All travel suspended to the UK and Ireland effective Monday, Vice President
Vice President Mike Pence has announced all travel to the UK and Ireland will be suspended from midnight Monday EST.

Ive seen so many posts in social media groups today from parents who are not going to be sending their children to school until after the easter holidays (somewhat optimistic of them)
How will this impact on the governments idea of herd immunity?
Is anyone here bucking government advice and taking your children out?
If my kids had underlying conditions I would keep them off

Apologies if this has already been said but where the hell is BoJo? IMO he should be giving a press update every day and keeping us informed as to what the strategy actually is. Trump was on last night and again today. Never thought I’d say something complimentary about Trump but at least he’s showing his face. I’m not aware of Boris being seen since Thurs?

I don’t know what to do I’ve just checked the amount of cases in Buckinghamshire where I live & it says there’s 7 cases, so a big part of me thinks I haven’t caught it but I’m developing a cough my breathing is heavier and I’m so so so SO tired, difficult to not think it’s only in my head because I’m so anxious about it
So the advice for you is to stay home and rest as you would do with normal flu and only contact 111 if you deteriorate or it doesn’t pass in a weeks time, right? Assuming you have no conditions that put you at further risk? So hard to keep on top of the ever changing policies!

And on that note, where are also the mayors of our cities? For example, I haven't seen Mr. Khan's face once on tv in recent weeks. The mayors of the US cities are on tv every single day, with their team, giving an update. Just like Trump, etc. Each day I notice stark differences between the way things are handled in the US and here in the UK.

Yes, our leader is not exactly leading or inspiring confidence in their Masterplan.

Conor McGregor has announced his aunty has passed away due to CV. Unfortunately I think it’s only when these big names (e.g Tom Hanks etc) get affected by it will people begin to take it more seriously..

As someone who is chronically ill I feel failed by our government. I understand the need for herd immunity but it’s going to be at the expense of people like myself and the elderly. I feel like we are not being protected. Feels like we are bait and being used to protect the whole country. I know it needs to be done in order for the virus not to inevitably come back even if we self isolated but it is at our expense.

We need healthy individuals to recognise that it is best to stay home as much as possible and limit socialising to help people like you! If the government aren’t going to close things, it doesn’t mean we still have to go them...pubs, restaurants, theatres, concerts, parks, all very avoidable (unless you work there obvs...)

Yes I used to work but can’t anymore as I’m housebound and disabled. I have two young children and if they bring this home from school with the illness I have I genuinely don’t know if I would survive it. The whole thing is quite honestly terrifying. I would feel better if the government were doing ONE thing! At least banning large gatherings, but honestly it feels like they want more people to get it, this is the bigger plan. Screw anyone like myself who it will kill

Never ever one to defend Khan because he's an absolute bellend but he was at a business conference I was in last week giving great advice to business owners, he's also been the one that's cancelled all St Paddy's day parades and celebrations in London.
So he may not be on TV talking tit but he is behind the scenes doing some stuff.

My husband dragged us out to town today and it was a little quiet but in all honesty the whole trip made me anxious and I’m not an anxious person.
In all honesty I think that all healthy people should really just social distance as much as possible. I mean, see your friends and what not but practise good hygiene but I feel like it should be a needs must basis.

thats me personally, anyway.

After reading the two critisms from WHO i'm now so angry and scared.
My dad is due a heart op at the end of the month which I assume will be cancelled. I feel like the goverment wants people like him to get it to cause less burden to the country. The risk he is taking seems so reckless, all aimed at keeping the economy going. Why won't he put us first? The devestation for all these families loosing loved ones is horrific. Seems the goverment doesn't see them as people, just another number.

I am chronically ill and on immunosuppressants. I rang the advice line for my condition and they have advised that although I’m not at a greater risk of catching the virus, my symptoms are likely to be worse.

Our government is letting us down. More should have been done in the initial phases. Flights from China should have been cancelled in the first instance. I think the virus has spread too far to save us from it at this point. It’s a real shame.

14 days is if you've been exposed to the virus or travelled from somewhere. 7 days is if you have even minor symptoms but haven't necessarily been exposed.
Oh, here it is 14 days regardless and they are testing everyone in our province that shows symptoms.

The pain thing is what is driving me crazy! I have to take paracetamol and ibuprofen throughout the day for my feet and there is none! :(
I managed to get some at lidl yesterday but they were at the till not where they usually are in the store, may be worth asking staff.

Got some calpol in Wilkinson’s, there was two bottles left so I took one. Also managed to get toilet roll from a corner shop, I live in a town centre and Asda, Wilko, b&m, coop, lidl all sold out of toilet roll.
