My stepmum told me not long after I had my second child that I lost the weight much quicker when I had my first child!
My mum - about a week after my first miscarriage asked why I was upset. I said why do you think and she said “oh I thought you’d be over that by now” 😮

Reading this thread, just wanted to say some people are absolute holes aren't they?!

Also lots of sympathy to those where it's a parent making the cruel comments ❤❤ I always think that in life your mum and dad should be your biggest cheerleaders, mine always were.
Slightly O/T.

It‘s only now that I’m older that I realise how seriously disordered my mum’s eating was the whole time we were growing up. Any time she saw me or my sister eating biscuits or cake, she’d comment that we’d get large. She had stacks of slimming magazines piled all around which she made us read and she was always really critical of how we looked but at the same time as deliberately making us look tit, like when she cut our lovely long hair badly to collar length or put us in awful oversized clothes. One of my abiding memories is her telling me she was ashamed of me and she wonders why we don’t have a close relationship now.

“Is that what she looks like now,” was said about me by the village gossip, right after she was incredibly sickly sweet to my face! I was so hurt that I have completely avoided her ever since, if I see her I literally put my head down, turn around and walk out. There’s just no need to be so unkind! I hate it!

Totally random. Many years ago I was walking along a road and some man heading towards me had to comment as he passed that I was the most disgusting looking female he’d ever seen. Quite frankly he looked pretty grim himself and his opinion was of no consequence, but how rude to make such a nasty comment to a total stranger.

10 times out of 10 it’s always the very unfortunate looking types that feel the need to project and make themselves feel better.

I can relate to so many of the critical Mum comments - it really does stay with you and the whole sticks and stones theory does not apply at all IMO.

My dad said to me after mine "the baby would have been r*****ed anyway"
Wow! Parents can be delightful.. I’ve lost 3 babies, I had 2 miscarriages and lost my first son when I was 5 months pregnant. When I finally got my first baby that I got to full term with (he’s 13 now) my mum booked a holiday around my due date because SHE couldn’t cope with anything going wrong! We now have a relationship on my terms and I keep her at arms length lol

I’ve just remembered one from years ago. I was a bit of an weird duckling at school but improved with age. I was in a pub where I grew up and some guy started chatting me up. We suddenly realised we’d been at school together and he blurted out, ‘you were a minger at school but you’re fit now! Want to go out next week?’

No, mate, no I don’t.

I used to work with my now husband and his mums ex. His mums ex was a 5ft nothing dumpy bald man, alcoholic and creepy. We were all at the pub after work and I was in my favourite top at the time, size 12, 11 stone and 19. He asked loudly if I was pregnant, never wore that top again and still to this day think of it. 😠

My dad once asked me if I had to buy two plane seats, I am 5' 4" and 11 stone, exactly half a stone overweight 😂

My aunt told once "Oh you've lost weight, you were huge". Cheeky cow, I had just given birth the last time I had seen her.

That's so awful. When I was about 17 and walking to work, some random old guy felt the need to tell me "cheer up love it might never happen". I wasn't in a bad mood, I was just a young girl minding my own business with a neutral expression on my face, but it made me self conscious after that that I had resting witch face. Even now I have this urge to smile a bit when I pass someone. Strange how these things stay with you.

I remember this little tit of a boy in Year 8 loudly saying "you've got a big nose" to me in front of my class. I just wanted the ground to swallow me up and still think of good comebacks I should have said to this day lol - 20ish years later lol. I've grown to love my nose but wished for a nose job for most of my teenager years thanks to comments like that 😡

Same here, I have a bank of comments over my physical appearance which my lovely parents, especially my mum would refuse to believe. My appearance and build is definitely why I'm single, but one incident which springs to mind was when a younger boy told me his sister (who I really liked) hated me. I asked why she would hate me when she didn't know me and the reply was, 'Probably your nose and your teeth.'

Yep, I'm a real catch.
