I buy what I can afford and that’s that, I don’t judge anyone for poundshop yarn, or whatever else they want to use!
I’ve only ever brought a small handful of hand dyed yarn, it’s just so expensive for me, normally get it as a treat for my birthday, or I’ll get one from my partner for Xmas, pretty much all of them are sat on my yarn shelf, fully untouched because I cannot figure out what to actually do with them
Has anyone ever bought a mystery bag of yarn/craft materials?

I get a bimonthly subscription box which has yarn and treats in it if that’s what you mean? It’s the only yarn I buy now, stopped buying but I enjoy the surprise of this one.

I have seen pictures of what people ended up with, a few people had really pretty yarn cakes ( expensive ones but with labels missing or in different languages), or lots of interesting colours and typres, and other people complaining because they got an entire bag of brown yarn.

I don't do any fibre craft but I would double check whether or not the people getting 'good' bags are being paid or sent the bags for advertising... there's been a few cases of influencers (even small ones with <1000 followers on a SM channel) getting sent better goods by a company.Thank you. Update on Mystery Box. I got the Knitting Network Mystery box. It promised 18 balls of yarn, valued at around £45.00
It cost £19.99.
I received
2 x balls of Angora yarn ( very soft, have not used before)
2x White Value yarn ( think something you would make basic baby stuff from)
4 x balls of Emu DK in green and blue. This is a new brand for me, I am happy to try and will easily find a use for it.
2 x a colour change Yarn from a brand called Sunflower. 50gs each. Not sure what to do, but it is pretty.
The rest are balls of colour changing cotton yarns. They aren't colours I would pick, but I haven't had much experience with cotton so I am happy to try it out and not worry about ruining the yarn.
I am satisfied with my box, as I have got a few yarn types I have not used before, so I have a small amount to try out without committing to spending a lot of money

Finally the bunting is out at Begotten Towers as I have finally finished the bloody scrapgan that was meant to just be a cushion and ended up being a blanket because the person it was for really REALLY liked it.

I am really impressed by their offers and speed of service. I also got some Cicibebe cakes on 5 for £10.00 that were a mix of yellow and white. It reminded me of lemontop ice cream
That is really good work. I love how you arranged the colours. I have never made anything that involves sewing little squares together as I would get sick before the end of the first row. but it was a NIGHTMARE - ( It’s a good job I love my friend )I didn’t actually sew the squares together, I always join them as I go along. I would have gone insane with that much sewing - the flipping flowers were bad enough.

I know how you feel. I'm currently in the process of putting borders on 120 granny squares. I have around 50 done. The one i started during lockdowns is still sat in my wardrobe. It shall remain there
i want to do blankets if i ever master crochet.. i'm fantastic at chains lol so did wonder ir i could just do a massive chain and then work into it side by side to make into a blanket that way hahahOh it’s beautiful

I think the 2 balls of Angora can make some sort of scarf. The 2 white yarns will become a baby blanket. Not sure on the others yet.Thank you

An avid knitter here. A neighbour taught me when I was a little girl. 50+ years later and I knit most nights watching TV. I am addicted to buying wool and I love nothing more than a roam around a wool shop, they are like a magnet to me

I have always wanted to crochet and have books and I know there is YouTube but I have never got round to it.
My latest hobby is diamond art painting and I am kind of addicted to that now. Been making birthday and Christmas cards, pictures etc and I find it so therapeutic.
I have a little business on eBay and sell buttons and some of my finished items, all as a hobby and I love it..... the hobby that is no eBay so much.
The Knitting Network is also my favourite place to buy wool and I dread their daily emails because they tempt me so much!!
