Delphi murders

The jury has been sequestered for a month and probably want to go home. They deliberated for two hours today and asked to be excused early. My prediction is that they did a poll and had a discussion and everyone is on the same page and they’ve gone to sleep on it and I suspect they’ll be back early tomorrow with a not guilty verdict.
Agree 100%. Goodness knows how him and his family will be able live after this and I feel awful for the poor families of the girls.

I think it will be guilty, and hope justice is done for the girls.
Was there someone else dressed exactly same as him on the bridge at same time that committed the crime?
However, I don’t think the prosecution had much to go on so I could see reasonable doubt in the jury.
i think we will hear back today.
If it’s not guilty I don’t think we will see charges again on this case which is so sad for everyone involved.

I just don’t think the prosecution met the threshold for beyond reasonable doubt. I really do hope the girls families get a guilty verdict and some semblance of closure, but I’d be very surprised.

I think it could go either way.

Hopefully once it's done someone will collate everything together in a good podcast like they did with the Lucy Letby trial etc

For the posters on this thread, do you think he is guilty? (Not whether he will be found guilty, just whether he is)

I can’t make my mind up. Keep changing every time I read a different article.

I can’t make my mind up either. And everything I’ve heard from court reporting hasn’t sway my mind helped either way.

I do, but I can see why others don’t too.

I have been following the trial from the UK - listening to Andrea Burkhart summaries. I know very little history about the murders so am not overly knowledgeable about the nitty gritty of the case and any background I know some thing have been attributed to the Odin theory (not a lot about that either). I cannot see how the Jury can convict as there is no evidence from the scene that puts Richard Allen as the murderer. I feel that the confessions are due to his treatment in the prisons and are false. But hey what do I know really just an opinion that means nothing from someone who doesn't live in the USA and probably unaware of the legal nuances ( will say I know more about USA legal system than my own county's thanks to all the law tubers and the fact that there is live coverage of lots of trials).

Anyway I am interested to see the outcome of this and I feel so sorry for the families of the girls who have had to endure this what I would class as a tit show of an investigation and may always have questions whatever the verdict.

I think he’s guilty. He admits he was there on the trail and the bridge at the time of the crime. He never told his wife he was there. His explanation for being there “to look at the fish cos I like fishing” without any fishing gear is well, fishy. A man wearing the clothes he was wearing that looks like him was captured on video by one of the victims immediately prior to them being abducted at gunpoint. None of the witnesses describe seeing another man wearing those clothes and he himself admits he did not see another man dressed similarly. A bullet matching ones he had on his property and matching the imprints of his gun was found at the crime scene. He has a history of mental instability which worsened after the crimes, according to his wife. He knew the white van detail which had not been disclosed to him previously, as far as I have read. He confessed to the crimes, yes in times of obvious mental illness but also in times of mental stability. By all accounts I have read he looked at those crime scene photos of those lovely young girls with no emotion, yet cried at videos of himself in jail. Where’s the compassion for these murdered children? Wouldn’t you, if you’d been falsely accused of such a horrific crime against children, be up there on the stand, getting your family up there on the stand, loudly proclaiming your innocence? Wouldn’t you be just so utterly desperate to show that they’ve got the wrong guy? Obviously am not there but I don’t get the impression from the reporting I have read that the defense or family really believe it wasn’t him and are fighting to get him off. It was him and I hope they put him away for life.

I’ve never been so unsure on a case, but that said right now I would have to say not guilty, I just hope the jury are so so sure one way or another from having listened and witnessed everything. I have reasonable doubt from my little home in the uk 😅

I think lots of people have misinterpreted the clothing evidence. Allen said in interview he would have been 'probably wearing a blue or black jacket' not that he specifically was wearing the exact same outfit as BG. They found a blue Carhartt jacket at Allen's house in a raid, but the images that we have of BG are so blurred that you probably could never match the jacket to the image.

I think he could be guilty but I'd have to go not guilty because I have reasonable doubt.

I think he's guilty but could see how the jury could be hung. I don't see an acquital, if there is I'll be very surprised.

I think it honestly all depends on what news source you get information out of as to whether you think guilty or innocent. There's so much misinformation, and so little coming out of the court room.

I wish it could have been televised or transcripts released every day so we could all get the full picture and make our own conclusions.

Whatever happens, I hope the families find peace. They've had a horrific 7 years and I can't imagine how they're feeling today.

I think his biggest problem is he confessed. Even if under duress or mental stress. Without that the state really have nothing.

He didn't just say I killed them either. He had details and I don't see how he gets all that from discovery if he was struggling with psychosis. Can you realistically obtain all that information if you are sick enough to be eating your own faeces and then make false confessions that match the crime scene? I'm no psychologist so do not know.

The bullet is also a key point for me as he said he had never been at that crime scene with his gun. And him confessing to using the gun on the bridge. This was never put out there.

I don't know. It could go either way. 5 years is a long time to get rid of evidence

Maybe so but really, what are the chances of there also being another man there of the same body morphology as RA, wearing an outfit very similar to that described by RA as what he was wearing and similar to a jacket known to be owned by RA, at the exact time and location that RA professes to being there, which happens to be when the girls were murdered, in a town of less than 3000 people/1500 males/say 700ish max of the right age/demographic, on a regular Monday afternoon? That he himself did not see despite being there at the time? Possible maybe, but improbable, in my opinion. If he’s innocent it’s one hell of a coincidence.

Really thought the jury would have returned a verdict by now as they left early yesterday. Maybe they weren’t all on the same page yesterday after all 🤷🏻‍♀️

I am not convinced of his guilt beyond reasonable doubt but I think the jury will find him guilty.

I've never been on a jury but I can't imagine the pressure you would feel during deliberations. Particularly in a case that has been waiting 7 years for an outcome.
No wonder it is taking a long time.

It is absolutely right the jury take as long as they need to reach the verdict they feel is right. It might be frustrating but I'd rather them take 2 weeks to reach a verdict they believe to be right rather than 2 hours because they feel pressured to deliver a verdict they don't believe in.
