“One is the toughest things I’ve put myself through”

eh duck off grace! Breastfeeding isn’t easy for everyone, I know that better than anyone, I overcame any obstacle that came my way to feed my two until they were both 2. Grace got it fairly easy in terms of supply and latch. Had great support around her too. I was hospitalised with mastitis twice. I would never describe BF as one of the toughest things I’ve put myself through. Something about the way that was said doesn’t sit right with me!
I hate the way she’s made breastfeeding out to be this horrible thing that only martyrs like herself could do and oh isn’t she so amazing! Its just the natural way to feed a bleeping baby. You don’t get any prizes for it so duck off looking for attention. She goes on like she’s the only mother in Ireland to ever Breastfeed 🤣 My god she is driving me insane lately! Her attention seeking knows no bounds!!
I would describe it as one of the toughest things ever. Like you I was hospitalised for mastitis. Fed through that but she just could maintain a latch.
But unlike grabby, I had no support what so ever.
There are much better Instagram account that talk about breastfeeding. But I wish there where accounts that talk about how god damn hard it is. I was left feeling like a failure and something was wrong with me because I found hard.

Showing alot of her "office space" especially her monitor, anyone notice the big mark on her screen? Who wants to bet she will receive a new monitor by next week..
So the monitor was damaged a few years back when she first moved house I remember her putting up a story and asking did anyone know what it was wrong with it

All that’s wrong with it is it’s turned off for 90% of the year

It’s hardly a bleeping office it’s a desk with a chair what most people had to do to work with Covid and a gaming station notions

I dont understand the vomit emojis about a woman discussing feeding her baby 🤷🏼‍♀️

Some women breast feed, some bottle feed, some combi feed, once baby is fed then thats all that matters. I dont like any of the shaming around how women choose to feed their babys. Not saying people on here are doing that but some of the comments do demonstrate how much of a personal/emotive topic it is for some and we still have some way to go before woman can feel content in how they feed- from breastfeeding in public without any second thought, to bottle/combi feeding without feeling it needs to be justified or owned up to.
Grace is no less of a breastfeeding mother for combi feeding, whether she "owns up to it" or not imo. She is still breastfeeding and still feels the struggle of that, I'd imagine even more so if her own supply wasn't sufficient. Others may feel differently, but breastfeeding can be such a personal journey for so many and while for some it can be purely physical and practical, for others it is an emotional topic that is wrapped up in elements of shame and guilt, as evidenced by some of the comments here.

Imo, a woman discussing any aspects of breastfeeding with honesty- that doesn't mean full disclosure either, before people say "yeah but she wasn't honest about the bottles"- is a good thing. Normalising how it can be difficult, even though its the "most natural thing in the world, what your body is made to do" is a good thing imo. Its not always easy, and not everybody's body gets the message that it "should" do it naturally. Everybody is different, just like with labour. No woman will tell me labour is a walk in the park and pain relief is never needed, when they weren't the one experiencing horrific back labour for 2 days. Every body is different and there is no medal to be won for having it harder or easier.

Thats just my (long!) opinion, as a woman who chose to bottle feed with no qualms btw, so its not like I have a vested interest in the topic, I just hate how much stigma there is surrounding how women feed their babies and mothers have enough criticism levelled at them for literally everything else they do, they don't to feel any shame/guilt every time they whip out the breast/bottle.

The problem with Grace was her usual. She claimed at the time BF was a breeze, everyone should do it.....blah..blah..blah...then after the fact came out and talked about how it was the hardest thing in the world.
She is disingenuous to her followers, noone is asking her to talk about how hard breastfeeding is while she's doing it, but Grace herself volunteered the info that it was the easiest thing in the world, like being a parent...
Thankfully it was my second time living the pumping/supply issues, I knew what I could do to help myself rather than listening to someone who gave no info, just blanket sound bite statements about her being a BF champion, supply issues are soul destroying, and having someone like grace blatantly lie over and over again while talking about how SHE is increasing breastfeeding rates is a kick in the teeth for anyone who is really struggling.
Nevermind the tit show she caused in various facebook groups, the sad face daily mail story, the Cow and Gate Saga.
It's nothing to do with if she breastfed or not, I couldn't give a shiny tit how she fed her child. but its Grace, she can't be honest about anything.
Doing this sort of crap over and over again alienates anyone watching her going through the same situation, it's like her MH statements the last while, anyone who is really struggling is possibly wondering why they can't just "brush it off" as Grace does.

