Apparently there's debate on the politics forum, who knew. I must gave missed any debates, all I've ever seen is any debate shut down by throwing far right, Nazi, racist at anyone even remotely showing any support for any government policy. Even so much as stating you understand why people voted Brexit or for the Tories is enough to be branded far right.

First post here, although I signed up a few days ago. So hi one and all. I recognise quite a few from DS.
I think maybe, at last, complaints have reached people higher up in the Hearst group, and they've been made aware of what a cesspit the politics forum is. I suppose they are closing GD too because the cesspitees would move there if they didn't, like they've taken over the LBC thread.
Anyway, I'm glad I had already signed up here, but I think a lot more will be joining up now.

Very true. No way is she a newbie who only joined DS in June 2020. Far too forward with her comments. When I was a newbie I wouldn't say "Boo to a goose" Let alone have big rants.

I have just emailed the DS admin asking them to close my account. There's not much reason to go there after the latest announcement.
Yes I joined DS about 10/11 years ago , it took a few months to get going, and the best part of a year before I felt comfortable
The good thing about this forum is I already feel surrounded by good people, I didnt feel like I was treading on egg shells when I joined

Mods on forums throughout the land have started shaking and perspiring perfusely at the prospect of some of DS hardcore left wing loons finding their way here.
The closing of General and politics does prove that there is no inbetween now when it comes to forums no matter how hard you try the woke culture means you cannot give a balanced view that doesn't upset one or the other and just banning people who have a different view is no longer an option.

I had an altercation with Lucy on the DS Showbiz section earlier in the year and got permanently banned but only slagged her off in here and in Dogs but wasn't aware of the Tattle thread about her.
I hope people like her who hang around in showbiz don't come to this forum with their vileness.

We are making some changes to Digital Spy Forums. In the coming days we will begin rolling out updates that will bring the forums more in line with our editorial website and help refocus our discussion platform.
Starting this week, we will begin making changes to the forum index by updating, archiving and adding to our discussion boards.
We will be putting three of our existing forums into read-only mode. Showbiz, General Discussion and Politics will no longer be listed on the main forum index and will be moved to our new Forum Archive. Forums moved to the Forum Archive will no longer be active and will not be able to receive new threads or posts, but they will still be accessible to read and search.
A new Streaming forum will be added to our TV category. This will be the new home for discussion surrounding every show, movie and original available on all streaming platforms. We will also be creating a new Forum Announcements forum on the main index that will be a read-only forum for site updates, our Community Guidelines, our FAQ, a changelog and any other necessary information relating to DS Forums from Support.
You will also see quality-of-life improvements and updates in relation to forum names, descriptions and other areas of the forum as we continue to evaluate the community and refocus our platform.
