This property is nothing more than a flip. No way are they gonna stay here for long. They won't find it easy to sell on tho with the man living in the room downstairs. It would make me very very uncomfortable with him being there and bringing their kids to it as well. It may have been cheap but I think unless they get him out it will be an impossible situation.

Alot of time and trouble being taken with Nancy's ensuite bathroom, even a mention of their own, but none of Seths tho, does he not get a bathroom? He'll probably have to share with the bloody lodger. It’s sad how subconsciously they treat him as an after thought.

I’m a bit confused - is this a house or an apartment..? Recently they refer to it as an apartment? If so am surprised that’s what they went with after all the villas they looked at. I love Fern but those outfits she wears to do work in..I could never not in a construction zone (well I could not wear those to a gym I am so self conscious lol).

No it's an apartment. They bought it because it's in the centre of Cannes with private access to the beach. They bought it at a bargain price for obvious reasons, not least the previous owner still living in the basement with no intentions of leaving even though he's been evicted , and could see they'd make a killing by doing it up and selling it on. I don't think they'll stay there long.

Yeah it's definitely a flip! It'll be worth a fortune seeing as it's in Cannes.

I'm sure the previous owner will leave - they couldn't live in it with him there, so they'd have to get the police and social services involved before that point.

In the comments on their latest video Fern says ' He’s still there unfortunately. I see signs of hoarding slowly starting again! His waste is building, the drains are blocked again from his toilet use. He has no shame and doesn’t follow through with his promises. Right now we’re focused on the renovation as we have to be. He will not be there when we move in. He can not be around the children'

New Here, stumbled across this couple of fakers and had to do some background research. It's probably all been said before so sorry to repeat anything as II've only watched one vlog.

Fern is not registered as self employed in France, has she ever mentioned this and she doesn't seem to be a director or have a company in England.

Ryan on the other hand has a couple of registered French companies. BOTH are in "redressement fiscal" as we call it here. It basically means the last step before going bankrupt, you're trying to renegotiate your debts. I suspect he hasn't been paying his social charges/taxes and most likely paying for fern's lips to be enhanced.

He is registered as an architect in France, The research I did suggests that had a flooring company up north (Leeds) which also went out of business with one debt still outstanding.

Did they sell a house in England and run to France with the money that was left? they won't last five minutes here unless they're earning, all this talk of living on the riveria is cringe, I suspect every time they open their mouths it's BS.

Looking forward to some intel, Again apologies if my comments have already been said.

She certainly comes from some money. She's shown her parents' house; they're not short of a bob or two. But I do think Ryan has done well with his business too.
Both of his French businesses are in redressement fiscal, last step to bankruptcy. His last company in England also went into liquidation still owing funds of which she was a director.

Maybe why they sold the last house so fast nothing to do with wanting to live a slower life and not spending all free time doing house jobs or the financial guru Ryan spouting off about better to have money invested not tied up in a house balls !

I mean yeh construction business you can get stiffed by someone not paying you etc which might also be the case !

I noticed in the vlog uploaded the Sunday before last, Fern & Ryan just called in to the apartment to see the work in progress, and one of the workmen put a bucket on his head when he saw the camera. I did wonder then if he was a 'legal' worker ! :sneaky:

I work in construction in France, there are a lot of illegal workers around the Côte d'Azur, a lot have worked in Britain so speak English and Ryan doesn't speak a word of French, and the jobs he is doing aren't big earners once you take out social charges at 46% on every euro made. This is where expats come unstuck, If you don't keep up to date with the payments the government will hold your bank accounts until you do. Something isn't right behind the facade, fernie doesn't seem to be the kind of women to move from a villa into an apartment, don't they have two kids and pets. In my opinion their life is fake unless they have parents helping them out. If one thinks about it, they left Doncaster and went to the French Rivera in their mid thirties;).

Don't know what to think of all this tbh, they've never made a secret of the fact that he had a business in the UK that went bankrupt, they speak about it in a past vlog, long time ago. They also don't hide that they started out from humble beginnings, a caravan in Doncaster. Don't think either sets of parents are well off.

Oh dear seems like they've got alot of skeletons in cupboards. I wonder if they'll address any of these revelations? They're the sort that will keep up the pretence as long as they can.

Re it being a flip I wonder if France has tax rules that mean that selling your primary home incurs no/less tax hence they will have to live in it for a while before selling..

Today they went shopping for skirting boards and were surprised to see shops closed.
I don't live in France and even I know the French take holidays in August and a lot shops will be closed then. Fern was really annoyed and said: hope you enjoy your holidays, you ruined our plans. And then said: You prepare everything and then this happens. Uhm... no Fern, this means you were not prepared. Being prepared doesn't mean Googling a shop and drive there 1 day before you need the material. It means calling the shop and asking if they have the required material in stock. Because in another shop that was open, they found out the material had to be ordered... shocking 😂
Ryan even works in construction, how does he shop for materials other years during summer?🤔
And surely he must know as a professional builder that materials need to be ordered in advance.

Exactly this. It's basic knowledge, that if she integrated herself into the French culture a bit more, as she should have, she would know. August is holiday time on the Mediterranean. Shops close. They're pissing and panicking now. I'd be more worried about the previous owner still living in the basement.

Also can I just say, they knew about construction and all major works pausing in the summer because they mentioned it in other vlogs.
I think this is gonna be one of those properties that never really gets finished til they wanna sell it on. Don't hold your breath for a big reveal.
The pink house was pretty basic inside tbh, they had that god awful wood burner stuck in the middle of the living room, the kids rooms were finished nicely but the rest of the house was bland. Their was no soft furnishings or nice artwork or ornaments. I think she spends more time and money on what she looks like rather than what her living space looks like.

No way in this world would I take my kids to a new property with the previous, clearly unwell, owner in the basement.

You guys heard her life hack? Having 2 dishwashers in your kitchen will save a ton of time. Who has time to load and unload the dishwasher? Surely not Fern, the stay at home mum. Imagine the 15 min of shopping time that could she lose, unloading the dishwasher 😂
No, listen to her advice and prevent this by buying 2 dishwashers. Save your precious time and use one for clean dishes and the other one for dirty dishes.

Do you think they made a mistake with the kitchen planning and forgot they had moved the dishwasher from one side to another? They could have put in a wine fridge or something to cover that kind of mistake...surely? Or is this a niche French thing I have never heard of?
I am still looking forward to the big reveal tho.

Unless the -er- 'guest' in the basement has gone they will need room for a washing machine in the kitchen !

Two dishwashers is ridiculous. It takes 5 mins to empty. I mean come on fern. It may be 5 mins less time that she's got to spend on herself but surely what else has she got to do all day while the kids are at school?. I know she's high maintenance but jesus she needs to giver her head a wobble. The kitchen and living room are in one room together, not a set up I particularly like but if you've only got one room then you gotta do what you gotta do........
