Haven't seen them on there in a while though
What it a poster with flower in their name, maybe LostFlower? Really interesting character with some good debating skills.

I think most of the "Chatter" forum is devoted to mind-dumbing games like this one. And you do see people posting to every single thread every day, every week, every month.

And then they have the temerity to tell lesser mortals that because they have 300,000 posts it makes them some kind of Forum God, and that everyone should bow down, tug the forelock and be blessed breathing the same air as The Entitled One
I suppose it takes all sorts! And I haven’t been through the whole thread so I don’t know if there’s any chat in between but I scrolled through the first and last pages and it’s just those posts. Is it boredom? Loneliness? It can’t be loneliness, it’s on a whole forum with loads of other people to actually have conversations with if they were lonely. Easy way to drive up post count? Sense of achievement? I just don’t get it 😬

What. Is. The. POINT?

There is no point.

I guess it is populated by people with lots of spare time and no-one to talk to.

If I was that bored and lonely, I'd do a jigsaw or read a book or find something compelling to watch on Netflix.

Then again, I guess the posters on the CTAM thread feel that they are part of a community and interacting with others, no matter what. In these unprecedented times, loneliness is more apparent than ever before.

I would certainly agree with that. Perhaps such threads do offer some comfort and social belonging to those who are finding it difficult to cope, especially given the current climate.

That said, when I was a member over there I did see some Drama Queens with 200k+ posts/likes, belittling noobies and anyone with less than 50k posts!

Funny old world

I guess so. I wasn’t trying to belittle anyone battling loneliness either, it’s just I don’t get it when they are on a forum with loads of threads, even ones similar to ones on here like “what are you up to today?” and “how are you feeling today?” where people chat and chat all day long and it becomes like a familiar family and I think some of them make plans to have a group meet or Skype/zoom and talk that way off site. In comparison the count threads seem like a waste of time, but it’s not my time and if it makes them happy then it’s fine really :)

I wonder if the thread count posters and also the people who post on the 'what are you eating/drinking right now' and the games threads, like to feel part of a community, but don't actually want any kind of one on one interaction?

I'm not sure I'd be up for a zoom call with forum friends, it's bad enough talking to my kids and parents on zoom - I spend all the time looking at my face with some kind of horrified fascination :D :D Do I really look like that? I guess so, because none of my family recoil in horror when I appear on the screen ;)

I just popped into the DS showbiz and there is not a lot going on there, however I found out my Mate "Lucy Van Pelt" is still posting, I wish I could contact her and get her over here. We were great on the Katie Price threads while they lasted, quite a double act we turned out to be.

I’ve seen quite a few new posters which might suggest they’ve relaxed on who can sign up lately, you could try registering under a new email address, make the necessary number of posts/stay there long enough to get the ability to PM and then contact that way?

The showbiz gossip forum used to be absolutely brilliant. We had some great discussions over there. I can remember us talking about Jimmy Savile being a pedalo on the blind gossip thread years before he died and the truth came out, though our nickname for him ‘Mr Fix It‘ was hardly subtle yet we seemed to get away with it 😂 there were a lot of posters who were in the know about his true character. A few them lived in and around Leeds where Savile himself lived.

I did try a while back but I was denied access, I even set it up on my phone instead of a computer.

I actually met Mr Fix It as a student nurse at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, when I was doing a spinal injuries placement. This was back when JS was an NHS hero, running marathons and raising millions for hospitals up and down the country. He was charming to us student nurses, telling us all about his good works for the Spinal Unit, but when he left, he picked up my hand and french-kissed my palm whilst winking at me. I was - still am - traumatised.

I have subsequently found out I am not alone in my trauma, tonguing young women's hands, especially in public, was a speciality of his. 🤢🤢🤢

Bleaugh. Dirty fucker. When I complained to my nursing officer, I got told 'sshh, don't make a fuss, he's a bit of a perv, we all know that, but he's such a GOOD man!'

What. Is. The. POINT?

It was absolutely hilarious a few years back when a million was close to being reached and people who'd never posted in the thread before "hijacked" it. The gatekeeping and tanturms from the regulars was amazing.

Whenver I worry my life isn't all that, I think of that moment. Makes me feel better. :p

Does anyone know what happened to the poster KeyserSoze? He was banned from DS, then DTV, then Sleeping Dogs. He always sounded a bit vulnerable, and I felt a bit sorry for him.

Me too. Various mobiles, different networks, even used different WiFi as well. Different email addresses the lot. Would they let me register? Would they duck! They must have MI5 scrutinise every application lol
