Hamilton is the one who is out of contract though. I would die laughing if Mercedes decided to sign Russell instead of paying £40m a year for Hamilton. I know it won't happen, but it would be funny.

Bottas definitely needs to show something special next season because him and Russell will both be out of contract, so Russell will be banging on Toto's door saying give me a seat. So Bottas could be Perezed unless Hamilton decides to retire after next year.
interesting! my boyfriend said similar!! lewis could also be going to formula e which would be interesting, guess it takes the whole “cars are bad for the environment” argument away

I think Lewis would be mad to move to Aston Martin at least not for next season. Also, that would require Laurence Stroll to drop his own son from the team since Vettel has already signed for one seat. He is going to become a 7 time World Champion this year and given that the cars are basically going to remain the same next year due to delaying the new regs by a year, he is near a certainty to get his 8th at Mercedes next year and become the most successful F1 driver ever. Then, he could move teams and be part of a project for a team on the rise. But I really can't see him turning away from the best car on the grid before 2022 when the new regulations come in.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Wolff at Aston Martin next year though, or maybe leave Mercedes this year, have a year off and then join Aston.
Well Wolff did state about his role changing and not being responsible for so many people he also suffers from crippling migraines by all accounts again due to pressure and stress

i’m the same with his eyes!! I think he’s in such a better environment at AT, red bull seems toxic af tbh
There must be something about Red Bull drivers and their eyes. Because Carlos Sainz, former Red Bull programme driver - amazing eyes. Jaime Alguersuari from years back also had the most incredible eyes.

Yeah, everything about Red Bull seems toxic. Right to the top with Christian Horner and Helmut Marko. Not a pleasant environment for anyone coming in to the team.

I do wonder how McLaren will do with the Merc engine
Well next year will be tough. Adapting this year's car to fit the Merc engine and having to use all the 2021 development tokens to do so will limit them in terms of what they can do and what progress they can make compared to other teams. 2022 will be an interesting year with the new regs though.

The tea is RB have known since the start of the pandemic but haven’t sorted it out yet
Red Bull is just a bit of a shambles really. The way they split from Renault last time around was an embarrassment for how Red Bull handled it. I hate to think how Red Bull are going to try and get through this period.

F1 really needs a new engine formula really. Cheaper to attract a new engine supplier but still trying to reduce its carbon effects. I personally think they should explore hydrogen fuels - although the fire risk and safety in a crash would be a big concern. But F1 needs something to move it forward from the current hybrid system that isn't sustainable long term.

That or F1 will have to move to a single engine supplier and it be all about the chassis to separate the teams rather than power units as well.

When it asks if you want to set a group up there’s an option to join group in the top right corner. I clicked on that and pasted the code in and it worked.

I have a theory that Hamilton is leaving and he wanted to do his last race.
I do doubt it but I can hope. I don’t like domination
I wouldn't mind him retiring. But I don't understand why he wouldn't do even one more season, even if he wasn't really motivated, just to get an 8th title and have that most titles record for himself outright.

There are some people who always say the Hamilton hate/dislike is race related. And I accept there are some racist cunts that don't like him because he is black.

But Christ he comes across so poorly at times, so fake and on the radio post-race. He doesn't come across as particularly likeable. He elevates himself above everyone else, distances from everyone and you don't see a person, but see a hyper manufactured image he curates. It's just actually so easy to dislike him. And the lack of appreciation for George's effort is either absolute height of rudeness, or fear for his own position and his fragile ego.
I agree 100%

So today was a good session, however I am furious with race direction for letting Q2 start with a tractor on the track given Jules Bianchi’s crash was under somewhat similar conditions.
That was an absolute disgrace! Charlie Whiting will be turning in his grave for the decision. Michael Masi is just not fit for the job.

Does anyone on this thread work in F1? Have to admit Mugello was an incredible race... like the good old days 😁😁

Hi all just a post from me to make it clear. Daniel Ricciardo is mine.

As you were 😂
My god you sound like me in my David Coulthard era 😁😁😁

Haas could do a lot worse than signing Perez and Hulkenberg if they were both willing to sign and Haas brave enough to replace both drivers at the same time and pass over their youngster Deletraz. Even for a year because both would be potential targets for a bigger team if they have vacant seats. Problem is there isn't enough seats for drivers who want them.
I hope Hulkenberg and Perez both get a drive, think Grosjean and Kimi need to go.... bit early for Mick Schumacher...... What are the general thoughts about Alonso’s return ???

Certainly wasnt't the chaotic race I expected given the conditions.

Nice to see Seb on the podium again, I was surprisingly moved by Hamilton winning the title.

Perez deserves a drive, Red Bull as much as they are desperate to keep Albon, should probably sign him.

He was on holiday in Dubai (like a lot of people- but it's prior to a training thingy) and lost his sense of taste.
Charles Leclerc also in the area with his missus, unsure if he's doing the same training or it's just that Dubai is THE place to be since everyone is there at the moment!
Charles Leclerc has become such an arrogant little so and so. He enjoyed the hospitality of Saif Belhasa who is an entrepreneur in Dubai and owns a zoo not open to the public. There are videos of both he and Charlotte playing tug of war with a liger using rope. Then after a backlash, he requested all videos to be deleted. He has repeated travelled when Monaco had restrictions, not worn face masks.
