I do wonder how much she weighs…she still goes to weigh ins so I’m guessing she’s still not in a healthy range? Sorry being nosey
She said she was technically weight restored agesssss ago when she first claimed to have put on 10kg. But then she said she wanted to keep gaining to get her period back, but she still only talks about having gained 10kg, so I don't think she's gone past that. Recovering to a low BMI, even if it is above 18.5, is unlikely to be conducive with maintaining recovery long term. Also, I don't think she's at her natural set point, as if you see pictures from when she was competing in athletics she was a little bit heavier, and the lack of period is a red flag (I suspect the reason she is still going to weigh ins and is yet to be discharged).
I'm in recovery myself (very nearly there!!) after a relapse last year. When I first had anorexia 10 years ago, I was discharged at a BMI of 18.5. However, clinical thinking has changed now, and this time I have been told a BMI of 20 is minimum to avoid relapse. I also don't have my period back yet and the endocrinologist said I'd likely have to gain to BMI of 20 (and keep avoiding high intensity exercise) to get it back. I feel like there is 0 chance she will get her period back with her current position, but maybe her treatment team are old fashioned and consider 18.5 acceptable. She may end up going on the pill and get an artificial period (although this is now against NICE guidelines), but that would very much be a fake period and she would not be healthy!
