I have no experience in this but isn’t continual harassment a police matter?

It’s horrific, what on earth is wrong with these abusers?
If there’s no violence the most they will do is give him a talking to

This is still worth doing in some cases. My ex was stalking me so no violence, the police went round and he stopped. I think as big as these men think they are, realising that there's a record either with a lawyer or the police does actually tit them up and make them stop. Not all of course but it's worth a try and if they persist then they have no leg to stand on legally because they've been warned and ignored it.

It some cases, but often it can make it worse that’s why I went for the non mol myself because when I reported it to the police and they said they would go have a chat with him I knew if he was just given a warning he would laugh it off, he got worse when I said I would be reporting him if he continued. So I told them I didn’t want them to talk to him and just applied to the court.

Yeah that makes sense. Depends on the context and people, you know the man you're dealing with best. Just wondering if it might be worth a try for OP as she can report him online to the police and they'll just come round for a chat, not as scary as going to court etc.

I've spoken to the solicitor today and she's going to send him a warning letter that if his behaviour continues, there will be action. I believe that may help to deter him, she said I can always revisit non molestation action at a later date if the behaviour continues.

That’s good, I hope that does deter him and gives you a bit more peace of mind

Hi I don’t mean to intrude but I have a situation with my mum, she’s definitely the type that gets overly defensive when you talk to her about anything she doesn’t like to hear so I’m not sure what to do.

in June she began dating a woman which was a shock to all of us, she had been single for many years - after leaving my brother’s dad who was physically, mentally and emotionally abusive - we also had no idea she was LGBT+ and she didn’t actually sit any of the family down and tell us. My sister and I found out she was in a relationship with this woman via Facebook but before then whenever she mentioned her she referred to her as clingy and someone she couldn’t get rid of.

I just want to preface that I have no problems with my mum dating women, men etc gender or sex doesn’t mean anything to me as long as she’s happy but I feel like she isn’t.

my friend and I agreed this woman was and has been love bombing her from the start, from maybe two weeks in this woman was around us 24/7 and telling her things like she wants to be together forever, she wants to marry her etc and then after not even a month she moved in but my mother lied to everyone and said she was just staying a few weeks.

this woman has been physically abusive to my mother once that I know of but it could be more, whenever they have an argument she threatens to pack her stuff and leave and in one occasion she left but clearly had no intention of going anywhere as she put her stuff in the car and left it there overnight. As of recent it’s clear she wants more control over the house as she threw out some of our things - not hugely sentimental items just things like bathroom furniture but still not her right - and bought her own and completely rearranged the kitchen. When I swapped it back as it had been there for 5/6 years and nobody ever had complaints it appeared she was in a mood about it and when I left she had put it all back.

This woman doesn’t have a good thing to say about any of my mum’s friends and even goes as far as pulling them down as well as pulling my mum down and belittling her whenever possible but passes it as a joke. She is constantly calling my mother when she’s at work to see what she’s doing And who she’s with, I think this is partly the reason she was so adamant about my mother quitting her job. My mum didn’t like where she worked but this woman was so clear she wanted her to quit and be happy and that she’d take care of things but ironically her ex had accused her of being controlling with finances so this is what it seems to be.

when any of us express anything my mum is quick to tell us not to make things awkward and even talks about me behind my back to my grandma and says things like I make this woman feel uncomfortable but I do not like her and what she is doing to our family.

I hate how my mum has been in this situation before and the things that are transpiring infront of us seem to be falling down the same path, does anyone have anyadvice on what can be done?
