I've now gotten the hang of crochet and have finished a neck warmer and a headband, and I'm working on a blanket and a project bag.
I've started learning to knit. I can do an English knit cast on and a knit stitch but struggling with purling. I really want to make knit and crochet garments this year, will persevere.

To spur me back into cardmaking I bought a Hunky Dory Goodie Box. Oh it made me wish I bought 2 it was £30 plus P&P and is worth at least £80. Mines £88.89. I feel lucky as one of the topper sets is one I saw the other day & loved.
I got a couple of useful bits diamond sparkles, glue stick, paper pad, die, prism pens. Then 1 topper sheet, 1 decoupage sheet, 2 luxury toppers sets where you get the card aswell. pack of inserts & then a luxury cardmaking kit( in time to celebrate) so everything is very useful except i'm not sure about the inserts as I dont have the kit that matches. Though its called birdsong so looks like it'll go with most garden/floral/birds

Im really enjoying knitting at the moment but struggling to get patterns. Does anyone use Ravelry successfully? I find it a nightmare to navigate and actually find anything. Is it American? I follow some tiktokers who post links to patterns, but id be grateful if anyone else could recommend a good site for knitting patterns.
I use Ravelry, the advanced search feature is very good when you get your head around it. But I mostly use the same designers all the time.

I find Etsy quite good for knitting/crochet patterns.
I use Ravelry a lot - it's basically a big database of patterns/yarns/projects. Definitely use the "advanced" search feature, and on the left-hand side you can filter patters by price/yarn weight/colour/language etc etc. I don't really buy patterns from other places, but it's so handy to see other people's projects and colour ways, as well as any changes they made to the pattern when they made it.
OOh ooh teach me crochet.. I'm still stuck on where i last reported... the chain
A good tip I found was to use a bigger hook to make the chain, then when you're ready to start doing the crochet stitches, switch to the correct hook size for the project. Game changer.
I had to frog an entire crochet top the other day because it was too small. I can practically hear the sad violin music.
Started this yesterday, one of my friends in work is about to become a 1st time Nan. Hopefully it'll keep me from snacking 
West Yorkshire Spinners have a range of free downloadable knitting patterns. The Knitting Network have a range of paid for patterns from Stylecraft, King Cole, Sirdar etc, available as downloads or through the post. Hobbycraft and Love Crafts have a small range of patterns too.
I did a trawl of some charity shops ang got some knitting books for around £1 each, so that can be a nice cheap way to get some patterns.
I collect vintage patterns - crochet mostly - but there are way more knitting patterns in charity shops and I find vintage patterns are better written than modern.
Charity shops always have loads of knitting needles too, such a cheap way to get different sizes. I got 6 pairs for a pound the other week.
I have a shop on eBay where I sell buttons and patterns. Mine are all new patterns though so not cheap as they are not cheap to buy wholesale and taking into account eBay fees on top I literally make pennies. I like King Cole patterns best they have some lovely unusual designs.

I have accidentally made a blanket to big. Last year I bought 12 balls of Yarnsmiths DK Play Sail. It was on 4 for 10 quid. It is a colours changing yarn that goes through different blue and green shades.
I started using it about 3 weeks ago. Used half double crochet ( American), as wanted a simple and fast stitch as wanted something that worked up quick and showed off the colours.
Yesterday I had a crisis. I made it wide enough for a double bed, I am 4 balls in and just about to change to 5. I have realised the blanket will not be long enough and will look odd.
Luckily Wool Warehouse had some left in same dye lot, so i grabbed a few more.... but they are no longer on offer so had to pay full price for them.
I hope that I will learn from this....but I will not.
