In the 2nd episode she went to Pattata 'The Sex capital of Asia' its referred to. It just looks really seedy and sleezy, but there was one phrase she used that I think is applicable to DJ "coming over here gives men a power that they don't have back home".
Back home hes petty much a nobody, theres people with far more money than him, but over there, he can live like a king and buy whatever 'services' he wants.
A bit sad really.

I think the upshot is Thailand hasn’t been great for Darren’s health or bank balance the way he thought it would, we have all seen it and this grandchild is way for him to save face and come home. It can’t be easy for him, not the type of place that suits introvert shy types.

I have always kind of felt sorry for him, he just seems so lost in this world. The grandchild is just a convenient excuse to come home, I called it from day one, I’m surprised he’s lasted this long but I did say he’d be back within six months, well I wasn’t far off it really, he didn’t even last the year! All that money to move over somewhere only to move back and start from scratch all over again? I don’t think Thailand is a good place to be in all honesty, it looks very sordid and poverty stricken to me and I don’t think it’s as amazing as Darren thought it would be. Living there and holidaying there are two totally different things, my in laws go every Christmas for two months and they have no culture, taste or class so it suits them down to the ground! Those are the types of people who thrive in Thailand.
