My problem is that I watch EVERYTHING, I have Netflix on my iPad and I watch it all the time when I'm doing jobs around the house e.g. laundry, making beds etc - to get me through the after work chores. But because i watch so much - i forget what I've watched. I'm 100% sure I've watched this but its already fallen out of my head.

I’ve commented on this before on here but I worked with Neil back when he was a Registrar and then onto being a Consultant.
He was a lovely man, kind, thoughtful and extremely supportive of his junior colleagues.
He was an excellent Surgeon and had an extremely good bedside manner. Patients always spoke very highly of him as he was just so kind and gentle.
When he first became ill with sepsis everyone was extremely worried for him and concerned for his family.
This whole thing came as such a shock to everyone and I still struggle with hearing all the facts of the case which seem to have no relation to the man I worked & on occasions socialised with. I would never have believed him to be dishonest or so deeply disturbed.
The whole situation is a tragedy. His life is in tatters, he has lost his family and his career ( he was struck off by the GMC some time ago). My thoughts particularly go to his wife who is a lovely person and his children who will have to grow up knowing what their father did.
I also questioned myself as I always believed myself to be a good judge of character but obviously I am not.
He really wasn’t a “weirdo “ but he is obviously deeply disturbed. As I said just a tragedy all around.

I've yet to watch this although I do think it's been touched upon here before.

What I will say to you is don't doubt yourself for trusting, liking the person you saw as that was the persona he wanted you to see. I'm certain had he shown you his true self you'd have run a mile & raised the alarm to alert anyone, everyone.

Another one I like is Accused: Innocent or Guilty? It’s American, and they show the person accused of the crime, the police investigation and the court proceedings, but some of the episodes really do have some surprises in there. It’s on channel 5 and prime.

Can't believe I forgot this one! Up there with Cold Justice and Ths First 48 for me (my two absolute favs)

Have watched every single episode and it's one of the very few true crime shows that my OH watches with me. Some of it is very badly acted (mainly the lawyers) but man, the way it twists like a twisty turny thing. I've screamed, shouted, ranted, laughed, cried and been left utterly bereft and bewildered by this one at times.

I challenge anyone who thinks the USA justice system is better than ours to watch seven seasons of this and then come back to me,

Just watched the Press & Journal 2021 doc about the case of Shaun Ritchie, who went missing on Halloween night from a remote farm up in Fraserburgh, Scotland, back in 2014.

Such a frustrating case. 8 other people there that night, 5 of which were his close friends, and no one has spoken up about what really happened. I could fully believe it was a simple case of an accident and he ended up in a bog, but it's the fact there's no sign of his body, no one raised the alarm for 2 days and not a single person has said anything publicly, let alone try and drum up support to find him. It really doesn't pass the smell test and I'm genuinely surprised someone hasn't cracked and said something by now.

Seeing his poor sister break down was heartbreaking, can only imagine how much the not knowing has prolonged the pain of losing Shaun. It's so needless, it makes it feel like something awful must have happened for everyone to close ranks and not try and find their mate and give the family some peace and closure.

I can't watch the C4 In Footsteps of Killers with Emilia Fox - I don't like how her and David Wilson interact with each other, don't know if it is their voices but I find them quite false.

I haven't watched it as I find him really annoying.

YouTube has been my recent go to for the bodycam videos, EWU Crime Storytime being one. Real police footage is crazy, the ways people will behave even in the face of evidence.

For deeper analysis I'm a huge fan of Chase Hughes, who gives insight into human behaviours from his skills and abilities. He has videos on how women can avoid narcissistic relationships, but he's not sensational about this, just real and without drama.

There's loads of tips on this thread for my catch ups on Netflix etc, love all sorts of crime stuff.

I did once meet Mick Philpott, unfortunately, in my time at the benefits office - he was bluster and sexist, I had to do hard focus professional with him, horrible man

I really hope he ends up in prison. He will just continue to abuse people. Poor Micah was just a kid when she met him. She never stood a chance.

This was SO evident when he had the audacity to call her divorce attorney and then so gave himself away by evidencing his claim that they had a ‘perfect marriage’ by saying that when she was well she never text another man unless he was also in the group chat. The level of control he thought was normal was unbelievable and the fact that he thought that her submission to this level of control was evidence of a perfect marriage was just mind-blowing.

JP Miller is an appalling excuse of a human being. There is lots of stuff he’s involved with that wasn’t covered in the documentary. I really hope he gets found guilty at court and has to face consequences for his actions as the slippery fucker has been getting away with his behaviour for too long.

Thanks for the Crime in Progress recommendation. Able to download it on Sky. The first episode was so sad and so intense.

I have had a really stressful couple of days. These episodes have been great for me as they are so intense I don't have time to think of any real life crap.
Up to episode 8, they keep getting madder.

Came here looking to see if anyone had watched it.
I knew the story as I remember following it in the press & watched the BBC show last year.
You're right that the focus is different. How did she manage to make that poor man's murder all about herself ? Even the title was all about her.
She was undoubtedly in a terrible situation but she seemed to thrill at being at the centre of it all. She clearly ended up with serious mental health issues, if she didn't have them to begin with. Really feel for her parents.

I went in cautiously and even then I switched it off after a couple of minutes, as I could see her gasping in the attention and her demeanour was off-putting. From what I recall of Vanishing Cyclist, she wasn't 100% cooperative of the investigation and was fucking around with the police at some point. I don't know if that made it into the Netflix one.

BBC one - morning live. They've just shown the story of a mum whose son was killed by one punch. She's met her son's killer. It's now being turned into a play

Didn't watch the programme but is the play called Punch? That's been out for a while. I used to get ads for it on my Instagram all the time.

On a side note, I'm always impressed by people who immerse themselves in the restorative justice process.

I've been meaning to mention this for ages but an old TV show (from 2012) called Fatal Encounters popped into my head a while ago. Some of the episodes really stayed with me. Anyway, I did a quick search and found there was actually a third season on Discovery+ that I've never seen. I'm still working though it, as I took a long break after watching this one:

Episode five - Deadly Delivery.

Honestly, forget the fucking Shawshank Redemption. This is the ultimate story of forgiveness, compassion and what can happen when you have the right team rooting for you.

I cried and cried and cried. Mr BMP had to have a word in the end! I still get emotional thinking about it now. But they are happy tears.

Because I always talk about hope where youth crime is concerned. There has to be hope that something positive can come out of a tragedy, especially involving kids. And this story has it in spades. Uplifting and inspirational. If you watch it, make sure you Google afterwards too.
