New to this thread. I’m so glad I’m not the only one that picked up on this! Used to enjoy her 9-5 London videos and what I eat in a day videos, but since she started the book ones it’s like watching an overexcited teenager.

I used to follow her but I can’t bring myself to watch her vlogs anymore. Her hand gestures are just plain embarrassing. She 30 but it sometimes seems as if she 13.

Um...she does paid partnerships in almost every vlog! She has even been called out in her comment section in the past due to the increase in ads on her channel. She will sell just about anything!

I haven't watched her latest vlog, but she's definitely aware that her content was more interesting when she worked a 9-5 and is trying to recapture that audience. The title of the vlog 'Working 9-5 in London' is definitely misleading!
Ellen has become more disingenuous than ever, it’s crazy! She’s flogged Suri toothbrush, Merit makeup/skincare, HelloFresh in the past and these are the ones I can remember.

Her engagement and views have been dwindling so no surprise that her latest vlog is based on a 9-5 content which was what attracted viewers like myself to her page in the first place.

Instead of trying to become another generic cookie clutter influencer, why can’t she get another job? I reckon she’d be more successful and her content will be more relatable, but nope she’s happy to drive from one Waterstones to the other in the name of working!

Tbh, the hand movements are irritating, but also are the constant crotch/bum shots. Why put the camera at minge level? It's very inelegant and a little unsavoury.
Ellen, if you read here, please put it away and show a little more class!

Thanks for making the thread :)

I really liked Ellen back when she was in her flat and working corporate life . Found her at around 2k subs I think ? Since she quit that job and became full-time influencer she has become very unrelateable and out of touch . Sponsorships in so many videos now ( not declared properly with ASA guidelines either ) and the hand gestures and over reactions are just TOO much for me .

How interesting...most recent vlog, Ellen states that she doesn't get "boxes delivered" and doesn't do paid partnerships/advertisements. Today, in her London Diaries short film, she's advertising 'Mejuri' jewellery!

I'm embarrassed for her!

The truth has emerged about her leaving her 9-5 and going full-time on YouTube. In her latest vlog she says the company she worked for changed their social media policy and the new policy meant that she would have to quit YouTube completely - so she chose YouTube over her 9-5. Sounds as though the company was keeping close tabs on her too - she mentioned that they watched a lot of her videos.

Also is it just me or is she very eager to start growing their family?? She’s mentioned it a few times and now in this vlog she was talking about growing family, babies and dogs. Slow down!!

Clearly keen to have the wedding and move on to the next phase of her life which is being a beige Surrey yummy mummy.

Jess is brilliant,im only hoping she doesn't do the same as Ellen. Recently noticed a few undeclared gifted items and forcing the camera into her boyfriend/family members faces. Jess is definitely more likeable and I think her boyfriend is quite down to earth and won't allow the pretentious influencer behaviour to take over, unlike Ellen, who doesnt appear to live in the real world, everything is comfy, cozy and cute 🤢
I absolutely love Jess’ vlogs. I’d be gutted if she quit her job and went full time influencer. I agree though, I can’t see her other half being fully on board if that happened.

I’m not sure I can see Ellen going back into the corporate world. I feel like Cameron probably does very well, and so Ellen is fully embracing becoming a Surrey housewife / influencer. I wouldn’t be surprised if she has a baby shortly after their wedding too.

Wedding is over. She spent so much time planning that. Now what?
You can't have seen her latest videos, otherwise you'd see what a busy and fulfilling life she has - online shopping for cardigans, pyjamas, tiny tops and jeans / baking cakes for Cameron / journaling and contemplating life plans (house in Surrey - tick / married by 32 - tick) / folding washing / visiting bookshops and reading / going to garden centres and watering the pots in her garden / uploading a video a week / (luxury) holidays/weekends away and 'date nights'.

What time, with such a hectic schedule, would she have to fit in anything else....?! Me, with my full time job and running a home/garden single handed, is exhausted by her daily schedule and full of admiration for such an inspiring, modern woman.....!