I agree with what you’re saying. The thing is that grace deliberately hid the formula feeding and lied to her followers. She made herself out to be the BF representative of Ireland and even got a “Purple Heart” from that lactation consultant she promotes. If you’re using your platform to share your “journey” and making yourself out to be the queen of BF then you should be honest and say you struggled at times or couldn’t pump enough and supplemented. No one would care (ok, there are some who would but different debate for a different forum) and they’d appreciate the honesty and it would benefit BF and mothers so much because they’ll feel better about combo feeding. She’s selectively honest. She really made herself out to be a pure warrior by pumping at 5am and feeding on the grass in Portugal (remember that photo? Grace loves lying in the grass 😂😂) and it’s lovely to see and should be recognised but it can make other women feel bad, especially when she was combo feeding. It’s not admitting failure, it’s just being realistic. I know she had supply issues with sienna and the same thing was happening with Hayden because she kept going on trips away. That’s all normal and she could have been informative and helpful instead of posting pictures looking for praise. She did the same when she had sienna, she said babies were easy. Same with exercise. Her meals plans. Everything is “great” or “easy” to her followers but crumbling behind the scenes, the thing that’s wrong about it is how she portrays it and says she’s being honest when she isn’t.

Definitely not getting into a debate on BF, fed is fed in my opinion whatever any woman decides to do is totally up to her! But I had nooo idea Grace combo fed. Nothing wrong with it whatsoever but I was fully under the impression she exclusively breast fed the way she’s gone on.

She converted her smelly box room into an office! Why does she have an office in the first place? Absolutely no need! This is her ticking boxes in blaggerville! Travelled ✔Regular down to earth identifiable gal ✔ Makeup artist ✔ car✔ Baby ✔ Self employed girl boss ✔ Homeowner ✔ Fitness fantastic and health guru ✔Second baby ✔ Book clubs✔ Now super mom ✔ Interior designer ✔Engagement✔ Blagger with anxiety ✔ Wedding guru ✔Thrush survivor ✔She’s trying to reach out to the masses but unfortunately she’s only reaching those poor gullible souls who can’t see past her shadiness! They’re probably as lost as she is! Her next venture will probably be a mindfulness journal just like every other blogger, but hers will come with an incense holder and Zen Jen’s stamp of approval!

👏
She could have really encouraged a lot of women to give breastfeeding a go had she been honest about and explained combi feeding, but then she wouldn’t feel like the martyr she has portrayed herself to be! The supply issues only started after her being away from baby, anyone who breastfeeds and has a lactation consultant would know that being away from baby in the early days will cause a dip.
I couldn’t care less how anyone feeds their baby but when someone isn’t being honest to a large audience about breastfeeding it drives me mad! This girl is never honest about anything! She gives her followers a story about what her intentions are but never follows up. She’s a joke and I’m delighted to see people are waking up to her!

So she moved her desk around, sure has Chris not been in her “office” for a long time now? Or is this a different room? Groundbreaking Contenh!!

I don't understand why she keeps going on about giving up her space for Chris. Sorry but is it not his house too? Does he not deserve space in his own house? It's a 4 bedroom house and she takes up most of it with all her rit. He was at home working a proper job for weeks before she bothered her ass to let him have a proper work station for it when they have plenty of room.

Oh well this is info I didnt know sorry! So it was only after the fact that she discussed the difficulties? After claiming it was all a dream? That is obviously not appropriate.

I still don't feel she needs to "disclose" combi feeding. If she is breastfeeding then she still experiences the difficulties and joys of breastfeeding. Supplementing isn't some shameful secret, so I suppose one could argue that she shouldn't shy away from discussing that aspect too, but i don't agree that she should have to disclose it either....If that makes sense 🙃. Combi feeding is an element of the breastfeeding journey for many, it doesnt diminish the breastfeeding aspect. Sure it would be great for her to normalise it, i agree on that, it would remove some of the stigma some people feel about their own perceived failure on that front. But imo its not something that undermines her journey or takes away from everything else she discussed when it came to BF. Now, if she was claiming it was all super easy while struggling and supplementing, thats a whole different story!! So apologies if that's what people were saying, thats not the same thing as how i understood it to be.

BF a baby for a minute, hour, month, year or whatever are all valid journeys. It’s up to each woman. What you’re saying is right and she didn’t need to disclose anything but for me the issue is she was that she was portraying herself as one thing and painting this martyr image. She was using it as content, for praise, attention and sympathy. She was acting like she was the spokesperson for the women of Ireland. She selectively chose what to hide which meant she had negative feelings about combo feeding and this is from the problem - she attached negative connotations for other women looking on. This is from the woman who won’t stop talking about her thrush. She isn’t shy from withholding personal information. We all know everything about her own children.
It’s like her diets. She’ll go on about how easy and delicious the plan she’s being paid to sell is and in the background we see dominos boxes and pringles. It’s damaging.

Remember his “man cave” in what is now Hayden’s room? She showed it one day and it looked like a manky teenager bedroom. Clothes everywhere, unmade day bed (did be sleep there so grace could have one side of the bed for sleep and the other for naps? Who knows. Either way it’s now their young child’s full time bed. Disgrace. ) rubbish and glasses on the floor. They’re pigs.
