I can see why people were sceptical about goonst. Her posts read like they were written by someone much older than she said she was and she seemed to have an awful lot of life experience for someone that age. I think the explanation given was that she used to share her account with her mother?

No, her mum had her own account. Goonst was real and she was a highly intelligent young lady, Not saying she didn't set out to shock but most of her stories were real. I remember when people said Catholics schools were no longer as she described hers. But hers was an awful school and she wasn't lying.
Fair enough. I'll take your word for it. I'm just saying that I can understand how her posts raised an eyebrow, even if she was real. I don't think she deserved any aggro she got though.
She was very precocious and wasn't above shocking people. I met her many times, she and her mum stayed with me a few times and I used to stay with her mum when I was in Scotland visiting my son. I'm still very good friends with her mum.
That thread about the retired policeman who died by suicide via setting fire to himself in his car, one of the most horrendous ways to go I can imagine, on DS has absolutely horrified and chilled me to the core.
One of the more upsetting stories about someone falling victim to mental health issues and what do the oh so "woke" crew on DS do? Nothing but mock and sneer. I could not believe what I was reading. What's wrong with society when this is a dominant emotional response to such an upsetting story? Only one user that I could see tried calling people out on it but she/he/they were completely ignored last time I checked. No input from the moderators either on whether such replies to a story like this might just not be appropriate.
I've had to avoid the general discussion while that thread is active as if I click on it again I'll probably cry. I still can't believe it.

I had been reading that thread last year, as it's good to read from lots of sources to see how people are viewing a big subject. I had to stop reading the DS thread as it was both depressing me and freaking me out that people could be so stupid and naive. The amount of people on DS who are gleeful about causing doom and gloom is too damn high!!!
The shopping thread they had about covid was infuriating too. All chiming in on how awful the panic buyers were, yet all of them were stocking up on extra things they didn't need 'just in case', they were booking up delivery slots and cuing each other on to when the slots became available, and some on them seemed to be trekking out to shops every day to report back on queues and stock levels. It proper wound me up, that these judgemental sods, were the bleeping problem!!!
I believe somewhere in that thread in the past Sierra has stated he is some kind of legal expert or lawyer.

i thought i would join so i can agree with everyone about DS, the forum is appalling, the FM's bully people on certain threads and the mods do nothing, well i will never return, ive asked the mods to deactivate my account
I have a list of FM's i think are a huge problem on DS
WHEDONIT being the number 1 worst FM i have ever had the displeasure of seeing on a forum
However there were one or two names have appeared on the Classic corrie thread, one turned up in March or April last year and completely went to town with disgusting posts, baiting etc... at least 4 members were banned for 1 or 2 weeks with one banned permanently, the people banned were baited and manipulated by mods into receiving the bans, it was the most appalling abuse of power i have seen in the 10 years i was a member
Last month a new FM popped up on the classic corrie thread and did exactly the same, was abusive, baited people which lead to one FM to be banned who i think is a very nice person, the mods had no right to do this especially when the person in the wrong was back within a few days
I have strong suspicions one of them had to be a mod, it was too convenient that they could break every rule going , get people banned for nothing and still not be banned.
You only have to read the trustpilot reviews on DS forums to know there are hundreds more people the mods have treated appallingly
Ds has always been an odd place, but mods were always decent enough to hear you out and not ban you, and some of the threads were very friendly and entertaining, something changed within the last 2 years though i'm pretty sure the whole mods were replaced and "wokism" became their new thing , sadly now the likes of WHEDONIT can use any abuse she wants, but only has to twist one word of someones post and she is off to the mods, they are so scared of wokism that they comply, ive had enough of people like WHEDONIT manipulating real world problems such as racism etc.. for her own gain.
I dont really care what she posts it doesnt interest me but she is the vilest FM on DS (although you have mentioned others on my list on this thread )

I don't usually either but some people are very different. Some put all their details out there. Full name, personal picture, location and a personal bio. Other, like me, keep it very vague. Believe it or not, I am not a witch called Fenella
Some people do it because they either want to be found or don't care. It would be a massive coincidence if they both had the exact username.
There's a poster in the LBC thread who often posts links to things she's tweeted and that has all her details on. She will also post if she's phoned into the station.

That covid thread is a cult , i'm sure they have driven themselves mad , for 1 year they have copy and pasted the same information day in day out , if you disagree though and there are five who gang up , thats when the unpleasantness start

i will try and get these mods into trouble some how , ive contacted the top boss at Hearst and digital spy themselves, probably lead to nothing but i have nothing else to do on lockdown
