@Codiaeum how you doin? Have you found a new job yet?
Awww, thank you so much for asking @tomato_paste@Codiaeum how you doin? Have you found a new job yet?
Oh yeah, I wouldn't touch crypto with a 10 barge pole tbh, so I totally get youAwww, thank you so much for asking @tomato_pasteHaven't found anything yet, there frankly isn't much on the market right now and what is there is often very shady stuff. While I love working in tech, I'm not ready or willing to put my toes into crypto
Will be interesting to see how things pan out now that old gaslighting guy was booted. I still have a lot of doubts about my role, but with him out it'll be a lot more manageable I guess. It's only been a week since he was shown out the door though.
How about you?
Aww, yes, feature freeze time, always a fun time coming up and not at all anxiety inducing. I hope you feel better soon and that it's not too bad at workOh yeah, I wouldn't touch crypto with a 10 barge pole tbh, so I totally get youNice to hear the dude's been fired, I'm glad to hear it! Hopefully things will improve for you!
Well I'm struggling with depression so my work's been suffering but they've been super understanding. I just feel super guilty because I haven't been very productive at all and we're nearing feature freeze and my stuff not ready yet. Cutting it close this time and it's super anxiety inducing. Let's see if they're gonna fire me lol.
Oh I feel you and this post so much!I have worked in the health and social sector for over 11 years. I currently work in the nhs on a rehab ward as a band 3. My ward is now changing and band 3 is being demoted to band 2 and 9 hcsw are being made redundant which includes me. I have a job back on my old ward in elderly mental health but I just feel it's the same old crap
Always short staffed, pts at risk, incompetent lazy staff who don't get pulled up, agency/bank workers who do the bare minimum and are paid more than you. (Not all agency/bank workers) I'm currently doing a psychology degree, I have my nvq level 3 in health and social care and I also have my NVQ level 3 in childcare and education. I've said if I go back to my old ward and hate it then I will change out of healthcare and do something else, the issue is I don't know what else to do
I'm not someone to sit behind a computer or sit all day, I'm very hands on, but health isn't brilliant especially my spinal/kidney/heart health and multiple autoimmune diseases and fibromyalgia. I'm just fed up and frustrated at what I want to to do. Even when I complete my psychology degree I have no idea what I want to do with it. I do like mental health, forensic psychology and counselling but hard to get anything when no jobs come up and I've not completed my degree for another 2 years.
Did you ask for the reason why your raise was less than the other people's?I don’t hate my job but I just got a rubbish pay-rise whereas the majority of everyone else got a very good one. There’s two jobs that interest me but both are further from my current job/house so would cost more in petrol plus probably will be less money (highest end is similar to my current wage).
They put everyone on the same wage but then nights get a night bonus (not sure that’s the right word) added to pay each month. Means I get £65 a month more than days. I work on average less hours a week but I don’t think it’s worth the feeling tired constantly even when I’m off for £65 a month more. It was worth it when I was on more money than themDid you ask for the reason why your raise was less than the other people's?
I'd be interested to hear if you are still teaching or if you escaped and if so what are you doing now?At a point in my life where I honestly don't know what to do. I'm a teacher and have always wanted to be a teacher and I've been teaching the last seven years and now......the last thing I want to do is teach. I am so over it. But that's what I'm qualified to do.
Even if I went back to school, I still have no idea what I want to do. I'm really struggling right now.
It’s kind of a weird situation. I am, unfortunately, still teaching but I’m taking a year to teach in a different country. So I’m teaching in a different country. I’m also doing remote accounting work which isn’t my calling but at least it mixes things up a bit?I'd be interested to hear if you are still teaching or if you escaped and if so what are you doing now?
A month is indeed long. Do you have any contact details from anyone else you could follow up with? Maybe someone is on sick leave and things just got stuck, it does happen. If you remember the name of an interviewer you could try finding them on LinkedIn. It sounds weird, but is definitely something that happens.I got offered a new job. Higher role what I want etc. Amazing. Manager etc all in constant contact, said for me to give notice (V long notice period due to role) so I did.
I emailed start of the week about that, silence. I know my character ref had a call to go through my credentials (she doesn't know alot about my current role but we were managers together in the past). Still absolute silence. My anxiety is rearing and saying they've realised I'm a pile of tit and just don't want to tell me but is this normal? Been over a month since job offer, I submit my paperwork the day of offer...
If I could afford a period of joblessness I'd be fine but I'm alone with 0 family to fall back on
I know one of the other managers well (who showed me the job, coached for interview etc) and even he isn't replying.A month is indeed long. In that case, yeah, I’d withdraw, two people not responding to you for such a long time is indeed not boding too well.I know one of the other managers well (who showed me the job, coached for interview etc) and even he isn't replying.
Think I'm gonna withdraw notice Monday as HR haven't actioned.
It's a job role that requires additional checks which I get (enhanced DBS, clarification of references etc) but it's absolute radio silenceIn that case, yeah, I’d withdraw, two people not responding to you for such a long time is indeed not boding too well.
Thankyou for replying! How is the teaching going in a different country? Is it any better? Also did you do an accounting qualification to be able to do accounts on the side? Sounds like you are well on your way to an escape planIt’s kind of a weird situation. I am, unfortunately, still teaching but I’m taking a year to teach in a different country. after this year is finished, I have to get out of teaching. Hopefully I’ll have a more exciting update in a year!
Can you contact their HR or try and call them? Is there a system you can log into to get updates? I had this in the civil service as the checks were taking ages and heard nothing for months it can be quite disconcerting. Don't give up though - have you got a formal offer letter or anything?I know one of the other managers well (who showed me the job, coached for interview etc) and even he isn't replying.

of course! Are you in teaching also and trying to get out?Thankyou for replying! How is the teaching going in a different country? Is it any better? Also did you do an accounting qualification to be able to do accounts on the side? Sounds like you are well on your way to an escape plan![]()
oh man totally agree here. I think it’s going to take 5-10 years to get the affected kids through the system. Hopefully the very young ones coming through now can go through without the effects of the pandemic and without being influenced by older naughty pupils. it’s not all the kids but a big chunk of them make it so tough! And the pandemic did something wild to students that I’m honestly not sure they’ll ever recover from in an educational setting
