I use to enjoy reading the classic soaps threads on DS, but, he turned up and completely changed the tone. Boring too! Straker and PhilfromKent pretty much took over classic EE and I couldn't be arsed reading it in the end.

Politics is what destroyed the LBC Chit Chat thread. Some political chat was inevitable because of the way the station is but it all went south quite quickly and there would be pages and pages of political stuff.There still is. I'm sure some of the political animals will migrate into there.If Hearst have any sense whatsoever they'll stay well clear of another Politics thread.
GD may well see more topics added. However, I suspect they will be targeted threads to avoid a mass return to political discussion.
My advice is: If you see anyone turning one of the still existing threads into a quasi politics thread (e.g LBC chat, Jeremy Vine on Five), then report them for doing so.
