I find the fact that your word isn’t taken infuriating though, like a woman can’t consent to a medical procedure she has to have this test. It happened to me when I needed a test 5 weeks after having a baby and I told them in advance I wouldn’t be able to confirm LMP date as no cycle after baby but I was 100% certain not pregnant, was told that was ok. But on the day they wanted to send me away for me to get a beta HCG blood test to confirm and wait for results and come back again for test. Even tho I confirmed I was 100% certain not pregnant (no sexual activity since birth of newborn = definitely not pregnant). I hit the roof and I needed the procedure that day and it wasn’t as simple as come back again for other reasons I won’t go into. Eventually the let it go ahead but I felt so belittled and angry, especially angry because I flagged it well in advance and was told it wasn’t an issue.
I think it’s a legal thing. Hospitals have been done before for treating patients a certain way or doing surgeries on pregnant women without a test. Where I work I’ve seen women taking the hospitals to the cleaners when tit goes wrong (even a little bit) and often the women know that they are pregnant but don’t want to let on because they have been waiting for procedures a long time but of course they will let on the they hadn’t a clue. You would be very surprised at some things. In Denise’s case imagine she got Covid early on and was hospitalised and went into the hospital and said “I’m physically unable to get pregnant, I refuse a test” and then she is nearly 30 weeks pregnant. Like she wasn’t expecting her pregnancy! Looks like her doctor was in shock too. Unfortunately our word isn’t good enough in these cases!

Yeah, and I hope she doesn’t down play it afterwards and say it was grand like most do. I like people to be 100% honest.
Like she is still dolled up to the nines but you cannot hide her dark circles and the fact she is dying underneath that makeup! I hadn’t the energy to put on slap for about 6 months after the first and after my other two I never wore make up again only for going out on a night out.

I feel like she wanted to come on and chat for a bit longer than she did but she got breathless half way and had to give up. It was kind of abrupt and pointless. She was swallowing her breath a lot.

I followed Denise for a while but when Beth took over I just couldn't bear it anymore. Anyway the point is no one should be ashamed of getting covid. Let's be honest we all know people who have totally flouted the rules.... And now we are supposed to feel sorry for them??!! This wagon never limited her contacts and surprise surprise she caught this awful virus. But now she's trying to make it all about education... Gway and don't be annoying me. Here's a tip... DON'T BE ON TOP OF OTHER PEOPLE

It is not right but there are reasons why people would lie about having Covid or being a close contact. If you are an undocumented worker with someone or a family relying on you to go out and work so they can eat then you'll prob try and hide the fact that you're sick or should be at home and go and work. I've heard anecdotally that people have been turned down for life insurance for a mortgage because they have had Covid. It doesn't have to be about shame.

I had a quick look at her stories yesterday and thought she sounded very unwell, almost like she intended to have a chat but couldn’t keep going. I guess it could be new mum fatigue but thought she was quite breathless. If there’s no shame (which of course there isn’t) in having Covid then I’m surprised she’s not being a touch more honest about how she is feeling. I hope she feels better soon, it must be tough going to be sick with a newborn

What the hell does not all one sided mean? Seems like most medical professionals are very pro vaccine and those that aren't will be very anti vax. I doubt she'll find anyone on the fence. Plus it's cringe enough when she does the live q&a about ivf. I have major second hand mortification if she's setting herself up as a covid in pregnancy expert now too. Unless the q&a is just for new mums in general and unrelated to covid?

I have yet to meet a single healthcare professional who isn't pro vaccine. It's science like!

I would say if she’s looking the dr it’s the covid side of things but I can’t see anyone involving themselves in that when she’s used wording like “one sided”.

Me too.

Hate all them one sided doctors and nurses who have risked their lives for us all the last 16 months. So selfish of them to be one sided and cautious of covid 🤭

what is one sided?! The side of science?!
I’m in shock!!!

I wonder does she regret refusing the vaccination?! She’s trying to justify it all?!

I’m not sure there is another side. Anyone I’ve seen medically speaking who is anti
Vaccine tends to be a conspiracy theorist anyway which is a shame. I’ve yet to come across a medic who is anti covid vaccine but has a total normal approach otherwise.

But covid aside there needs to be a
Block on anyone spreading mis truths about medial info

Just to say I'm currently pregnant and any medical professional I have discussed the vaccine with has been EXTREMELY on the fence about it, very much "it's up to you" and as a result I am waiting until post birth. Not one doctor or nurse has said definitely get it. On another thread women have said the same and I just think it's such a worrying and stressful time for pregnant women trying to make the decision.

Yeah I'm the exact same. I couldn't get a yes or no out of my OB wether to get it or not. He told me some facts about the vaccine and the pros and cons and said I would have to decide which is riskier for me. He said that if my husband and I could isolate until the birth then he would tell me not to get it but that's just not an option for me. I did get the vaccine because after lots of research, it was the best option for me and my baby. I can totally understand another pregnant woman not getting it too though

To be fair no dr or nurse will ever tell you to get something. They will inform you of the pros and cons and you make the choice the same as any vaccine that is given in pregnancy like flu or whooping cough. There’s a great journo on Instagram byvickysmith and she has covered it lots with obstetricians.

I agree with you completely, there are pros and cons and you have to do your own research and make a decision then. Pregnancy tough enough with this for sure!!!
