I have no idea if it was the real McCoy, but over on Sleeping Dogs a poster claiming to be patdfb has announced that she will no longer post on DS due to certain posters being untouchable.

Which caused my irony meter to explode in a shower of glass and red mercury.

Really, thats hilarious, that one has their finger over the report button constantly, maybe they are actually beginning to realise that it's just a few people constantly reporting anything. I've had 2 groupings of mods emails so it was easy for me to pinpoint who was reporting me. I decided to block them so I didn't get sucked in and I never interact with that poster.

I don't know this poster, but I agree with certain posters being untouchable. It seems to be widespread on DS now, not just contained to a few threads. Again this makes me think that many mods are also active DS FMs who protect their own and ban those who dare to question them and are not part of their inner circle.

I don't believe some posters are also mods but I do think that some posters flag things up just for the sake of it. I had to laugh when I was posting on the TV forum thread about Wolf Hall and mentioned that Anne Boleyn was eventually beheaded. The post was removed and I got a warning from the mods about posting spoilers!!

Well the cause of the amusement is that patdfb is a trans woman who many would consider one of the untouchables herself. Certainly if you use the discussion started metric as an indication she is one of the most prolific alerters on DS. And every thread she frequents does tend to leave a trail of banned users in her wake.

It’s not lost on me that they are now starting to eat their own. Maybe DS should rebrand as Cannibal Island?

go on any of the trans threads and you'll see said poster. I might actually go on there to see the comments after that posters comment just for the lols, might even get myself banned

That's the kind of stuff that has made DS a laughing stock.

The problem is that the warning system is cumulative. So you get a warning for something pathetic like that and if something similar happens, next thing you're on a 24hrs ban, then a 72hrs ban and so on. They don't take incidents on a post by post basis which then makes it very easy for a poster to be banned.

Times have changed and people's feelings are more important than facts on a public discussion forum.

They probably encourage serial alerting now so that the sensitive ones can be free to post on their online safe space

I used to love Digital Spy. Long time ago mind you, when it was the time of Jodie mush. Only ever posted in showbiz and lurked in some of the reality tv ones. Couldnt be arsed with the cliques in chatter and general.

patdfb has an alert count of 500+ over roughly four years. That's equivalent to two posts alerted per week (give or take). I can't imagine being offended that much. I could probably count on one hand the number of times I have reported someone in the 13 years I've been posting on DS.

Admiring the outside of houses via Google Maps

Do you ever do this when there is a particularly nice house nearby you might fantazise living in? I must admit, I've done it quite a few times, as I know it's bad form to stand outside a house anywhere in person and stare at it. Depending on the road I look at on Google Maps, there may be multiple houses that I admire the look of and think "Imagine if I lived there".

Wow, the cancel culture brigade have really upped the anti on the D.S. Steve Allen thread. Just catching up the posts tonight and it looks like the infiltration is complete. Another thread they don't like subverted. They'll be pulling ranks with establishment bodies high up next to have him removed using the current climate of pseudo hate speech and the right not to be offended. I suspect his days may really be numbered now.

I saw that. It's pathetic. They've got tired of trying to get Nick Ferrari sacked so now they've turned to Steve Allen.

It used to be an appreciation thread until one of the chosen ones decided otherwise. Just the same people trying to enforce their opinions on everybody else as per.

On the sleeping dogs thread someone has claimed Tracey Ann Oberman and Rachel Riley have reported Digital Spy to the ECHR and on the Steve Allen thread there are claims they have sent a report of Steve Allen to Ofcom.

Let's see if anything comes of any of these.
