Really liked this series. Watched Crashing on Netflix earlier this week and found Lulu really unlikeable!
I watched crashing too, in like two sittings even though I didn’t think it was particularly good. It’s been programmed to appeal to my demographic - which I probably share with much of this thread - so it was easy to watch. So, let’s say, millennial females who like fleabag and normal people and I may destroy you and my dad wrote a porno and nanette...? It’s very predictable in that pigeonhole other than some of it felt strangely nineties ? The estate agent twat is a terrible dated character, wasn’t funny. The best part is the french girl and Colin. Only bit that made me laugh. PWB’s character is unlikeable in all the ways you might expect really. Not far off her fleabag persona with some Hannah horvath (lena Dunham, girls) sprinkled in, only less neurotic.
It’s a shame because property guardianship- which is what it’s about - is a pretty good subject for comedy. My friend did It for a few years and lived in two weird office buildings and a goddamn old people’s home, not far off the hospital they are in in the show. Possibly creepier... I hope someone else tries to write something in that setting again .
Fleabag is tons better and way more original. I’m kind of disappointed she did something so generic actually I wonder if it was because she was an unknown at the time, but gosh is it average. I do think fleabaf is overrated, tho I also think the second series was better (still overrated...)
The stuff about the priest being the only person who noticed her talking to the camera was great. I’ve not seen that before , I liked the idea. Was it because she is talking to God, which is the audience I wondered ....?
