Does anyone else dread going out?

Ah it's my tribe!!! I have two little ones and nah hate going out. I don't know any of the music, and I don't understand the fashion and sometimes my friendships feel a bit forced when out. They're lovely girls but I always get the feeling we would all rather be at home witching on WhatsApp bar one or two who always want a mad session! So we're all trying to have a "good time" 🤣

I think I was losing my mojo before covid anyway but now I just can't summon the effort. My nails are bitten, my hair is grown out, I have blackheads and as for hair removal that's a strong nope 🤣

Kids have no mercy when it comes to hangovers too, the few times I have had more than two glasses of wine I've spent the whole next day feeling like a zombie

Yup, I hate going out - unless it is with my husband. When I was in my late teen (going into my 20s) I went to a club where my friends abanded me completely, they just ran off and never told me, I was in an area I didn't know anything about and essentially was stuck and couldn't get home so I had to call my parents to pick me up at 2-3 am in the morning. That put me right off clubbing and fortunately not long after I met my husband who wasn't into the clubbing scene and prefer staying at home (playing video games).
The thing with going out is not only figuring out how to get home but also drinks are so expensive. I rather spend my money on a dress than booze.
My husband and I would go out early in the evening and be home before 10 pm - we're that boring.
I don't go to any Christmas parties or evening Do's - I prefer to just be at home where I feel safe.

Definitely!! I’ve always been a home bird even before my son… unless it’s with my boyfriend every now and again for a meal or something but I’d rather do that during the day than the evening. I much prefer being in at night with a takeaway or just some snacks.

I don't like going anywhere - even to the supermarket or hardware store feels like a challenge nowadays!

I could of wrote this myself! Going out out bores me to tears finding something to wear, waiting ages for a taxi home, doing rounds. I had a baby 2 years ago and id much rather be with him, or have a bath, Netflix and an early night.

Maybe it's different for men, but I'm 56 and still love a party and going out and travelling.

Not so keen anymore about drinking myself into oblivion, as got older, have realised you don't need to be drunk to have fun.

I'm with you here. I'm a proper homebird. Nothing I love more than being in my house all cosy with my husband and son, in a pair of pyjamas watching the tv... and unfortunately with some chocolate 🤪

Have become worse since covid though, had my first baby during lockdown so I spent majority of my pregnancy working from home, maternity leave at home and now I work from home! 🙃 Can't complain though because I love it.

I just don't like other people's idea of fun.
Hen parties are my worst nightmare. As soon as one is mentioned, I fall into a cold sweat. Immediately, it's money, outfits and having visions of Loudmouth Leanne getting her head kicked in (she's not that bad really, she's a primary school teacher 😜)

I'd much prefer to spend my money on a decent meal with a couple of glasses of good quality wine. It never ends up being that, it's always cheap food and cheap booze and to top that off, bleeping Foghorn Leghorn will boom that 'EVERYONE THROW IN £50'

Cue groans. 'But I've only had a water and an onion ring'
Whose idea was that?...oh should've guessed, Boozy Bianca and Greedy Gabby. 'Shes had a 3 course meal and 5 cocktails'

The bride doesn't need to pay...oh and neither does her 80 year old Nan (she's only here for the meal).

I'm not one to excessively doll myself up either. And EVERY time, I go searching for an outfit (which is usually the day before event) the shops decide to turn on me and sell utter tit. I'm left crying in the middle of the mall, 'even bleeping Build a Bear has an outfit'.
And New Look might as well be a haberdashery.

It's utter hell. I could just go to the pub with some close friends, but I can guarantee that will turn into a counselling session, telling Teary Tracey that she can leave her job.

No thank you.

