I suffer with depression. Dr always asks if I would consider Talking Therapy? Self referral, so nice. Take in to consideration I suffer with mad anxiety. A phone call has me sweating, lol. First thing they ask...why am I depressed? Erm....is this a trick question? Wtf? I don't know, you tell me? Talking therapy peeps can't cope, unless you actually have' A' reason. Like, oh my cat died. Oh then breathe deeply, keep a journal. So frustrating

I'm going to therapy on and off over 25 years. It's not a magic fix. It's hard to get someone you gel with. Any mole can train.

I agree. The type of counselling they specialise in is important too. IMO person centred counselling which seems to be the main thing offered isn’t helpful to everyone.

I’ve really struggled with therapy too. I feel like I always be really honest but there is no solution from them just “tips”. Today we complete on my mums house sale after she died last year and it was our childhood home since I was born. I feel quite emotional and it’s so strange to see it now empty after a lifetime of memories. I knew this day would be sad but now it feels real that it’s happening. I’m hoping to get some closure from this too though as it’s been a struggle just constantly having to do admin and be reminded of crappy stuff and last moments. Sending lots of love to everyone struggling ❤🫶 I agree that tattle is a lovely relief I don’t care what the crappy “influencers” say!

Absolutely agree.

I have had 3 therapists in a year.

2 were people centered counselling and while they helped they didn't get to the root cause or help me stop the patterns of behaviour that were causing me the stress/anxiety in the first place.

I am now seeing a psychotherapist and whilst she is more expensive I feel like I have made more progress in 3 sessions with her than I did in 3 months with one of the others

The psychotherapist sounds good, I hope it continues.

For me I feel person centered is not going to be helpful, the last one called me extremely self aware, and I feel like if I had the answers myself I’d have overthought my way into them by now.
I think most of my problems need physical help and not thinking, and a solution to feeling quite lonely some of the time. I’m working on fixing the problems in my home so I can feel happier at least being in it most of my time. Then maybe I can work on getting out more.
I’ve started to wake up panicky again, I think I’m waiting for the next bad thing. I’ve had a lot of sudden bad stuff happen in my life, house fire, lightning strike, health emergency nearly die - type bad things so it kind of makes sense, but I’m out of options as to how not to wake up sweating and thinking I’ve forgotten an important thing.
I’ve spent the last four and half years doing non stop SEND battling for three of my children - I just have the littlest to get into a suitable placement but it has BURNED me out and my health is not great now. It’s so tiring.

Thanks everybody who was so kind to me when I had my difficult time this week. I’m feeling a bit better, it took two days of feeling depressed and doing a lot of crying. I am extremely tempted to take some sick leave from work. I’m a nurse and don’t think it’s good to deal with my job in this frame of mind. I left the hospital I was at, I now work at a residential clinic, despite the problems at the hospital, there was support. The managers here are not the same at all and although one of them is nice and tries, they have made it clear that the support is limited. I’m so unsure. It’s not a new job as such as it is the same trust so I’m not overly concerned about sick leave and HR etc, but as I have a MH diagnosis, I had support at the hospital I worked at whereas here they seem to misunderstand my situation. I made a huge mistake leaving and should have dealt with my issues there. I am now in a situation where I am leaving I just don’t know how/when and I think a week or so off will help. Needed to get that out!

Your health (and mental health comes within that!) comes first - it has to. It'll also give you a bit of breathing space

The best thing we can do for others is care for ourselves first. Sometimes we need to take our own advice and take care of ourselves ❤

I have a rubbish relationship with my mother, my husband is working away all weekend so it's just another day doing laundry, feeding the kids and dogs and cleaning for me. But that's okay. I hate these forced days anyway but this one still stings a bit. For anyone that finds today hard try to do something nice for yourself or distract yourself if possible.

i hated mother’s day for 16 years after my mum died. now i have my son it’s brought me new joy on this day and i’m grateful. it’s made mother’s day mine again. it’s a hard one for anyone who has lost a mother, wants to be a mother, has lost a child or has a difficult relationship with their mother or their own children. just remember your worth isn’t measured based on one random sunday in march

My mum's funeral this week. Today's been awful. Now have to face dealing with admin and house that's been our family home over fifty years. 💔

Mother's Day grumbles. Very strained relationship with very abusive mother. I was meant to call her today. Couldn't get through. Then I got a message at 8pm saying not to bother because she's not well. Probably been drinking all day. I'm so down.

I’m so sorry. We sold our childhood home last week after my mum dying last year. It’s so hard and I send you lots of love. I’m relieved to have gotten through Mother’s Day ❤

I’m sorry for anyone who found yesterday a struggle. I went out for my friends birthday on Saturday night and there were so many people having early Mother’s Day celebrations. I had to leave as it was so triggering for me and I felt out of my comfort zone. All I will say (and this is not just Mother’s Day related) you do you and look after yourself and do whatever makes you happy or feel safe. Your mental wellbeing is the most important thing ❤

There's a whole backstory to my family, but I basically live an hour away from my mum and newphews/niece, who i hardly see anymore due to my head sister and even bigger head partner.

But seeing my mum and nephews on Life 360 spending time together has really made me sad. I have child to parent relationship with my mum, so she wouldn't have event hough about this, but she did tell me that one of my nephews asked to sleep the night at her house. But all she did moan about it and didn't ask if I wanted to go round aswell.

And yeah, I just feel so alone, and that I don't feel loved by my family, or "seen" by them, or even have my own family.

I hate this antidepressant I have been on for 32 years! I can never forgive my family for making me go it as a child, and the hole dr that prescribed it. It has ruined my life. I have tried more times then I can count to come off it. You can't come off it. I become suicidal within a couple of days of not taking it. I managed to come off it for a year when I had my daughter but i ended up with severe PND and psychosis and had to go back on it when she was 4 months old. Biggest regret of my life going on that.
Antidepressants are a scam designed to make loads of money for pharmaceutical companies and doctors. They destroy your brain chemistry permanently and you can't get off them, ever!! Toxic poison! 😡😭

They’ve video chatted me. And my mum was suddenly like “can I book you to come over on this date to help me with XYZ?”

Not bothered about seeing me unless it’s a financial gain
