The penalty system is frustrating but at the same time I can’t think how they can do it differently

Feels unfair for drivers and their championship if they essentially lose out on points twice if they dnf due to a mechanical issue and then take a grid drop the next race.

Also feels unfair when half the pack take penalties and a back of the grid isn’t so Unless they had some sort of system where if you take a back of grid penalty then end up being 15th or something due to others also taking them the additional places are deducted from the next race?

Will admit I turned it off as slightly bored by it. Ferrari might have to do a Mercedes and completely change? Or maybe just this track. Carlos seemed OK after the race, Charles did not.

No cars on track for FP3 yet... I'm wondering if we'll also have rain during quali today. I'm guessing that would suck for the drivers because they can't really practice in the rain right now because it's just too heavy on track. It's gonna be interesting nonetheless!

i was just checking the forecast! i love rain races (and it definitely makes a more interesting race) but it does get to be frustrating! i’m working for qualifying sadly so will have to keep up with it here, i hope they actually manage to get some practice in.

Max at 25 has the potential to dominate for a while, even when he didn't have the best car he was always there or there abouts. I am struggling to see how Perez is struggling so much tbh I think they should have one race where Max starts at the back and we see power through or he has to switch cars for race only

more i’ve just seen he’s from florida though and i don’t want to be stereotypical but (apologies to florida) i only know of him through watching f2, where he’s been solid to be fair (he’s had two wins to my memory, and maybe four podiums?) and i’m always a fan of giving young drivers the opportunity as opposed to just moving average f1 drivers around teams - but i do also like mick a lot and would be sad to see him go.

i guess it’s all on what happens with pierre now for the other pieces to fall into place!

I know nothing about him outside of F2 and F3.
But after Abu Dhabi he should have enough points it he can stay top 5.
He's currently running in 3rd place as a rookie

It‘s getting ridiculous! But I‘m thinking this means that there are now major consequences as it would be cruel for Max to possibly win his 2nd WDC only to then be told actually no, it‘s „only“ your first.

If he didn’t get the 3rd drivers seat at RB I’m guessing AT would have given Nyck until the end of the season. I wonder how Yuki will react/compare.
I’d also love to know DR lap times from the test today compared to Perez and Max last week. Guess they won’t reveal that though