I find that when I occasionally go out and meet with friends it ends up being a reminiscing session that ultimately ends up with "it was so much better in our day". God that makes me feel old, but anyway. In the late 90's and early to mid 2000s I was out a lot and pubs and clubs seemed to be a lot more busier, there was a really good dance music scene and it was the rise of the "super clubs" and Ibiza holidays and stuff. The focus seems to have shifted with the youth of today where they stay at home or a friends house drinking until about midnight when they decide to finally hit the town. It makes most City centres a bit of a ghost town till really late.

Also as people get older those nights out of the past where you used bump into random groups of people you know become few and far between. Still enjoy a rare outing out but it's just not as fun any more!

To be honest, I work in the NHS and working from home is not an option (work in the theatres) for me.

I can in all truth say I can think of nothing worse than working from home as don't think I'm disciplined enough to separate home from work at home.

I’ve never been interested in going Out Out. Don’t think I’ve even been to a proper nightclub! It’s just not my scene. Happier in a museum or art gallery. They have wine too. Often for free 😂

I was out every weekend in my early 20’s, I loved it. Even went out once whilst it was snowing, nothing would stop me going out on a Saturday night 😂

29 now, I have two children. I have no interest in going out these days, don’t even miss it.

Sometimes I dread it but my friends and I go out so rarely now its always really fun when we do so I do look forward to it.

My husband and I love to go out just the 2 of us, usually for food and then the bar after and then home quite late - tbh those are some of the best nights now.

Yep! I don't drink due to a couple of health issues I have, it's just easier not to. So for me going out is a chore. I dread it. There will always be one gob who tells me "lighten up and have a drink". Drunk people when you're sober are suuuuuuuuper annoying!

I generally am just a bit of a recluse though, I'd much sooner be at home chilling out in my own space, doing what I want, than out feeling awkward and not really enjoying myself. I lack self confidence a little bit so it's not just the process of going "out" that bothers me, I get anxious about the whole build up to it.

No you are not the only one. I dread going out mostly because the majority of people out there are plain idiots. Since the pandemic have have become worse about going out not because I’m afraid of catching covid and stay home bathing in dettol all day it’s just during lockdown I became comfortable at home and my surroundings and close ones I don’t want to lose that now. I don’t want to go back to normal as I liked that normal. Hard to explain it’s not social anxiety it’s just I simply don’t want to be there amongst it all.
I try to keep my young ones home with me also as much as possible. I don’t want them outside our comfort zone either stay home with mummy and the cats and our bird, fluff. All we need I reckon.

Also, does anyone else do that thing where you get your hopes up that the night out is coming to an end but then someone in the group suggests moving on to another venue 😩 😂

No I am exactly the same. I had my youngest at 16 and was on my own for years so I never got to really experience the party scene. I'm only 23 now but i'm a mum of (nearly) 3 and still have no desire to go out and get drunk etc, give me some good food in a restaurant and a few drinks and then I'll happily go home and be tucked up in bed by 10 :ROFLMAO: I'm such an old soul at heart

When I read the thread title I thought it was about people with agoraphobic tendencies
I don't dread going out out , I just think it seems like too much hassle, then there's all the consequences after like dealing with the kids the next day and lack of sleep etc. I don't go out anyway.

Since lockdown, I find going out during the day quite an upheaval. It takes ages to get the kids sorted and out the house. Especially in the car by the time they are strapped in .

If I'm not out with the kids , I'm out with the dog . I find that a chore most of the time tbh . I do have to keep a close eye on the dog's behaviour, especially if there are other dogs about. Occasionally, I find a dog walk enjoyable, which surprises me these days. We tend to walk local ( there are some nice places to walk) , I don't have time to go to a destination to walk.

I'm hardly ever out on my own . I find it overwhelming when I'm child free , I don't know what to do with myself and I think of too much to do in too little time .

I’m 26, 0 kids and I’ve never enjoyed going out 🤣!

I can probably count on one hand how many nights out I’ve had since I turned 18 and I’ve never had a girls holiday and I have no desire to.

i hate going out drinking, my feet hurt and I just want to go to bed!🤣
