I know this is fionnuala’s thread, but did anyone see bríd’s Instagram? Is she joking or did they actually cancel the wedding to go on holidays? 😅 I feel like she’s joking but who knows! From snippets I heard, I got the sense she was less on the ball than F in terms of planning!
I saw that and thought it was awful sad but that’s because I assumed it was cancelled after her dad passing, I could be totally wrong in that, but I can see why it would change her mind about having a big day

Wow, F is only 28 - shes done so well to have the house bought at this point. I just assumed she was a couple of years older tbh!
Right! 🙈 I am 27 and so behind her, her and her bf seem to have been on the mortgage grind for years though, it’s only this year I fully realised what a mortgage entails and actually thought shit I need to save!

Yeah I agree. She needs to have guests to make it interesting though too.

Oh yeah absolutely & I’m sure she has a good mix. I just find loads of Irish podcasters just basically interview each other and go around and do a circuit of podcasts over and over.

I definitely love Fionnuala's work but the new podcast seems to be very like Juvenalia. Also with a new guest per week, we can guess them can't we:

James Kavanagh
Laura Young
Andrea Horan
Holly Carpenter
Louise McSharry
Tony Cantwell
Rinse repeat

I will be listening of course because I think her own personality and professionalism will bring it to another level but I'm so bored of Irish podcasts right now.

Yea they are the outfits from the live show but find it weird that they would create a new “logo” for a show that doesn’t make new episodes anymore. But maybe just getting hopes up 🤣
Yeah, seems odd they would update the logo for no reason?! Like what would be the point? But as you say, maybe we’re just reading too much into it! Would love if it came back and as a nosy birch, would love them to do an episode on the podcast breakdown/fallout as brids statement was very much blaming fionnuala and then there was zero interaction! Give us the goss gals and then give us the content, you’re missed!

Just saw its Brids gender reveal/baby shower. Sad that Fionnuala isn't there. Has there been anymore info on the split/fallout? Really miss Bandwagons podcast!
I thought the same - they shared a huge part of their lives with each other, it’s sad they aren’t together at this life event I think.
Would love to know the tea!

Brids not with the boyfriend long. They’d a post up ‘our first and last Christmas as just a couple’ - she’s 5ish months pregnant & they’re not together 12 months. I would imagine as a best friend you’d have been trying to offer advice or maybe find it hard not to, not saying it won’t work out for them etc but all very fast for sure

I was with my ex just a year when we got pregnant years ago, and to say we were panicked was an understatement, no matter how “ready for a baby” you think you are, there’s probably stuff in the back of the cupboard there a lot longer than that! Fair fecks to them for making it work but it’s a shame that it seems to have caused the end of the pod, as you said, no other pairing quite has the chemistry.

I wonder if they have rekindled their friendship for a while or if reaching out to each other was more motivated by doing the podcast again? In a business partner kind of way
I think if the unpopular opinion and the last few months of itgalz shows anything it shows that you cannot have a podcast duo where there is no friendship. It just oozes bad energy and makes for hard listening. I think they rekindled their friendship a few months ago. Would be a bad move just to restart the pod without having hashed out what happened

It's definitely a cork thing. I've lived in London longer than I care to admit and I still go up at the end of my sentences. But the way she does it is more stop and starty so it seems more of an American way of doing it, and sliiiiightly sarky. So I get you. It can be offputting.
Or, and this is my backgrounds in media training and linguistics coming into play, but it could be that she appears to be not very comfortable in her own skin right now
She seems to be under pressure (external or internal) to be a bit of an insta hun or a mini Muireann O'Connell or the louise girl who used to be on RTE radio with the blonde hair. Sorry I can't think of her name. Like the posing and the long long nails, and the blonde moneypiece (blonde doesn't suit her, sorry, it doesn't suit everyone. I've been there) and the thong swimsuits just don't seem to suit her personality or her style at all. It seems She's trying to be something she's not and that lack of confidence can often translate into the vocals- she's unsure of herself so the upflexion in tone becomes more pronounced and stilted.
She's doing incredible though, I hope she doesn't wear herself out by trying to fit into a box.
You've hit the nail on the head, it's the faux American thing.

Like, I know Cork people. I've spent long enough in Cork to know they do go up in sentences but hers just seem so.... forced? Fake? Really cant put my finger on it but all I am sure of is its not the Cork thing that annoys me.

Awwwh didn’t realise she had the baby! Lovely picture and name ( although I don’t get why Nora has a fade but sure look!) and yes, i also was shocked when she posted the year anniversary pic and was nine months pregnant! Not a prude but am her age and just spooked me as I can’t imagine being in that situation but I know no two people are the same!

Has fionnuala liked/commented/referenced it? Not that she has to but assumed she might post a congrats! They don’t seem to interact at all though so I think they did fall out, which is very sad
Nóra is said to be the Irish form of Hanorah. Yeah, it's a pretty name.

I know Fionnuala doesn't have to publicly comment on it but if they have fallen out it is really so sad. I always thought they seemed like such real friends and I really miss listening to them. If you look at other similar podcasts, none of them had what Fionnuala and Brid had. The Itgalz always had underlying tension, Karla & Jen on the Unpopular Opinion don't mesh together at all and Charleen & Ellie K on Hold my Drink just aren't as good.

My sister has just realised that she can’t message fionnuala that the “ send message “ bubble on her stories for her is gone . I don’t follow her but does this mean fionnuala has restricted her? She had messaged her a few times but only about nice things and saying congrats on the house etc .. anyway we are intrigued and just wanted to know if that’s a thing they can do ?
Fionnuala has story replies off if that’s what you mean - the bar at the bottom of a story where you can write a reply. She’s had them off for a while now.

In fairness when I was that age I moved pretty much every year. I think I lived in about 7 different places in Dublin in 10 years. Sometimes it was because the house was a bit shit, sometimes it was because my roommates were a pain in the arse, sometimes it was because I wanted to change neighbourhoods to be closer to wherever I was working, and then later on it was to live with a partner etc.

You could say that actually it's an advantage of renting to be able to move so much.

Did they defo fall out or do we just assume they did?
I mean we will never know for sure unless they outright say but surely they wouldnt have ended the show like they did if they hadn't fallen out.

Lovely to see that they're friendly again anyway.

I agree it needs a bit more fine tuning before offering a paid version. I enjoy the odd flop culture because I like fionnuala as a host but think she’s gone way too niche and random with a lot of topics , I end up skipping loads !

Definitely. However you'd have to wonder if it is worth a reboot seeing as the 2 girls are living such different lives and the chemistry they had before wouldn't be the same
I know what you mean.
The Brid 'mammy' content would be of zero interest to me. I also wasn't mad on Fionnualas Flop Culture podcast.

I really want to love the podcast but there’s a lot of ‘wait, explain this to me’ ‘I don’t know anything about *main topic of the pod*’ ‘I’ve never heard of this event’, it’s a bit grating in some episodes

I agree with above, it’s not their main focus. Anyone subbed to the Patreon and can say if those episodes are better?
