And everyone saying he should go to Redbull. He’s a massive downgrade from Checo.
So many better candidates than Ricciardo. Both Alpine drivers, Sainz, and Alonso are all available. No need for Ricciardo.

He should have spun leaving McLaren as a voluntary retirement.

Hallelujah! Well done Lando.
Only just watching the race just now. Loved that pretty much all the drivers went to give their congratulations to him. So does this mean Lando needs to damage himself to win a race every race now? 😉

I was just reading about this! Quite a bold move so close to the new season.
Apparently the sponsors are unhappy as well as without him they won’t get the same coverage due to being at the back of the grid and boring drivers (sorry Kev and Nico). Guenther was who kept people interested in Haas. Wonder if they will now leave as Andretti enter

Typical he's cleared. 🙄
Sky even turning off their replies to their tweet on it. They’re all complicit.

Literally not one person was surprised when that story broke because he comes across as an odious little toad of a man, and now they’re given him permission to continue on like that.

Oof yeah, I understand it's for the good of the team (Alex has shown to be the better/more consistent driver) but that's gotta sting

Great so someone else who didn’t race in the conditions says people who did were basically being wimps
I think we should listen to the drivers in the cars who experienced it first hand

Qualifying thoughts:
  • Checo is going to struggle to keep his seat if that's what he's got.
  • Charles is one of the best over a single lap. It's just that he's driving at the same time that Newey's designing.
  • Alonso will end up retiring this season I think. He's hanging around for a car that can get podiums, and this doesn't look like it's capable of it.
  • Disappointing from Lewis. Qualifying is where he seems to struggle these days.
  • Hulk miracle in qualifying yet again. I give it 3 laps before he's back fighting the Sauber/Stake/Kick cars though.
  • Nice to see Yuki outqualify Danny Ric. Never liked DR, and I like him even less after he defended Horner.
  • Alpine are likely to lose at least one of their drivers as a result of this poor car. Pierre's the most likely of the two to be able to make a jump elsewhere, I think Esteban's 'it's only round 1' is aiming for renewal.

That was the bombshell that Will Buxton was hinting at.

From 2025 season
Honestly when I seen Will Buxton's tweet I was like oh yeah whatever you dramatic cow.

I'm shocked, I had been suspicious them not sorting Carlos' contract but I would never have guessed that's why!

Max’s car wasn’t as its best but Lando had an excellent car and the safety car timing just boosted that
Oscar would’ve been up there with him I think.
McLaren developing wonders the last two seasons. Oscar did very well until Carlos hit him, especially given he only had half the upgrade package, about 0.2 seconds a lap deficit just from the missing upgrade parts.

And in the past Max has been able to limp around with damage or whatever and still cope. But even early on before he hit the bollard, he wasn't running away, and was saying he wasn't totally happy.

Fingers crossed for the rest of the season being competitive.

Typical the one time I don’t get up for the F1! We recorded it though so watched it at a more reasonable hour. Agree also didn’t really like the studio stuff this weekend.

Ricciardo needs to go. Overtaken by Sargeant, struggled to get past the Alpine, and absolutely dominated by Yuki so far.

He's just lost it. It wasn't the McLaren (didn't think it was since his regression was linear), it was him.
And everyone saying he should go to Redbull. He’s a massive downgrade from Checo.

Race was boring once again, free practices had my hopes up that we might see a decent race. Jokes on me I guess 🤣 This Horner drama is more interesting than the sport itself right now
