Totally agree with this. Having an in between view often gets you attacked by both sides. Happened to me on several threads. Most recently the Harry and Megan Oprah interview. I have worked in Corporate Communications/PR for years and therefore have frequently interacted with journalists and broadcasters. So, without being boastful, I do think I know a bit about how the media works. With that in mind I posted that I didn’t think H&M going to war with the media and giving interviews about family rifts was a good idea. Because the media never forgets anyone who has crossed them and they will wait in the long grass for every opportunity to hit back. And airing your family problems via the media just widens the familial rift and gives the media more ammunition. But I got told I was advising that they submitted to bullies and was saying they had no right to defend themselves. That was not what I was saying. I was saying you have to recognise how the media works and find better and more subtle ways of getting your story across. In other words you have to find a way of dealing with the world as it is not how you think it should be. But I gave up because everybody knew better than me.
If anything encapsulates the difference between DS and tattle it's H&M rave thread on here is tiny, the rage thread is on its 81st incarnation

Can someone explain what is happening with DS. Is it closing altogether? I’m kind of worried that the oddballs will find their way here. This is a forum where people’s accept each other difference of opinion without conflict. Id hate this place to go the same way.

Right now they’ve just closed the Politics, Showbiz and General Discussion boards. Don't know if more will follow. I would not be surprised if the whole thing shut down.

Just looked at the Dogs forum about flag sha*ging…. And I’ve come to the conclusion that everyone on there apart from LordRaven is a complete and utter loon.

I have never seen such a bunch of narcissistic egotistical mods in my life!
The mod Stooo on Dogs is an arch Europhile. Hence the thread. I don’t always agree with him but he’s basically a decent guy, and he can tolerate disagreement.

I don’t think he quite gets the irony of starting a flag shagging thread when his avatar is the EU flag though. I guess some flags are more shaggable than others?

Interesting rumour doing the rounds. Hearst has been listed in the legal case a group of Whistleblowers are bringing against Jeremy Corbyn and the Labour party. If so this could relate entirely to the big EHRC thread in politics where people like Andykn, Sangreal, Brian_Grahams, Hisdogspot etc spent a lot of time posting all kinds of libel material in regards to said whistleblowers.

Corbyn supporters killed DS as we know it.

If that is true, absolutely no surprises at all. Although don't you know? It was the 'far right' that killed off DS politics. 😏

Those other forums that many on DS have flocked to, should be exceptionally warey of automatically welcoming all and sundry.

Especially those that directly contributed towards the demise of GD and Politics on DS.

Otherwise they could eventually find their forums going the same way.

Hearst have no one but themselves to blame. Lacklustre moderation that largely ignored such comments being posted, and ignored complaints from others trying to highlight the growing problems.

Politics was active but in a horrible way as has been mentioned during this thread. I didn't read a lot of the Showbiz bit although that was the first bit I found. Was it maybe to do with the alleged rumours thread? I know it was really clear it was alleged but with people guessing whom they may refer to, even in coded ways I was too thick to understand, maybe someone got a bit nervy?
I used to post in the Rumours thread it was pretty tame, just stuff taken from Crazy Days & Nights and people trying to guess the blinds.

The stuff that got Showbiz closed were the other threads, Mods were forever having to delete pages out of the Katy Price thread and just delete other threads about celebrities because of the vitriol

I have been reading this thread for a few days and its such an eye opener!

I posted a small amount in the Classic Corrie, Classic Eastenders and Big Brother threads..I had no idea what when on elsewhere on the forum! I always felt people were a bit dismissive and I do recognize some of the names mentioned but the only one I found annoying was lee90 or whatever his name was...

Hearst should just give the details of the posters, the IP address (this lie that influencers spread explained here) , email etc to the police and say these are the idiots who said liable things we have closed it down go and visit them and ask them why they posted what they did.

Was the blinds thread? I used to love reading that thread. Never contributed because I could never guess any

I used to like that thread and the famous people you've met threads. They were all pretty harmless.

I like the secret celebrity gossip thread here too. I love a bit of salacious celeb goss.

The politics of this channel have been discussed from the very start of this thread. So far it has survived six months and 23 pages without any threat of it being closed.

And your concern for the discussion of the politics of this channel, and the potential for this thread being closed, is such that you have not actually appeared on this thread until yesterday.

So, if anyone is looking to get this thread closed, it is you.

And to ensure that your attempts to get this thread closed, and distracting from the original topic, are unsuccessful, this will be my one, and only, interaction with you, here. I would suggest others do likewise.
Pedrok you make big statements from other FMs comments then demand no reply, nothing has ever changed there. As per usual you assume you are always right and everyone else is always wrong.

I'm more than happy for the mods to intervene and clarify the situation regarding the discussion of politics on DS threads.

Clearly some haven't acknowledged their past actions contributed towards the demise of large chunks of DS. Now they arrogantly assume they can carry on as before, elsewhere on DS, under the cloak of other thread titles.

I know I'm stating the obvious but one of the things I really dislike about some DS Forum threads (R.I.P.) is that there are definite 'in' groups and heaven forbid if you say anything that even slightly challenges the prevailing narrative. I'm someone who thinks in 'grey' and can often see different sides of an issue, which can make me seem a bit flaky or indecisive. That's the downside but at least, after 16 years there, I have the cajones to admit if I'm shown to be wrong or unreasonable about something. Some FMs over there would only apologize or 'own' their mistakes under pain of death. FFS, it's a written exchange with relative strangers. Is your precious ego going to totally collapse if you- gasp- admit you're wrong about something or someone? I'll hold my own if I can back up what I'm saying but know when to walk away and chill when on a hiding to nothing rather than doggedly clinging to the last melting icicle.

Seems more even-paced here but, as a newbie, just feeling my way around atm, having lurked for many months.
Try being a CT on DS. Talk about trigger everyone at the same time. 😱

If this is true then my best guest would be GD not to make a return for a few months. Then maybe in a year or so I think when the dust settles they might be able to reopen it with better moderation. I think the reason is they want to change their site completely for the time being

Are we sure it's not Sierra? It sounds suspicious to me lol
Tick the following:
1) Arrogant
2) Always Right
3) Has produced a chart or graph
4) Declared themselves female when already posted they are a gay male.

I think any trouble makers tend to come straight for this thread and have no interest in the wider forum. I've not seen any spill out so far.

AV seemed to be the go-to for most of the refugees. However a lot are still on DS itself - quite a few threads were created last night in advice moaning about this and that.
