Reminds me when I posted about a TV programme on Facebook. A now ex friend told me she had no idea who I'm talking about and how they don't own a TV

Gortonian was a popular poster on the tv and radio threads and often quite knowledgeable. After a short absence and one not long enough to be anything out of the ordinary, his sister came on to inform us that he had passed away suddenly. He was in his early sixties. This was about six years ago.

Thank you so much! ❤

Yep, there was a small group on there that seemed to hate me because I am an Asian person who wasn’t a destitute, poverty stricken loser with no prospects (like them) begging for white “liberal”, “progressive” saviors to rescue me from daily persecution in the “racist” UK and US 😂

They reported MY posts for being RACIST 🙄 so I got a couple of temp bans and it was obvious I was gonna get a perma ban soon after (which I did, cos I made a couple of posts calling out one or two posters racist comments, plus I told the Tanya person some home truths).

It was really nice that in the run up to my ban I got several pm’s from forum members who were so supportive of me and really sick of how bad things there had become. Sad that a small minority of kooks

I enjoyed my time on AVF but sadly I started seeing similar patronising type of posts, supported by the site owner too, so I took that as my time to leave there.
I went down on the same post as you I think. Sonething.to do with a sign if I recall. Tanya got us both banned.

I used to be a regular on DS, a long time ago now. I remember 5371Robert or whatever he was called, the prototype incel who was insanely jealous of his sister and couldn't get a girlfriend. At about the same time, there was LostPigeon, who posted strange videos of himself on holiday and said "coo" in his posts a lot. I think he had at least one other account, as he'd occasionally post a link to the Daily Mail with no "coo", and using normal English.

We also had Dream Stuffing, who had a weird sexual fetish about schoolboys and boys in sportswear, who used to get in arguments with ForestChav, another poster who was a bit too interested in teenage boys. Dream Stuffing was all over every discussion forum going at one point, until he suddently disappeared. I think he got put in jail. I'm sure I remember him admitting he was on probation, or had some sort of community order stopping him from going near schools.

A woman from the Soap forums also passed away a couple of years ago. I can't remember her username on DS but her username was Blades' Receptionist on the Walford Web forum.

There was a poster who was brilliant with plumbing queries, can't remember his username, but it was rumoured that he died as he was the pilot on the plane with Emiliano Sala.

There was also Mactowin, a raging incel who was convinced all women hated each other. Especially ‘old hags‘ who hated younger prettier women and always voted to evict them from Big Brother and never voted for them to win anything, all his posts were oozing with misogyny. He was last seen on the Strictly forum ranting that Abbey Clancy would never win because she was young and beautiful and all the old hags would never vote for her, then she won and he was never seen again.

There were a couple of yanks on there.

Sweetheart Holly was one. Use to always go on about some American boy band.

Wasn’t so sweet though if you criticised any aspect of Christianity. She would get very snotty with you.
No idea if she’s still around.
She’s definitely still around. She frequents the Music forum and signs off every single one of her posts with: “God bless you and them* always!!!” (Sometimes she replaces the word them with the name of a particular artist if she is talking about someone or a group specifically in that post)

The AV Forum is one of the nastiest out there at this point. I'd say it has far surpassed Digital Spy on that front.

I've never bothered posting, I think of myself at left of centre on most issues bar a few specific things I'm an very disagreeable about but I know there's no point trying to join in with a forum like that. They've got enough regulars with a narrative that must be stuck to that is a total waste of time if you aren't one of the clique or don't just parrot the exact same stuff as they do.

A shame as forums are dying and it would be a nice place to post with the well organised different sections of the board but it's basically a gated community thanks to terrible mods/admin.

Does anyone remember Robinsbatman( or something like that that?)
They used to post very detailed, thoughtful replies.
Those M M threads were a wild ride, Deep Purple the policeman? Another poster who was an expert of the phases of the moon and could work out how much light there would be!