Tbh I think they rely much more on Cameron’s income than she has let on. Also, maybe she got a good chunk of money from selling her old flat and she’s dipping into that? All her material is recycled and over done with very little relatability. I’d much rather watch someone’s repetitive 9-5 videos rather than them waffling around at home all day.
I agree, I can't see how her income from YouTube alone can be completely funding her lifestyle. Maybe we are underestimating what she's earning, but she said herself that she's earning a lot less now than when she was in her 9-5. Added to that, her channel is not growing at all. I'd guess that she's actually losing viewers at this point. She is simply not as enjoyable to watch as she used to be - not since she adopted this OTT YouTube persona she has going on.

I've mostly stopped watching her vlogs now, along with a number of others I would once watch weekly. I find that after six months to a year I start to lose interest when content becomes lacklustre, repetitive and then everything becomes an ad. It's a shame, but it seems to happen with most, if not all, YouTubers I've watched.

I enjoyed Jess Harris for a while, but lately I've been losing interest in her vlogs and just not enjoying them as much as I used to. I also noticed her tagging that Beyond Nine brand non-stop until she finally got a freebie. Mission accomplished. Yawn.

Today's vlog was quite short but so boring and she's becoming more and more removed from reality. Titting about spending a shitload of money on expensive clothes, face cream and books (Waterstones must surely be THE most expensive place to buy books!) when she doesn't have a regular income, then making some biscuits. She lives the life of a rich and retired pensioner! She's now so unrelateable to most people, and not just of her age.

Cameron met her when she was working in a corporate job. How soon before he becomes bored of what limited conversation she must have, unless he wants a Stepford Wife.
It feels a lot of YouTubers are really struggling for content at the moment. Very few have unique or original ideas.

As soon as the words 'spend a cosy week/day/ weekend with me', appear, you know it's going to be a bit yawn.

When she first said she was leaving her corporate job, I thought she would give a lot more insight about how it feels to leave the corporate world and be self-employed. About the financial/personl/ creative struggles and shifts that come with such a huge change. Instead she basically acts like she still has a 9-5 and doesn’t give us any actual personal insight at ALL. Her channel feels extremely performative now, vs before it really felt like a hobby or passion of hers.

No wonder she is whizzing through her life milestones, her besties all have babies. So she must feel behind. Keeping up with the Joneses 101.
Her big break-up definitely threw her timeline off by a year or two. If that guy hadn't dumped her then I'm sure she'd also be married with a baby just like her besties. Still, she did well to find Cameron and move at the speed of light to get everything back on track!

I just started watching her latest vlog and she's once again waving her hands around and clapping like a mad thing - so if anyone thought she was starting to tone it down that didn't last long!

Just watching the latest vlog and I've given myself a headache with my eye rolling! Effing hell, she's even referring to her new handbag at 'she/her' now (and more bastard boring book shopping and banging on about iced chai, oh just piss off!).

This last video was a hard watch, and I’m guessing majority of her viewers feel the same way judging by the shocking low views.

She’s put together and is selling a bridal checklist of some sort which feels like a pyramid scheme; wedding planning has been so easy for me, give me ££ and I’ll show you how you can plan an expensive stress free wedding too.

I must have missed the part where she thanked the bank of mum and dad for contributing generously and alleviating the stress! She stopped living in the real world when she quit her job and it shows!

I really enjoyed Ellen's vlogs when she lived in her flat, but actually unsubbed from her a few months ago as I find her so annoying now. I will still watch a vlog here and there but her behaviour has changed since she decided to become a full-time influencer. It's like she feels she has to be super upbeat and positive at all times. Her behaviour is very OTT with lots of hand clapping and squealing.I don't remember her ever being this highly excitable back when she lived in her flat. It's just annoying.

I never remember her being much of a reader, but she suddenly hopped on the BookTube bandwagon in order to broaden her appeal and bring more viewers in. She's very calculated in her approach to influencing and is all about hitting targets and bringing the numbers in. She once said she labelled her Autumn vlogs as 'Fall' vlogs in order to gain an American viewership. She'll also accept any Ad or sponsorship she is offered.
