Guys I have finally found a pre-loved large YSL college bag in excellent condition that I could (just about) afford!! I can’t wait for it to arrive, I have wanted this bag for sooo many years and I’ve had such a crappy time lately that it feels like a true treat yourself moment 😁

Pulled out my old mulberry Alexa today. I really do not remember it being so heavy and cumbersome!! It has aged beatifully though, the leather is so soft.

I was at the Amina Muaddi sample sale yesterday, hosted by Showcase. It was okay, they had some nice shoes, but not much variety, and the discount wasn’t amazing.

didn’t stop me from buying a pair though 😂 they might not be everyone’s cup of tea but they’re gorgeous to me 🥰

Attached some pics of what they had.

Well. Tiffany ignored multiple emails from me asking when my broken bracelets would be returned. So...I found the ceo email and said I just want them back and nobody will reply etc.

Sorting the repairs for free due to volume of previous repairs required and being completely ignored by the UK CS Team 😎. Good old American CS (CEO/Executive Office is based in NYC)

I believe the factories in those TikTok’s are actually the ones that produce the fakes, inc. ‘super fakes’ or ‘1:1 fakes’ and they are thinly disguised ads to sell these fakes directly to customers. They are claiming that even Hermes bags are made in China. I don’t believe that for a minute.
I wasn’t aware of the market for super fakes until recently. I found a subreddit where people get really obsessive about it.

It’s called r/RepladiesDesigner if anyone’s interested (in snooping, not buying!). These women are spending serious money on designer super fakes with zero thought for the fact they could be inadvertently helping to fund drug cartels and organised crime groups.

Personally if I only had mid-market money for a bag (actually there’s no “if” about it in my case 😅) I’d rather buy from a mid-market brand than support the counterfeit industry.

I’ve been really happy with my purchases from Strathberry and Coach, and I have a bag winging its way to me from Songmont as we speak. It’s the Song bag, which to me looks like a cross between an Hermes Picotin and a Lindy, without being an overt copy of either IYSWIM.

As much as I’ve always wanted an LV I’m not sure I’ll ever save up for one. Just seems insane to spent £1.5k minimum for a bag. It’s just so much money.

My friend got me a vintage Gucci bag for Christmas. Beige coloured with a slide opener. I always feel my gifts are shiz in comparison 🤣. Also Loewe perfume set and Veuve Champagne from the same friend/her lot. Granted I have 8 of them to buy for vs the one me, but its still mad stuff 🤣. I am obviously extremely grateful though!
May such a friend find me in 2026 :m

I went a little OTT in recent years getting LV bags, mostly monogram and mostly old/used but now I feel like a have a bag to suit every occasion and every outfit so I’m taking a break from that.

My last two bags I bought in January, two used Alma bb’s in epi leather. One red and one light pink. Both superb condition. Epi leather is very durable.

I’m mostly getting secondhand bits of fashion jewelry, mostly Ferragamo. I would like some old Tiffany pieces. And I’m into blazers at the moment, I got a gorgeous white-ish/silvery/royal blue patterned Etro blazer, and bronze Armani (one of their old, cheaper spin off brands) blazer with black floral detail.

So basically, anything luxury/high end brand I’m getting secondhand (and the rest is Shein! 😂).

What do we all think about these Chinese TikTok’s ‘exposing’ the luxury market. Apparently the majority of the bag is made in China and finished off in Italy so it can be sold as ‘made in Italy’? And the prices are ridiculously inflated? I know they would be inflated some amount but not to this extent.

Nah, it’s a load of BS.

Of course some luxury brands manufacture in China. I’m sure some maypart-manufacture in Asia and then finish off in Europe to obtain the “made in France / Italy” stamp.

But in these TikTok videos, the bags being shown are fakes. People really want to believe that fake designer bags and real designer bags are the same product, made in the same factory, but that’s not the case and never has been *

As for mark ups, I don’t think I’ve ever been under the illusion that they weren’t massive. But it’s not just the cost of the materials + labour is it, you’re paying for the brand prestige, the marketing, the fancy stores, the creative team etc etc.

* About 20 years ago a friend of mine brought me back a fake Chloe Paddington from Asia saying “they’re all made in the same factory I’m sure” and let me tell you it was shite 😂

Sorry if this has already been asked before but I have decided to clear out all my tat in stages and replace it with nice once off pieces that I can build on. I would love to start with designer belts for jeans / trousers and would love if you could recommend some nice timeless belts that would look good. Any help would be appreciated as it is a minefield out there 🙈
I know this’ll go down like a sack of shit but designer belts are the anthesis of timeless/style/quality oftentimes, they’re often the lowest point of entry into a brand so super faddy, you can carbon date someone by which belt they’re wearing. I’d honestly go for a lovely leather belt made by a small / independent leather goods company over something with a logo belt buckle. Unless that’s what you’re after then go for it!

I’ve seen a few come up on Sign of the Times, second hand of course. I think they are pretty common on the resale market. I don’t think you can buy them new anymore. Have you checked their outlet store at Bicester?
Erm… a trip to Bicester is an acceptable half term activity with a 6yo, right? RIGHT?
