I'm surprised the Lee Andrews of DS (Tanya) hasn't announced that she will be going back to the BBC to be the next Director General - after all, she has already claimed that she has worked for them in the past.

It's weird how the mods let Broadcasting be the personal playground of a special few. I mean, it's a nice thread at least but wtf does the international space station have to do with broadcasting? Nothing, of course, but people cried about losing the astronomy thread when general discussion closed so...

Does anyone remember when DS was down for months whilst they redesigned it and it went from purple to grey, then they had a mod thread asking for user opinions on the new site and it was so overwhelmingly negative they were deleting replies, gave temporary bans and then restricted comments

Also the massive meltdown when they introduced reactions. People could not deal with getting a thumbs down reaction and there was a huge thread of posters crying about being bullied by the big blue thumbs, so in the end they got rid of all of the reactions except the ‘like’ one. Sad guys

They still have it on AV Forums but that moderator Steven wades in all the time with non-subtle threats if you use it. That guy is way over the top with his moderation, even if he is "senior" moderator.

Reminds me of the UK Rail forums. There is a long time moderator on there called 'Yorkie' who has the weirdest habit of messaging you to ask 'Why did you post that?' if your post was a bit off.

The one thing I will say in defence of disliking reactions is you got a load of bottom feeders "laughing" at really nasty things, like children dying in a house fire or stuff like that.

The reaction buttons were "abused" but even then the tantrums about the buttons even existing was mental.

And when you think of it Tattle is disparaged all the time, particularly on Mumsnet, yet here we are all rubbing along together with our laughing reactions!

Whereas DS and Mumsnet cant use them properly and have to have them taken away like little toddlers.

Ive never been pulled to pieces here unlike those Ive mentioned, so who is the vile site?

Some of them are just weird on there about being devotees of certain channels, be it BBC or anything else. She actually was nice if odd but remember the one who made being into CNBC her whole identity?

Because we can see who's reacted, I've seen people called out on inappropriate reactions. TBF I've not seen any real abusive of reactions.

When I first joined Tattle I was disappointed there was no direct messaging but I have come to realise it's a very good thing. I'm pretty sure there was a lot of collusion on some threads on DS via DM to target and bully certain posters.

I don't know many forums that actually allow Dislike reactions. I know one that has one labelled as "respectfully disagree" (although it comes up as a ) and I know another one which as about 15 different reactions, including such things as or , which obviously do get abused a bit.

Then again, people on Tattle occasionally use the react more as a comment on the poster than the post.

I don't notice most of the time unless someone laughs at something heartfelt/sensitive. Even then I'm mostly just ??? to myself unless I'm in a proper witchy mood.

Yeah sometimes I notice it but not enough to care. Some people are always gonna think I'm a wick who talks rit and that's fine.

I used to help moderate a forum where we had positive and negative rep. They removed neg rep to see what happens and it seemed to be nicer
