Did anyone watch the Gwen Shamblin Lara documentary, The Way Down. She set herself up as a church leader. Told people to lose weight for God. She had weird Marge Simpson hair. Talked one of her church members into whipping his kid with a glue stick, one child was suffocated in a trunk, when the parents followed her advice. They are in jail now. She married Tarzan Joe Lara. They made his ex girlfriends life hell as they tried to get custody of her child. Then they died in an air crash. She was a complete nightmare.
Her daughter looks (and sounds) almost as batshit as Gwen herself 🙄

Not exactly a cult but cult like - the program on Netflix. I binged it today, very interesting and awfully sad for all the children who now live with CPTSD from there time in it.

Also last Friday on C4 unreported world was on the Kenyan Pastor who convinced over 400 of his congregation to starve themselves to death the other month. Spoiler alert - he was still alive and they arrested him
I saw trailers for that and wanted to watch it but couldn't bear much more of this shit because of the ongoing news, so much violence and brutality everywhere. But hopefully at some stage I'll be mentally ready for it!

Yoga cults are massive. I listened to a bbc podcast about one. The girl ended up getting sex trafficked in Paris
I listened to that too. Frightening how easily people can be sucked in.

I spotted a documentary called ‘Breath of Fire’ about a Kundalini yoga cult (either Amazon prime or Disney+, I forget which). Haven’t watched it yet but looking forward to it.

Just watched the Twin Flames one on Netflix. All quite strange how they got so involved. I wonder if the people featured had a lot more going on in their lives before they joined which made them more susceptible to falling for it. It was all so shallow from the start it never seemed to explain how they got properly drawn in. Especially the with the twin Sister.

That was boring and virtually unwatchable.

Netflix = shite. The plastic surgeon one is a good example of where they could have focused on detailing and exposing the crimes the person committed, instead put all the focus on the fiance who was just there to "be seen" and turned it into some salacious cheating story, with the deaths of innocent people as an afterthought.

Thank you for the rec! Has anyone else had issues with playing it on Netflix? Other shows are working fine and I've reset it all etc. so bizarre!
