Oh dear. If you don’t want to read and engage on the gender discussion thread why should anyone bother to explain it to you here?

By the way, you don’t need dysphoria to be trans and it’s considered transphobic to assume you do.

And a woman is an adult human female. There is no “idea of womanhood” beyond that.

I don't really like Dylan but it doesn't reflect on my appreciation of the journey of transgender people, same way I was an awful driver I wouldn't want everyone to try and ban all women from the road.
From someone “within the community” (I’m a lesbian but feel zero solidarity with so called trans women) you might be interested to know that a huge portion, possibly even most of the gender critical movement are members of the LGBT community. We see how this ideology is used to turn masculine girls into straight men and feminine boys into straight women. We witness trans women first hand using their male dominance to invade lesbian spaces. We hear their regressive ideas around gender stereotypes and their total delusion when it comes to basic concepts like attraction and human sexuality. Stick your “be kind” and your “transgender journey” crap up your a***, we have these opinions because we know how awful this ideology is and have taken the time to educate ourselves. Please check out the gender thread on here, or read some work by feminists on the issue.

I'm sorry you feel that way but its great to hear those things from that perspective so thank you for sharing. I don't think you needed that piece at the end. We can have a discussion without it becoming nasty.

I would be of the belief that transgender women are that, transgender women. I wouldn't call them women but I would use appropriate pro-nouns that make them happy and feel comfortable. So I'm not as far leaning as you think.

There is another thread for this debate... this is about Dylan and what a prat they are.
Haha I agree to that too. I think a lot of what is said in this thread borders on the other though. Some people are clearly in here not because Dylan is a prat but because they think transgender people are wrong.

But I would agree I think she’s a prat

Why do you call Dylan “she”?
Have you properly thought about it?
I’d love to know the thought process, honestly.

I find the whole pronoun thing baffling. You don't use someone's pronouns when talking to them only about them. They won't know if I call them she/he or whatever as they aren't involved in the conversation.

I honestly don’t think a lot of them even know what pronouns are. Just after the Queen died there were a fair few of them on Twitter talking about how people don’t have a problem using the pronouns ‘queen’ and ‘king’ even though those aren’t pronouns.

Sweeping generalisation, a couple of people on twitter don't represent the vast majority of transgender people you have never met or will never put yourself in a situation to learn from. The problem with the internet is those voices are elevated because of the reactions gender critical people have to them, so you find them but don't find the good hearted, well measured people because they don't get put to your timeline. Its like me thinking everyone who looks like Andrew Tate is exactly like him because he is pushed the front because of his views being inflammatory, but I know enough about people to consider maybe he doesn't represent everyone.

Because even if I don't enjoy her videos I still think its the kindest thing to do, respect someone's comfort levels. If I knew a woman who changed her name or had a nickname because she experienced trauma to do with the name she was born with, I wouldn't go around calling her the name that would hurt her. Plus I know there are an enormous amount of trans people who by hearing someone use someone else's preferred pronouns feel safer for it.

I have properly thought about it. Pronouns are used everyday for the simplest things, there really isn't much harm in making one person feel comfortable.

Also when it comes to Dylan, we see what, one minute of her everyday if we are tuning in? Theres more than a thousand other minutes in the day we don't, everyone is acting on social media in someway and for a child of theatre I'm sure she is exaggerating everything around her for views etc because thats what TikTok is, and its worked so she continues to play more of that character. Anyone you watch though is the same. I don't like the content but that doesn't mean I actually know if she is a good person or not.

I think he's a creep who assumes women wear pink, scream when they see insects and go everywhere in high heels.

Who said I was talking about ‘transgender people’? I didn’t. Perhaps in your hurry to get your little preachy frisson you should stop putting words in peoples mouths and making assumptions.
I wasn’t talking about the mythical ‘transgender people’ I was talking about the kind of people who constantly police others about their pronoun use. There’s a lot of them about, even on here.

Because you said 'them'. It felt very targeted at the group of people who are asking for their pronouns to be accepted. I would ask for a kinder conversation but preachy frisson is too good of a term for me to reply with that, thank you for adding that to my vocabulary 😂 I love it!

Anyway not everyone with a pronouns on their profile is going around like that policing people. I don't get in any situations where I would have to I suppose so maybe thats why I don't. Thank you anyway for replying.

I always wonder about creators like Dylan in the future, there are so many massive content creators now, what happens to them in five years when nobody cares?

Videos on TikTok, content. Do you mean it more in a 'deeper meaning' Jordan Peterson way? What exactly is content, or anything?

Serious answer, Dylan is a creator of content. You might not like the content, I don't anyway but she is a content creator. A bad movie is still a movie.

Thanks for the response. I loathe his 'content', with a passion.

I think these issues come with varying degrees of context and I don't think one case of someone's transgender identity should reflect on everyones but a lot of what is being posted here doesn't feel very reflective of facts. I've only known one transgender person and they came to the realisation at 50 years of age but this whole 'agenda' idea that people want to 'mutilate' young people is absurd.

I respect everyone is allowed have their opinions and since I don't fall in the LGBT community I can't talk for anyone in it but it just feels like a lot of people in this thread just don't like transgender people and could benefit by actually talking to some about their experiences of dysphoria and the humanity of it. This all feels very THEY'RE COMING TO TAKE OUR CHILDREN!

If people in here quote people like Matt Walsh and push his rhetoric and films you've already lost on human decency alone. The man says that children who are r**ed by their father should be forced to bring the child to term.
Many trans people are gender critical actually.
Even on the gender critical thread there is a transwoman who shared our views.
There are YouTube channels about it, Instagram accounts etc.

Still can’t get over the whole ‘barbie pouch/pocket’ thing. People defend Dylan by saying it’s needed to get around tiktok censors but you can do that without using such derogatory language.

sure, we only see one minute of his day. but with that one minute he chooses to put out the most narcissistic, degrading and misogynistic content imaginable. that’s how I know he’s not a ‘good person’ lol

you are going to be judged on what you put out there. He has collaborated with Jeffrey marsh whose entire shtick is telling kids their parents don’t love them and rando trans adults online are safe to talk to. When Dylan makes response videos, for example to Caitlin Jenner or to the girl who was parodying him, he is seething, delivering thinly veiled threats with a smile. his response video to the girl who made a parody of him was frankly psychopathic. his hatred and jealously of women is very evident to me. And dont get me started on his poncy obsession with little girls and referring to womens genitals using names of childrens toys. Anyone who indulges in this blokes delusion by calling him ‘she’ is nuts imho
