"Last week he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss. The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend. Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence."
I’m actually feeling anxious about all the drugs Rue’s mum flushed down the toilet and I don’t understand why Rue seems so calm about it and has apparently just slotted back into her high school life. That lady with the weird voice isn’t going to just let it go.
Anyone else super disappointed with how it's going so far? I feel like there's been so many sub plots just abandoned or rushed, and with one episode left idk where its going at all
They went really off track in the middle for a couple of episodes (3 and 4 maybe)…. theatrical shit that just wasted time that count have been spent on character or storyline development. Loved Ethan in the play - hope Nate doesn’t hurt him
The finale was really disappointing. So many things weren’t addressed. What about Laurie and the suitcase? The fact that season 3 isn’t coming til 2024 is ridiculous.
Minka Kelly's character was a bit of a letdown. A bunch of comments online were saying they got "groomer vibes" from her and the way she interacted with Maddy, but I just found a Vanity Fair article that explains her role as "being an older version of Maddy". The only way I see this paying off is if we see what Maddy gets up to as she moves past the Nate-Cassie debacle.
I know during one scene, she tells Samantha she's leaving, but this is a bit unclear, like is she graduating that year or is she just picking up and leaving town?
.
The constant time jumps are also confusing as hell! Especially
when it jumps from Rue and Lexi having their heart-to-heart and then cuts to the end of the play.
. It kind of forces the audience to piece together the puzzle ourselves.
But all in all, I enjoyed the season. Satisfying bits that happened:
-Nate getting f*cked up by Fez (although a bit gratuitous).
-Jules defining femininity on her own terms
-Cal's backstory and then his foyer scene.
-Rue's night of running/escape
-Barbara's last scene lol
-Ethan killing it in Lexi's play
-Sydney Sweeney's acting chops on full display
-Faye!
-Fexi!

Does anyone else deeply dislike Rue? I like Zendaya as an actress but I find Rue so one dimensional as a character. She's boring! There are too many "artistic" scenes in series 2 which take away from the story, some of it is like a GCSE film studies project.
I think it was a good portrayal of an addict. At first you sympathise with her, then you start to get pissed off with how many times she fucks up, especially when it starts affecting the people around her like her mum and her sister, who have also lost Rue’s dad (I speak as someone who has an alcoholic in the family).
I agree that we didn’t need all the dream sequences/church scenes/whatever though. There were so many loose ends left untied that it was a bit of a waste. Style over substance.
LOVE THIS SHOW!!! I’ve binged it over the last week and just watched the most recent episode this evening!!!!
Great soundtrack. Love the whole feel of it, the way it’s been shot and the dream sequences.
I’ve never watched Zendaya in anything before, I’d heard of her but never seen her in anything but she’s great isn’t she?! She plays the role of Rue so well.
I love the chemistry between Zendaya & Hunter - they have that great natural bond on screen that makes me root for them. Found it uncomfortable watching the motel sex scene with Cal & Jules, he is so creepy and Eric Dane is fantastic is the role - i
Enjoyed his episode and seeing his back story, starts to flesh the character out and things are failing into place.
Sydney Sweeney is mesmerising - I mean yes obviously she is beautiful and has an incredible body but I mean the way she’s so vulnerable and you can see the way she’s playing Cassie so well - the front she puts on when drunk or high and just desperate for love & attention. It’s sort of heartbreaking.
I liked the inital storyline with Kat, when she sort of found that bit of confidence and didn’t give a fuck and now the character is sort of lost a bit within the relationship with Ethan. I’m not sure where that’s going?
loved the Fez/Ash back story episode! Love that Fez has that soft side with the way he genuinely cares for Rue and seemed interested in lexi, I hope that storyline is explored more.
I love the sass that Maddy brings! She’s such a bad bitch, I love her!!!!!!
I love to hate Nate but I hope we eventually get some sort of redemption from him, he’s so broken and so damaged and I want him to find the good eventually. Do we think he really deep down WAS actually Tyler - that he exposed his real side to Jules even though he was catfishing her to screw her over??
the Mckey character is not returning I’m assuming? Or is he?
That play was a fab way of rounding out Maddy’s character, not just the card board cut out insta baddie. Also the bit by the bathroom door were it was obvious she did not give a shit about psychotic Nate but was gutted at losing her best friend.
It was interesting how much Rue enjoyed it, but that coupled with her ease with her mothers brutal honesty, shows that despite her anxiety being so bad it needs medicating she is very chill. The chat with her mum broke my heart.
Both Rue and Maddy seem ready to move to the next chapter of their lives looking to being eighteen and that things are not going to be the same,
I loved how Lexi’s mum was into the whole thing. I don’t know why they bothered even casting Kat in the play, like real Cat she was hardly in it. She also seemed totally surprised at the content, would her recent ex, who played two parts-smashingly I might add, not mention it to her at all. Lexi’s pal Poppy and Faye need bigger roles, as does Ethan. Bit sick of Cassie now. Evil Nate can stay-as long as he does not hurt Ethan too bad in the inevitable beating he will get.
That swat team better be for Cal and his grim video collection. Fezzco is hopefully just in a traffic jam and Ashtray is just playing on his Roblox, after throwing out Custer. Who really seems so super thick that the FBI relying on him seems a little off base.
Kat is so disjointed from the main plot line this season that there’s no reason for her to even be featured at this point. Her scenes are practically episode filler.
Great TV. Fexi holding hands put a tear in my eye. It’s so unbearably sweet.
The Kat/Ethan thing was odd, might as well have skipped it, though it is very teenage girl to pretend to have a brain disorder to get out of a relationship, and ignoring boyfriend to chit chat with friend.
I actually like how the parents and wider family’s are portrayed. Nate’s mum being all free, easy and very matter of fact with how he turned out, while his brother who seems remarkably well adjusted considering looks on in disgust. Cassie’s mother being sick to the back teeth of all the screaming and commotion. I too would want an hour free of shouting to watch millionaire matchmaker.
Rue’s mum and family and the effects of her drug problem. Her mum really breaks my heart.
I don’t think they are trying to redeem Nate in anyway, just show that like his father he is not all evil and twisted, like his mum said Cal had good points. It makes it more interesting. Cassie moving in is not a good idea.
Can’t wait till next week!
I think Jules not really noticing that Rue is off her block all the time is fairly realistic. No one else, apart from Gia has ether. Rue does seem a bit dopey, even when sober.
None of them have noticed that Nate and Cassie are shagging, Cassie losing her mind has only really been noticed by her mother, and Maddy, but not enough for her to voice any concern.
Kat hates her boyfriend and even he has not noticed.
Lexi is not noticing as she is getting her revenge with her play, and having a little thing with Fezco. The entire cast has not noticed any of the posters about her play plastered all over the school.
They are all a bit self involved. It’s very enjoyable.
Anyone else super disappointed with how it's going so far? I feel like there's been so many sub plots just abandoned or rushed, and with one episode left idk where its going at all
I watched season 2 episode 1 and wow, it was great. Fantastic cinematography and music. The characters are so well written. Interesting to find out Fez’s backstory and I like the idea of him & Lexi as a potential couple
