You only get shouted down if you're a Leave voter and anti-mask, vaccine, social distancing, don't believe what SAGE, Parliament and the media're saying (and get branded as selfish and a conspiracy theorist) and pro-choice.

Prefer to judge a person on their own merits

DS Politics forum is finally no more. Having been shut down a few minutes ago.

HOORAY!

It won't be missed.

I can now foresee the faux (and untrue) tears by some, of the 'far right' has succeeded in closing down one of their most prolific outlets for abuse.

They won't U turn, especially on the politics side.

Anyone who thinks they will, are just kidding themselves.

There is more chance of the entire forums going, than the return of politics.

I think the entire site set up - forums and main site - are on the way out.

I haven’t been over there to look. I’m thinking it may all be on the way out as I don’t think the main site is that successful. Seems to have been eclipsed by newer sites and this is a last ditch effort at revival.

Even having reasonable questions over data, the pcr test reliability and other things would have some forum members getting all worked up, and i expect have them hitting the report button . Any link that wasn't the government, the BBC or from the W.h.o would be looked over with suspicion, regardless if they were Oxford or Harvard epidemiologists or the late Kary Mullis himself (the inventor of the pcr test)

I'm going to stick around there as I still post in Movies and some of the TV forums. It's funny how you never see some posters out of their own forum so I guess they'll continue posting as if nothing untoward has happened

I enjoyed DS, but my politics are my own and at my age 76+, I have lived through much.

They did a job that was long overdue, they shut down the nasty morons who'd taken over the site, a great move for DS losing that vile pack but not good news for the sites that they are now invading such as AV and to a lesser degree here...we bite back here and the mods here ain't a bunch of woke clones who will allow the rot to spread here like it did on DS.

Those that have gone to AV Forums for 'business as usual', will find they won't last very long there.

AV Forums may well end up 'doing a DS' and close down the politics section, if it becomes too much of a handful to manage.
