I have planned a few social things to do from next week now we can have two households in a private garden. Bless, my bestie who I always get drunk with messaged saying "what shall I bring, if you are still not drinking do you want some 0% stuff?" and I realised what great friends I have that there is no pressure there to drink

I’m teetotal but I will join for support if that’s ok? I quit Jan 2020, it was dry jan that got out of hand 😂

I started on 1st March. I found the first couple of weekends really tough. After dinner I would go for a shower, brush my teeth & put on my dressing gown, which was a new routine that helped.
I thought my skin would suddenly look amazing and my running times would get loads better and I would immediately lose weight. None of that has happened 🤣 but super happy of my 22 days of no drinking and I'm sure it's helped my mental health.
Thanks to everyone who has posted 🙏

I won’t go into it but I had some concerning news at the weekend (not me) hopefully all is going to be okay and everything should be clear by the end of the week but I really made me think about my relationship with alcohol as an emotional crutch. My first thought when the news was delivered was that I wanted a drink, and normally speaking it would be a given that I’d have one. I took a step back though and thought is this going to improve the situation though? No. I’m anxious and I would be 10x worse if I was drinking. Also struggling to sleep because I am worried which it also wouldn’t help. I’ve been keeping up with my running and certainly feel a lot calmer than if I wasn’t. Not that I am particularly calm right now but I’m just trying to find ways of distracting myself with odd jobs etc. Today marks 21 days of Lent 😊 which is how long I lasted doing Dry Jan, I am amazed and proud I’ve managed to go 6 full weeks without any alcohol this year. My head was all over the place last year and I put it down to the stress of the pandemic but I think my mind was just so clouded from all the booze I did to cope with that I couldn’t think straight.

Hope everyone is doing okay, love our little sober support club ❤

Well done @comment on life - did you plan to or just haven’t felt like it? I had 4 drinking nights in February, could have really done just 2 I think.
To be honest I think I drank so much in 2020 that I was just entirely over it. I absolutely think I will drink again when we are allowed to interact with others but while lockdown is ongoing I'm pretty happy to steer clear of the booze. Cant say being off it has helped my sleep/weight etc but it has for sure helped my wallet 🥳

I find the app really helpful for the way it phrases things, a dry day is great but a reduction as a general trend is also a big step that takes commitment and hard work. A bit of drizzle in amongst the dry spells!
I think this is why I love this thread. It's not about 'Dry March' (the title literally only comes because we have continued the threads since official Dry Jan), it's about our members wanting a life change. Wanting to see what a life with reduced alcohol looks like. Some of us are completely dry, others have had a couple of drinks in total, others have had full on binge weekends...but our commonality is we all value our lives and want to try and live without the terrible way we all feel after drinking.

I know things will shift and change when life gets back to normal, but I just feel great not drinking!!

I’m still going. Haven’t been completely dry since dry jan finished but I’ve cut down so much - only had 6 instances where I’ve had a drink or two rather than the bottle or two I’d usually sink on a weekend. Feeling much better.

I nearly cracked yesterday, no particular reason tbh I was just in a ‘fuck it’ sort of mood. Totally trashed my diet with a massive Chinese and a slice of cake my mum dropped off but at least managed to stay off the booze 😊 slept like crap probs cos of all the sugar and salt but hey ho, at least I’m not hungover! Happy Friday guys ❤

I’ve loved still having this thread tbh, every time I’m thinking of cracking I come and have a read! So uplifting! I’m still tracking in the app too. Have really minimised drinking (and I mean, by 95%) for another month, after total dry jan. Well done everyone still trucking!! Feels really good to have restructured and reset my attitude to alcohol? And knowing others in the same boat. Thanks guys ❤

I’m also going to attempt continuing with dry April. I think even when outdoor things open (if they do from this month) I’ll give a miss just to ensure!

I’ve also realised not drinking alcohol is really helping with my pcos and losing weight. I’ve lost more weight being drink free over last three months then I lost last year whilst also having a tipple calorie counting!!

well done to everyone whether your booze free or cutting down! We’ve done so well 👏

Well done to everyone who completed dry March/ cut down! Debated giving myself an exemption for drinks over the Easter weekend but have decided to fully commit to dry April. Will be tough not having a few drinks over the long bank holiday but it's refreshing to think of things to do where the focus isn't alcohol.

I haven't had a drop since New Years Day but I'm now in this weird zone of - so am I never drinking again or what?

Maybe when humans are allowed to interact again and we can all come out of our bunkers I will go back to it. Well done to everyone that reduced their intake or quit altogether for March! :)

I've decided to have a half-dry March, so I hope it's okay if I join in! :) I realised last week that I've been overdoing it a tad with the booze lately, so my plan is to take two weeks off until my birthday on the 20th. On day 3 now and enjoying waking up much less bleary. Alarmingly, I don't think I've gone two weeks in a row without booze for about a decade, so if I manage this I'll be pretty impressed with myself!

morning, alkies 😂. Although the only one in this thread right now is me. Everyone’s done so well. I am ashamed to admit I’ve relapsed in my all or nothing style, and drank throughout the whole weekend. and of course the rest has followed: feeling guilty, fat, emotional etc. I’m posting here, because you lot never judge and support. Onwards and upwards, I’m back on track and back to my gym ( aka garage). Weightlifting has been my saviour. I’m feeling better today. Have a nice day guys. Sun is shining here in Essex. Who needs Maldives for ffs 😂 💙❤
Please don’t feel ashamed, like you said we’re all here for support and help. Sounds like you’re back on the right track and that’s the important bit :)
I was quite tempted by a prosecco last night, but I’d quite like to make it to 90 days then reassess.

Parking. I drank in feb, but tracked, and probably drank in the month what I would have in a quiet week last year! Feel like I can make more of an effort this month, I enjoyed having flexibility to drink if I wanted, but really did not enjoy the hangovers.

I’m still going too! Haven’t even thought about having alcohol and I’m loving it! Now if only I had the same willpower with working out 🤦🏼‍♀️ I’m putting off doing some weights and abs right now.

Hey all. I did have a little drink at the weekend to celebrate end of home learning/getting a massive work project delivered. But now back on it again. It’s good being able just to have a couple whereas before dry jan I would sink at least a bottle of wine/fizz and start on a second.

Hi all definitely up for a (mostly!) dry April. We've been cutting down our alcohol consumption as more of a goal rather than cutting out completely. Since New Year husband and I have drank 3 times, once in Feb, twice in March so we're calling it "once a month" which I think is pretty good. Have sort of vague plans this month for a bbq for my friends birthday, if the weather is OK ofc, so thats the only real time I can see myself having 1 or 2.

Once things open (bars, restaurants, hotels) I do expect I'll drink more regularly but that was always my plan.
