I loved SA and found it v safe, I didn't venture out in joburg but up around Kruger and a long the coast is wonderfulThere are people who go back time and time again, Sandy Lane Hotel has a lot of repeat guest of the celeb type who go year after year. The beach there is okay, not spectacular, lots of sun loungers with little privacy. There is literally nothing outside the hotels on that stretch of beach, well there wasn't when we went. The only thing we could rave about was The Cliff restaurant, it was fantastic with a great atmosphere. We did enjoy our holiday but wouldn't go back.
SA is on our want to go to wish list. Where did you go?
I am from SA and traveled often. Most countries not 100% but South Africa is beautiful, good people with lots to do and see. There are people who go back time and time again, Sandy Lane Hotel has a lot of repeat guest of the celeb type who go year after year. Definitely with you about Ibiza. There's something about the place which is so comforting and soothing. Not a country but Ibiza always feels like home & I love Scotland. Hated savannah in the USA
Agreed we had a villa in the middle of nowhere. And when we did venture to the big places I hated it. But away from there is full of natural beauty and as a last minute holiday that I booked on a whim. I really enjoyed it.I have to give a shout out for Lanzarote.
Stay away from places like Puerto Del Carmen. Playa Blanca is much nicer. Hire a car visit the old capital Teguise right in the centre of the island. one of the gallery owners has a goat that just roams around and the antique shops are amazing. Go to Famara beach no tourists miles of beach so beautiful. Visit everything connected to Cesar Manrique. He ensured that Lanzarote didn’t go the way of Tenerife. Go to the north of the island there is a beautiful lookout place and try and visit the island of Graciosa.
Ahaha I lived in Dubai, Hated it and always called in Essex in the sun!Favourite: Nepal and New Zealand. Jaw droppingly beautiful and in parts, so remote and empty of people. I remember standing on a beach on the west coast of South Island in NZ and thinking it was the most beautiful panorama I've ever seen: black sand beaches, huge waves, subtropical rain forest and snowy mountain peaks, all in one frame
Least favourite: Brussels in Belgium. Just very depressing. Felt like the poor man's France. Dubai: Westfield/Brentwood in the sun. Was also very underwhelmed by Australia: something very bland about it.
