Women don't owe you pretty, but here's multiple pictures of me looking perfectly groomed and conventionally attractive with my 'right/left tit' out.

Unfollowed her after 2 days - obviously as narcissist as all the other influencers she claims to be so radically different from. Sick of seeing this self obsessed crap wrapped in a 'feminism' bow.

For the sake of accuracy, Chidera hasn't actually been "dropped" by her management. She dropped THEM back in October, giving them 3 months' notice to dissolve their contract with each other, as per its terms. After Chidera blasted Florence on her story the management company emailed her to ask whether she agrees to bringing the termination forward by one month (it was due to end in January). Unless she's told them she agrees then she's technically still represented by them - if they wanted to drop her any sooner they'd have to argue that she breached the contract and she could challenge that in court if she wanted to. I think the management's email to Chidera is understandable since she publicly dragged one of their top-selling authors on social media with no warning or attempt at resolving things behind the scenes.

Personally I think both books are dissimilar enough that Chidera doesn't have much of a foot to stand on - which is probably why she's taken this fight to the court of public opinion rather than, y'know, actual court - i.e. suing Florence over intellectual property.

I'm indifferent to both of the authors. They both regurgitate other people's ideas into insta-friendly, non-challenging, prepackaged feminism that basically tells young women things they've been longing to hear. I thought it was kinda widely accepted that they're both hacks having fairly harmless fun on the internet, but people are acting like they're both leading academics caught plagiarizing lmao.

Basically this whole drama is trite and pointless but that won't stop me grabbing my popcorn 😂

These women are all narcissists, largely ignorant of actual feminist discourse and the important work done by feminists decades before they were born...

Sorry but I can’t stand this feeble, social media-driven, learned via Tumblr type of “feminism”, or any of the women who perpetuate it as a cash-grab career.

Florence Given makes me cringe the most out of all of them. The fact that her “feminism” lacks any class analysis says it all.

Don’t even get me started on her posing in a pornified way, yet just with a quirkier hairstyle, so obviously she’s not at all conforming to patriarchal standards for women. No way. She’s totally able to understand that the current idea of what passes for sex positivity and empowerment has been moulded by the patriarchy, porn addiction and even capitalism to have the exact same effect as the types of oppressive media representation of women that she & her friends rally against - but our Floss, she has a haircut that men do not like and therefore it is totally empowering and entirely her choice within a patriarchy-free vacuum when she poses with her shirt open and her nipple almost popping out! She’s not trying to conform to any male-gaze led standard. Oh no sir. FFS!

It's so jarring to see her post la la videos about movin to LA (how privileged also to want to and be able to move to the US right now and not be affected by anything going on), going thrifting and living DeLiCiOusLy etc. with all the anti-ICE protests and riots happening there. She is the epitome of a privileged, dress in pink tiktok white feminist that when it comes down to it, doesn't do shit - you care about intersectional feminism and empowerment? at least do or post something about what's happening there and how people can support the most marginalised communities being under massive attack right now. so tone deaf

i cannot believe this woman doesn't have a more active thread. She is vile. besides dancing in front of a mirror and spouting Hallmark-esque, unoriginal 'inspiration' for Gen Z, I'm not sure what her purpose is. Surely there are people on here who can tell us what's behind this facade. besides some intelligence she was a bully at school, i've not seen anything about what she really is like. perhaps she has no substance and all she does is sing and dance in front of a mirror, and that's it? and draw pictures (that I'm sure chatGPT could probably replicate thus making her 'art' redundant'). or perhaps this is all Flossie can do is live online, and when the phone is off, she is too, slumped in a corner and waking up only to dance, pose, spout, do selfies of herself 'living deliciously' when she goes out to buy flowers, and that's it.....

I have also never seen her speaking about class issues which is a huge red flag for me and I think people will also start noticing soon. Shes just a posh social justice liberal - no substance

Women who have been in coercive or abusive relationships most likely wish every day they’d just dumped him. But it takes years of therapy to realise that the person you were with tried their very hardest to remove that as a choice.
THIS!!! I won’t go into my own experience but I shall say that it took me over a year to get out of a manipulative, violent and controlling relationship. No amount of ‘dump him’ slogans would’ve made me leave him. It takes TIME and COURAGE for people to conduct a plan to escape that person. Of course, I am just speaking about my own experience but no woman I know who has been in the same situation has ever just got up and left because some girl on Instagram was telling them to do so.

Urghhhh, today's stories. Does she think she's a relationship counsellor? She's 17 or whatever, has no professional quals (I'm sure she's read a few books) why do ppl listen to her?
I don't understand how she has such a following. She's clearly just a very privileged person who has never really struggled and has always been cheered on and supported and lifted up from a young age, so she has a very inflated sense of the worth of her own opinion. It's coincided with brands/companies/publishers/whoever seeing an opportunity to mass-market her watered down, misjudged feminism (if thats even what I would call it...) and ✨ Self Care✨ mentality but still being stuck enough in their ways to only want a traditionally attractive, able bodied, slim, white woman to be the poster girl for it.

I have now unfollowed both of them.

Florence had started annoying me last year anyway, even before all this lark, but Slumflower makes me feel a bit angry. You don't owe me pretty or nice, I don't owe anyone a living. Get a job.

Have unfollowed FG, just can’t stomach the “look how great I AM” - think it’s absolutely wonderful that her book is having a positive impact on some people and opening their eyes to self worth but how she centres herself in that movement really leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The constant sharing of testimonials like “I dumped my shit head boyfriend because of you flo!!!!! You’re my saviour!!!” Just doesn’t sit right with me. It feels like she does it for the applause rather. I think her hearts in the right place but she just gets caught up in the adoration as I think most 21 year olds would in her position.

