I don't expect it to happen. Because this is Yuki being dropped in so far in the deep end, I can't expect him to do anything but drown.

But I do hope that Yuki can do a decent job and stick two fingers up at Helmet Marko.and Horner, neither of whom actually like or rate Yuki as a driver.

He'd have a point if he wasn't so fine with weird rule quirks when things work out for him, like Miami or the red flag in qualy. And he really does come across as dismissive and rude, particularly towards Esteban and Max at points, so it's hard to give him benefit of the doubt. Particularly when he's talking about driver talent, it's just needless.

The free pitstops were strategic from at least the Alpine boys - Esteban was asked what tyres he wanted under SC, he said he didn't want any and wanted track position because of the rain. Pierre said straight out when asked that he wasn't going to pit because the rain was bad enough that it'd be red flagged soon.

Alpine's drivers were cleverer than Lando here. And it's potentially netted Enstone 50 million extra...

I watched the highlights, what a chaotic race! Feeling cautiously optimistic/excited for Williams (watch me jinx it now!) Actually, I'm excited for the season on the whole and already looking forward to what the next race brings.

Carlos must have been told a lot about Williams plans for him to pick them over Audi. No offence but Williams are only really just improving. Well good luck to him! Audi I guess could be a big question mark over them as not known nothing to compare to??

It was too early, when Isaac was being comforted by Lewis’s Dad I ended up crying! Great race this morning but would like a nice dry one next please.

i can only assume that the wolf of wall street thing was pure bravado (and that he knew he wasn’t going at that exact moment 🤣) he does have an insane number of sponsors so maybe he thinks they’ll keep on saving him but even then there’s being optimistic and there’s being delusional. even with the car being designed for max 85% of drivers on that grid would doing a better job with it.

Yuki's best chance is for Laurence to finally put Lance out of his career misery (or Lance to tell Daddy he wants to live his own dream) and follow Honda to Aston Martin for 2026 and get a taste of Newey machinery.

Further on the Esteban stuff, Ollie Oakes (Alpine's TP) has spoken

"I don't agree with what I’ve read about how we treated Esteban. But in any case, we’re not here to be nice; we’re here to race. Ultimately, he’ll be driving for another team, and my focus is solely on Alpine. We need to move forward," the British team leader explained to AFP in the Abu Dhabi paddock.

He added, "People don’t know the full story, so it’s easy to comment from behind a screen. Esteban played a significant role in this team, but every chapter must end so that others can begin."

"We kept our word, and he’ll be able to do the tests with Haas. We’re acting in the interest of the team; we’re not here just for Esteban. And for me, it’s very important that Jack gets the chance to drive the car now to better prepare for next season," Oakes said.

"It will also be good for Esteban looking ahead to 2025 to start building relationships now with the people he’ll work with next year. And, without being harsh, his contribution to the team recently was limited—he scored few points and was often knocked out in Q1 (the first part of qualifying). We can’t forget he’ll be driving for the team we’re competing against for sixth place in the Constructors’ Championship, so it’s also better to eliminate any doubts about his commitment"

Not a nice way to end his time at Alpine and the timing is weird, but who knows what is going on behind the scenes.

I guess he agreed to it or had his hand forced if he really wanted to do that Haas test. Works for Alpine too to get Doohan in the seat earlier. Hopefully the rumours about Doohan being significantly off the pace are untrue and he isn’t about to be thrown to the wolves. He just need to get through this race without any major drama and not be miles off everyone else. Or at least that is what you would think to be the case, you never know with Alpine!
