I second Clem, also she apologises when she gets things wrong too.Clementine Ford is a feminest I follow. I feel like she has the life experience (39). X

I’d suggest following Roxane Gay too, but also Mona Eltahawy (she wrote The Seven Necessary Sins for Women and Girls), Lola Olufemi (Feminism, Interrupted), Tressie McMillam Cottom (Thick, and other Essays), Gal-Dem (online publication), witch Media (another online mag), Everyday Feminism, The F-Word (UK online blog), and Laurie Penny. All do brilliant work and I’ve learnt a lot from them over the years.FG was sort of like my introduction into feminism and when I first read her book it was all new to me. But now my eyes have been opened to the fact that she is not doing anything revolutionary but actually she is heavily influenced by other people and passes it off as her own work!
Does anyone have any suggestions of better feminist accounts to follow?
I've seen. I like how she has done it as a story so nobody can publicly ask her questions - so she can just ignore them. She has also limited comments on her most recent post.Florence has responded.
Her response is definitely orchestrated by many many people and scrutinised with a fine tooth comb.Florence has responded.
Also thought this when I found out she was only 21. I'm 24 and I've matured so much already into my twenties, but I'm well aware I'm not mature enough to be preaching at everyone.I quite liked the book but when I found out she was 21 I was a bit like ooooh because Not much life experience? Just my personal opinion. One thing I think though is all the people she constantly reposts of them saying the same things seems quite cult like?
I do see this point but I also think she has spent a lot of her insta-fame tearing others down. Ive seen her actively involved in pushing people off of insta because they did one thing wrong. This is quite a big thing to get wrong. Also the whole her being a bully at school makes it difficult for me to feel sorry for her...Her response is definitely orchestrated by many many people and scrutinised with a fine tooth comb.
Personally at the moment I am unsure how to feel about this all. Should women be tearing other women down. Chideda has a lot of valid points as does Florence. There is very few original feminist ideas it seems, every new idea is an adaptation of the last. There is definitely room for all ideas but I can see where both of them are coming from.
totally agree with this - my issue with her statement is how can you go from posting tit like THE FLOSS EFFECT to saying “I’ve never claimed to be the first person to talk about these topics”. It just doesn’t sit right with me.Her response is definitely orchestrated by many many people and scrutinised with a fine tooth comb.

Agree 100% with everything you said. All this just makes me feel better for her making me uncomfortable to start with.totally agree with this - my issue with her statement is how can you go from posting tit like THE FLOSS EFFECT to saying “I’ve never claimed to be the first person to talk about these topics”. I think there’s probably a lot going on behind the scenes, unfortunately as Chidera appears to have been dropped by their management she will come out worse from the situation while this will all blow over for Florence and she’ll carry on as before.
It just makes me sad - “dump him” feminism is so dated and completely ignores the fact that probably a large percentage of men in floss’ age range were raised by feminists, it’s so reductive to just be like “men are trash” no people can all be trash it’s not a gender specific trait lol
It is before she actually saw the book though. In January, Chidera quotes Florence on her grid and you can see her artwork on the wall behind her, so they seemed to be on good terms then. This was also the month Florence showed the front cover for her book with the quote “Florence is a powerhouse” the Slumflower

Yeah that’s what I thought! I’m assuming that’s when their friendship soured? It is before she actually saw the book though.
Yes I imagine. I mean I would feel the same if someone jumped on the back of me for popularity, spent ages talking about BLM and then stole my ideas!Yeah that’s what I thought! I’m assuming that’s when their friendship soured?
