Happy friday everyone! End of homeschool (hopefully) too which is what ramped up my drinking so glad to have some more time at home to focus on myself and my health rather than crying into a gin!

I have planned a few social things to do from next week now we can have two households in a private garden. Bless, my bestie who I always get drunk with messaged saying "what shall I bring, if you are still not drinking do you want some 0% stuff?" and I realised what great friends I have that there is no pressure there to drink
Love that, so thoughtful! I think I will fall off the wagon when we can socialise a bit more but will still be tracking in the app and planning when to drink.

Congrats all! I must admit I drank more in March than initially anticipated, but still much better than before. I’m also planning to drink on Easter Sunday and then hoping to abstain till May.
@SpiceWeasel going back to work will be a definite good motivation to continue. You’ve done amazing.
@Prgirl_cesca nice to have such supportive friends. My lot are terrible drunks. Sometimes I worry if that’s the only thing we have in common.

morning, alkies 😂. Although the only one in this thread right now is me. Everyone’s done so well. I am ashamed to admit I’ve relapsed in my all or nothing style, and drank throughout the whole weekend. and of course the rest has followed: feeling guilty, fat, emotional etc. I’m posting here, because you lot never judge and support. Onwards and upwards, I’m back on track and back to my gym ( aka garage). Weightlifting has been my saviour. I’m feeling better today. Have a nice day guys. Sun is shining here in Essex. Who needs Maldives for ffs 😂 💙❤
Please don’t beat yourself up ❤ you’re doing so well too!!! Just think how many of those weekends you would have had if you hadn’t started actively trying to cut down. For me that was pretty much every weekend even pre covid when it became a week not a weekend! I would be able to count on one hand the booze free days in a month during the first lockdown. Just remember this isn’t the teetotal for life thread and even though it’s always called ‘Dry [Month]’ it is more just a supportive place for us lot trying to drink less than we all did last year 😊 I will inevitably fall off the wagon in spectacular fashion seeing as I am incapable of doing things by halves! Just get back on track but please don’t feel guilty about your weekend. We’ve got this 💪 also enjoy the sunshine, it’s grim here and there’s a storm on its way! Xx

Here you all are! I’m in for March.

I had my first drink of the year last Saturday, just one whisky. It was fine, but I didn’t enjoy it like I thought I would and I can’t be bothered to do it again. Staying dry til I can go to the pub - at which point I will be the opposite of dry!

I had a can of raspberry mojito on Mothers Day and felt totally satisfied with just that! Another booze free weekend for me ahead.

Loving coop 0.5% alcohol Sauv Blanc as it has just that slight alcoholy taste like wine. Also whoever recommended the Crushed Mint Robinsons cordial, omg I mixed with lemonade and loads of ice and it tasted just like a mojito! So will probably have that at some point too :)
Oh I’ll give her coop one a go. I love the mint robinsons too and tried a sparkling frexinet rose 0.5% from Sainsbury’s which was lovely.

Goodness...I have really struggled with my eyes in the past year or so but they seem to be getting better recently and Sober Girl Society shared info on their IG today about the liver connect with the eyes: "The liver meridian is connected to the eyes, and the visual ability mainly relies on the nourishment of liver blood. Therefore, the eyes can reflect the function of the liver: insufficient liver blood may cause dry eyes and blurred vision; hyperactivity of the liver fire will lead to pain and swelling of the eyes."

OMG was my problem all the long that I had been drinking too much?!

I think this is why I love this thread. It's not about 'Dry March' (the title literally only comes because we have continued the threads since official Dry Jan), it's about our members wanting a life change. Wanting to see what a life with reduced alcohol looks like. Some of us are completely dry, others have had a couple of drinks in total, others have had full on binge weekends...but our commonality is we all value our lives and want to try and live without the terrible way we all feel after drinking.

I know things will shift and change when life gets back to normal, but I just feel great not drinking!!
i completely agree with you! I feel amazing not drinking, not even craving it. My mental health has never been better and it’s so great waking up with a clear head every morning 😁

Hey 👋
I have not had a drop and hell yeah, I’m up for dry April! I am so shocked at how easy I have found this.

@Pinkpen 84 it’s great that you have been able to see a difference. You are doing really well 😊

Thanks so much guys. You are so and so amazing and I am so happy to have found you. I wish I stopped hating myself so much and stop being such a perfectionist.
I’m missing gyms so much and found this lockdown to be much tougher this time.Nothing gives you more endorphin than good old barbell or ass kicking HIIT class. Not long now. 😘❤

Aww thanks @Pinkpen 84 😊 I’m glad you’re doing and feeling better, important not to beat yourself up when you do have a drink though! I’m looking forward to having a beer next Sunday, for some reason I’m really craving Guinness lol I’m making Guinness chocolate cupcakes with Baileys buttercream icing to give boxes of away next weekend and will have a couple of cans left over from the 4 pack I bought to make them, mmm 😂 would absolutely kill for a fresh pint of Guinness poured on draught in Ireland though, hopefully gonna get there this summer!

I made a new friend through one of my hobbies last year, we’ve only met the once but been texting each other loads and were chatting the other day about what to do when we can meet up. She said ‘I hope you don’t mind but I’m not a big drinker, like I don’t mind drinking but a night out really isn’t my cup of tea’ I was like that is FINE!!! 😍 Looking forward to having a friend who’s happy to go for a coffee and a day out doing something rather than all my other friends who just want to go out and get smashed every weekend!

I think I’m going to pause on Mother’s Day too. Not a mum but cooking mine a special dinner! Proud that it will be over 70 days by that point.

I still haven’t quite recovered from St Patrick’s 2015 😂 *shudders*

Really looking forward to going out for a beer somewhere but think I’m over drinking at home. Came back from Aldi yesterday having stocked up on the cucumber and mint tonic and the bag was clinking, next door neighbour was outside bet he thought it was wine 🤣