Tbh, I'm not a fan of hers. I get the impression she's well up her own butt.

I used to follow her but when she posted about copyrighting the font she uses for her art as 100% hers, that just pissed me off. That font is well known everywhere as derived from the 70s hippy era, like flo hon you were born in the 90s, thats not yours to claim

Also I find her whole attitude around not removing hair to be arrogant. Ive come across this new age of feminism before that implies you're a "better" feminist if you choose not to shave. Like hair removal is a personal choice, no one is better than anyone for having hairy armpits. Hell, you're certainly not a better feminist.

Edit: I forgot she's only 21 so late 90s/early 00s?

Not sure if anyone has seen, but there is a lot going around on Twitter about FG having been a massive bully at school, despite her previously saying that she was the one bullied.

I got really into her art in 2018, and then quite quickly realised that she never spoke about class and that her whole feminism was very self centred.

I unfollowed her after her book launch. I think she's a good example of an influencer who got a book deal, who is trying to paint themselves as something else. I'm sure I saw that she didn't even read The Beauty Myth until like last year, yet wrote a whole book about women not owing anyone their appearance?? Wild.

When I saw quotes from her book, I was like right, this stuff has been around for decades from black feminists in the 1970s and 1980s. Why is this 20 year old white woman a millionaire because of ideas that predate her by forty years?

She was basically having a hissy fit about Diving Bell having the ~~audacity~~ to ask her what would happen if they didn't concede to her demands. Which suggests she naïvely didn't expect any pushback when she decided to cost them £100 a month more than they had originally signed up for. So basically trying to change the terms of her contract whilst not giving DB any extra value for their money. She was naïve as fuck not to expect them to ask what she intended to do if they said no. That's not them forcing her out, it's literally them seeing where they stood in order to negotiate. She says Justin (of DB) gave her an "ultimatum" but she's the one who was trying to put pressure on HIM to get her demands met.
What is so wrong to expect a company who is run by white people, who are preaching about BLM, who manage black people and make money off them, to donate a small amount of the money they make to BLM? Also they complained about her demand to add a BLM landing page but then did it anyway? She also said in their original meeting they actually eventually agreed, then changed their minds again. They were free to say no, originally, then they could've parted ways, but they weren't as open as that. It also doesn't excuse their abhorrent behaviour following this.

I went to the same school as Florence, obviously it’s been nearly 10 years but it’s crazy how different her attitude is to how she was in school. She was one of the mean, popular girls and was known to be quite the bully. Highlight was when some girls from another local school broke into our school to fight Florence for sleeping with their boyfriends.

Has anyone noticed how everyone involved in this scandal is making an absolute killing? Loud Bossy Gross requested people "pay" her for the "labour" of screenshotting the insta messages that other people are sending her, and doing a couple IG lives. She's made 3 grand in a week. Same with Chidera, her book sales must be through the roof right now with so many people picking up a copy having only heard of her through the drama. And I'm sure Florence's sales are just fine as always lmao.

What always gets me is that the loudest voices on social media tend not to be the voices in the greatest need of financial reparations. Chidera sold 50,000 books, she is a middle class British young woman, and yet people are swarming to send her money. It's just such a shame when there are literally black families in this country who are relying on food banks, charities, and support from their church or friends as a result of intergenerational deprivation and racist policies like the hostile environment preventing them from earning a living or claiming benefits.

All these white do-gooders would be doing a lot more good by donating to a charity that either directly supports working-class black people and those without an immigration status, or one that does policy and advocacy work to try and remove these racist policies. A middle class woman earning £3k in a week from reposting messages and doing a couple of unscripted videos, and all the white activists patting themselves on the back for their performative activism, absolved of their white guilt for having ever liked Florence - well, to me it's a disgusting example of profiteering.

Sure, pay black people for their labour, emotional or otherwise - but there is no way you can convince me that £3,000 in a week is the value of LBG's "labour" 😂 it's so ironic that she's literally profiting off of re-sharing other people's words - just like Florence and Chidera did!!! I really hope she will donate the majority of it but somehow doubt it.

I've never seen a more obvious example of huge power going to someone's head. She's grim, her ego is unreal. 'The Floss Effect', 'a term coined by Florence Given' etc. How self centred can someone be to demand constant recognition and plaster their name all over a movement. It was always about the money, pushing her own agenda and ultimately going after fame and popularity. Glad she's been outed as the hypocritical low life she really is

I've been loosely keeping up with the issues between Chidera and Florence, and I think all of it is quite messy and there's a lot that isn't being shown. Firstly, if Chidera was planning to endorse the book originally, surely she would have seen it and therefore could have brought up how similar they look? Secondly, I own both books and yes there are similarities, but I wouldn't go as far as to say that Florence copied Chidera. This whole 'self-help', feminist driven artsy culture is very popular at the moment, and neither of the books are complete originals, and I think that Florence, despite her misgivings, has been fairly open in saying how she has been influenced by other women and isn't claiming that her book is the blueprint. I don't want this to come across as an attack on either women because I think they're both great in their own right (of course both have their flaws, but don't we all), but it does seem that Chidera is upset about being dropped by Diving Bell for whatever reason and it using it as a chance to say that a white woman got more attention than her. Please do not think this is me downplaying the racial aspects of this issue because I think that it does have a part to play (Florence is more palatable as a thin, white, pretty woman) but I think Chidera is going on a witchhunt over something that isn't entirely Florence's fault
