Tbh the recent film doesn't compare with the 1994 version which is leagues better - unless my nostalgic lens of watching it on VHS with my Nonna as a kid is causing bias. She was also rubbish in the most recent film.

I've always thought of her as incredibly sanctimonious and rightous.

I was a big Harry Potter fan as a kid and her interpretation of Hermione really annoyed me too.

I think when it comes to JK, Emma Watson gets an unfair go of it.

when it all kicked off there was pressure on all the cast to release statements and Dan, Emma and Rupert all released one. I remember being surprised at the time at how lightly her statement was worded. Dan if I recall, was very outspoken due to his links with The Trevor Project and Eddie Redmayne who was the lead in her movie was extremely outspoken yet all the headlines are this feud between Emma and Jk? Why’s that?

I don’t deny she has an air of self importance about her and she’s definitely won't be winning an Oscar any time but the whole she should kiss JK’s feet thing is a load of nonsense.

You're right that Emma is no worse than Daniel and the others who issued statements but they didn't need to say anything at all. They would all have done better to keep their traps shut instead of virtue signalling nonsense.

She seems, to me, to come from the Amanda Burton school of acting. The general demeanour is to have a smug, serious, 'worthy', slightly superior/ above it all expression and to be cast in roles that are slight extensions of themselves. When they have risked something a bit more challenging, the lack of range sticks out like a sore thumb. However, for some reason I quite like Amanda Burton and some of the work she has done. As I said before, I can't take to Emma Watson and perhaps it's because of her hypocrisy/ preachiness, as others have said.

I think Amanda Burton is smug and superior in real life to be fair.

I remember when she was on Masterchef she looked really annoyed at being around Alison Hammond.

I don’t think you could consider the line at the BAFTA’s the most public bashing we’ve ever seen but yeah it was a dig.

Just like JK, EW is entitled to her opinion and neither should be criticised for it imo (especially when Dan and Rupert also spoke out against her) but I do get the feeling the media have just jumped at the opportunity to turn this into another ridiculous catty female feud that probably doesn’t exist.

I think it’s mainly because Watson has given other women very high handed lectures about how they should think, feel and behave towards transwomen and been very dismissive of JK’s concerns from a position of immense privilege that means she doesn’t really understand them. And also described herself as a feminist in the same breath.

Watson tells other women they must ‘be kind’ and accept transwomen (or those who claim to be) in refuges, grape crisis centres, prisons, NHS hospital wards when it’s almost impossible that she or any of her loved ones would ever experience one and it’s not likely many women she’s ever known will either.

Rowling has and has insight into those experiences but Watson dismisses it.

The male stars may also speak out against Rowling but they’re not being as patronising towards women in general and in particular towards less privileged women whose rights they’re airily giving away when it has zero impact on them. The men aren’t unusual when they do because all men who do won’t be impacted by changes, Emma is unusual in being a woman who both speaks out about it and also has almost zero chance of being affected by any of the changes she wants. I think that’s why focus is on her.

I think none of the three would be really famous without Harry Potter. Emma and Daniel are very wooden actors (though I'm not very familar with his stage work). Rupert was the most talented of the three in my opinion, if anything.

I agree, the internet seems to love Daniel but I can’t stand him so my opinion might be biased but he’s just nothing special. Without HP, which was a one in a lifetime chance, he wouldn’t be anywhere. I know he had some roles before HP but he was painfully average always...and all the money he got as Harry made it possible for him afford his not so conventional filmography, he could do whatever he wanted without a worry…so yeah I can’t stand his smug face, same as with Emma

I agree wholeheartedly with what you say, but Daniel Radcliffe apologised on behalf if Rowling when she didn't ask him to, can speak very eloquently for herself and is an accomplished woman nit only old enough to he his mother but is responsible for everything he has. If that's not patronising, I don't know what is!

She sounds like someone who really knows what she want, until the next thing comes along that she really wants. Didn't know she dropped out of lots of courses. I though she went quite a prestigious uni after HP, but didn't hear anything after that.
