We did it for 4 years. Kids are now 14 and 12 so obviously we haven't done it for a few years now but they do still return for a north pole breakfast the weekend before Christmas. You're never too old for some Christmas magic

Just another thing to add to the pressure of Christmas already. I never started and I never will. Some of the posts I see on Instagram about it are beyond, do they really have that much money to spend just to get a reaction? fair enough if they do but don’t be gloating about it making all us non elf believing skint mums feel bad 
Elf on the shelf is nothing but a brag a thon. My socials are FILLED and the expense some people have gone too!! If it’s for the magic and your children great. But if it is why are you posting on social media every single night what you’ve done with the elf. It’s like the finale every year to the mum olympics. Tis the season to show off.
We do the elf but it is never anything that requires any imagination or tidying! On the 1st Dec, he arrives with a Christmas jumper or pj's, a Xmas book and their advent calendars. All things I would of got them anyway. On the 24th he beings their stocking and plate for father Christmas. My kids love it though!