Looks like Stuart has now lost the plot and has removed a few of the replies to the thread that he started (including the three I posted above) and another brief discussion after someone talked about trying to put him on ignore! :ROFLMAO: He has now decided to lock his own thread. The guy comes across as a total narcissist and clearly can't cope with any criticism.

Stuart Wright said : I’ve deleted the posts which complain about this thread being in GC as they are off topic. Which is most of them, sadly.
And I deleted one reply which contained some links potentially worth exploring but then went and insulted another member.

Despite the title, this shouldn’t be a topic setting one party against another.
I don’t think Gary is anti-labour. I think he has used that video title (which I copied) to get more views. Views are needed if he’s going to get his message out.
I think having a title directly attacking labour might have not been the best strategy.
And using his strategy, I think whichever party had been in power right now, unless they were addressing the wealth inequality issue, their name would be in the title.

I don’t think his message is anti-labour. His message is aimed at labour because they are in power. Obviously.
(He said it was the Tories under Thatcher who cut taxes on the rich in the 80’s which started the decline in the first place.)

And I didn’t post his video to start a party based argument. I didn’t post the thread to criticise labour or any party in particular. Or start an off topic argument.
I posted this here because I think it’s an important message which rings true for me and which, if true, requires a change of policy for whichever party is in power. None of them except the greens supported taxing the rich in the last election.

The part of Gary’s message which most bothers me is that so many people, despite working hard and having a fantastic work ethic, are poor and could never afford to buy a house. I hope that’s a situation which everyone would want to change.

I think it’s best if the thread is locked so that some people who want to make this a party bashing thread don’t get themselves in to trouble and the moderators don’t have to deal with their shit.

In other words:

“I’m so annoyed my thread/lecture didn’t go the way I wanted it to, my feelings are hurt so I’ve thrown my toys outta the pram and I’ve locked the thread cos you lot won’t agree with me! 😭

Going through the DS memory banks, there was a member called ''PinkStar28'' who took the ditsy blonde stereotype and ran with it.

Such classic examples as -

where do all the witches go on halloween xxxxx — Digital Spy

have i bin reduced to bein moved on chatter???? — Digital Spy

This is gonna seem like a silly question but........ — Digital Spy

The best one for last - shud i dress like prim and proper or like a slapper??? — Digital Spy

Not to be confused with another user called ''PinkTeddy'' who rather infamously started a .GOV petition to get someone's DS ban lifted.

I
went on that forum recently because I wanted to find out something about an Eastenders episode and saw a mod has made a sticky post telling off members of the soaps forum for starting “soap wars” and threatening bans for those that display toxic and clique-like bullying behaviour 😂 (erm, doesn’t that apply to all their sub forums?)
and the resurrected Soap Awards that was also stuck to the top has now been removed. The closing date was 18th July so it must have all kicked off again. In its place, DS Mods have put up a poll about what to do about the soap awards going forward.

Oh dear

Some who passed on -

WonkyDonkey - Died from Cancer
Uncle Fester - Not confirmed, but he most likely passed due to him being in his 80s.
Cessna - Stopped posting in 2021. He was in his 90's I think, so it's most likely that he's passed.
Ebony Hamster - Died from blood clots.

Anyone seen the chose about the "DS Soap Awards". The wrong person started the thread, there was a war, and now they are both "hosting" together. What a total shit show. Who cares that much. I had to laugh at Mr.Pitkin telling them all to "GROW UP!!! NOW!!!!" on every second post and Tanya telling a story about the time she hosted an award ceremony and hooked up with whoever it was.
It was complete carnage. Dullire started the DS Soap Awards a few weeks earlier than it normally starts when the regular host, Rita’s Kabin, does it and so people kicked off as it looked deliberate so that he/she could get a head start. But then everyone took sides and DS had to close the thread in the end. That original thread whilst it was still open was a lot of fun as an onlooker

But as you say they’ve now called a truce and after ‘behind the scenes negotiations’, dullire & Rita’s Kabin are hosting it together. The soap awards part is fine but the forum part where they award forum members various awards is a load of backslapping nonsense where the in-crowd award other members of the in-crowd awards
