Oh God I find watching Tessa painful. She seems a lot more fragile than the twins so I don't want to slate her but she is the epitome of everything I hate about Instagram. She talks in a weird social media jargon (social meds anyonetheyre all part of that bitchy ribble valley group though aren’t they.
At least tessa is funny with it though

People can come here to defend themselves, but they can't come here to police a thread and insult members. They usually find this impossible to do.They did come to defend themselves and it was deleted, it’s not allowed on here I don’t think.
You’re a nasty twat. Fucking imbecile why come on here just to slag off hard working people who are trying to make a better life for themselves and their families. I sense jealousy. You’re fucking wankers
I don’t think they make as much as they claim - good friends of mine were bakers from their teens to retirement. They did proper cakes and everything in a trendy part of London. Their margins were very narrow - not the kind that would allow multiple jaunts abroad. Also, they had very long days so even if social media was a thing, they simply wouldn’t have the time to tit about as they needed to work.
I suspect a lot more of the girls’ lifestyles is funded by dads / partners than £14 brownies that sell out within 20 mins (which speaks to a daily cap - don’t want to burn out on a glorified hobby, not a living).
I asked about the Stork and spread vs butter and my friends said they found cakes made with Stork kept better in a freezer, lasted a bit longer when decorated but it had a more neutral taste that could be covered by the filling. Oh, and it was infinitely cheaper than butter. They goggled at the business model based on Tesco blocks and pre mixes.
I personally wonder if the complaints regarding the cake jars could be down to them recycling old freezer cake that would otherwise be thrown. Chucking in a mess of frosting is an attempt to cover sponge that is just about to go stale.

Are you being serious? They are quite obviously doing that well for themselves! Their whole family is employed by the business. Ones husband is a nurse? How old fashioned to think they live off their partners. They run out of stock because they’re very popular and are a relatively small business. And as orherI wonder how many of their supposed staff are being paid properly. Social media influencers so probably clout. I really blinked at that screenshot upthread of that moan they did about not wanting to pay an 18yr old the same amount of money than the >25yr old standing next to them doing the exact same job. I know it was wrapped in a Corbyn rant wrapper, but whenever I hear or read of people whinging about paying their staff a fair wage, I’m not impressed. If you can’t afford to pay your staff fairly, you‘re either unspeakably greedy or you don’t have a viable business to my mind.
The internet is not lacking for people setting up a mail order cake business. These twins have very pretty looking cakes, they really do. So do a lot of other people, and a significant proportion scratch bake their products with proper ingredients. We might be heading into high unemployment and recession following covid so these companies will need to up their game to survive.
I know this is a rave thread, so I will say that photos of their micro display of baked goods in their shop is very cute.
Are you being serious? Of course they’re making a lot of money. Their whole family is employed by the business. Plus lots of other people (who will be on minimum or relatively low wage, they take on unskilled and train up). Also very old fashioned to think they’re reliant on partners to fund lifestyle. As many have mentioned here the prices are higher end and the ingredients are cheap, but guess what their products taste amazing and always sell out so that’s fine if you don’t want to pay it, other people will. But it explains why they’re making plenty of money. And as for you using them selling out quickly as an example for why they’re not making money, as if they’re not making enough, I’d argue it just shows that their products are popular and continue to be so- yes 30 people sounds like a lot but if there are more people wanting mail brownies than those 30 people can make they are going to sell out. I have followed these girls and the bakery for years, they are hardworking and business shrewd - nothing more to it. Yes some of you might think they’re unprofessional but perhaps that’s why it works best for them to be self employed; not everyone has to be a corporate robot and if they’re making a great living, can afford bigger houses and more holidays than the rest of you then who’s laughingI don’t think they make as much as they claim - good friends of mine were bakers from their teens to retirement. I don’t believe it is expensive, you are paying for a product freshly hand made, cut, wrapped, packed and posted. It’s not made my machinery in a factory it’s a person doing all that work.Still expensive
Wow incredible receipts hereIt was around the last election, looks like its been deleted now. I have screenshots, though.

The tweet crying about the inevitable starvation of her unborn child was somewhere between the £600 shoe brag tweet and the list of highly expensive holidays she had planned for that year alone:

I do hope they are not starving, though....
To be fair I bake a lot and their hands could be as clean as a whistle but that food colouring would still be there. I managed to get pink colouring on my hand after doing my sisters gender reveal and had to purposely smother them in blue as well so I didn’t give it awayAnyone watched their live stories today? the colour under their nails![]()

Everyone and their dog are selling brownies and blondies these days. It's actually really disheartening because I've always wanted my own baking business but it seems so faddish now with everyone jumping on the bandwagon. Most of them don't even offer anything unique either, just nicking eachother's recipies and baking the same bogstandard tat covered in more sugar. Like christ atleast have some originality, how many biscoff/kinder/nutella/jammie dodger traybakes does anyone need!?Wholesalers can often have minimum order amounts so if you’re operating out of your kitchen, it can be cheaper picking up stuff on special in your local supermarket or Costco. Especially since the likes of Cadburys and Nestle will not sell for cost price and coffee chains have cornered the sugar wholesalers.
I have seen a lot of recipe books since the 70’s and instagram bakers are not reinventing the wheel - it’s a bit naive to assume “secret recipes” are key to a business when they can easily be obtained and recreated with little effort by someone who knows what they are doing. It always seemed like instagram just made it seem you were supporting a local business and not buying factory made stuff, and that the decorations would be far more appealing and unique.
Essentially, it’s like you’re buying treats off one of your mates AND at the same skill and hygiene levels too - let that sink in...
