A woman I know needed to be admitted to ITU, she's in Exeter. The nearest ITU with any spaces was london!
2 floors of my local hospital are full of covid patients.

I don't read news articles. I chose to have both vaccines because I wanted to. If somebody doesn't thats up to them. I also refuse to feel sorry for anybody that ends up seriously ill in hospital with covid and refuse the vaccines because they'd rather believe a Facebook dr who has no GCSES and would rather spread crap.
Yes and I chose not to have the vaccines because I didn't want to.
Not because of Facebook which I wouldn't go on if you paid me. Some of us think for ourselves.
And I would always feel sorry for anyone seriously ill in hospital whatever the reason.
Are people trying to get us to believe that only unvaccinated people are seriously ill in hospital. What about double vaccinated people seriously ill in hospital... do they get your pity.
What a fucking world!!!

I’m honestly for it and I don’t think it’s that big of a deal. Most kids will still follow what their parents say, and the difference would probably be only seen in cases where the parents are anti-vaccine and the child feels that they know better or wants the vaccine for x or y reasons - which again, is probably fine assuming the risks are low and the child understands what they are. I really don’t think parents should be able to their kids just because they hold certain beliefs 🤷🏼‍♀️ If the kid chooses to agree with their parents/agrees with them then at least they have some sort of choice there

I recently found out that some of my extended relatives have refused to vaccinate their child (I think they’re a newborn or a toddler) at all. I honestly hope that their child is given the opportunity to get vaccines by an age where they understand their situation and may feel different to their parents without needing parental consent, hopefully before they’re 16 or 18. Obviously covid may not be as dangerous as other viruses but eh
I’m vaccinated, as is my OH but there is no way on earth our child will be getting vaccinated.

NZ are off the charts in how utterly ridiculous they are responding to this. Apparently people are not even allowed to order takeaways or any items off the Internet that the government deems non essential?! I thought Easter egg gate here was bad but Jesus Christ. If I were in NZ I’d be throwing myself off a bridge right now. What do these people have to live for?! We all know covid is never going to disappear.
my mum has a friend over there and if you're not wearing your mask correctly in a supermarket, or buy too much of something or something they don’t deem essential, staff member’s have been known to take photos on their mobiles and post them on Facebook/the store Twitter to publicly shame them, they’re also being asked “casually“ by staff if they’ve been vaccinated and what’s their views on vaccines and that’s being posted online if you’ve said no.

wtf is wrong with these people. That’s insane.

I don't get why no takeaways. It's been proven that you're v v v unlikely to pass covid via food/deliveries/post. Is it because they don't want unnecessary driving/car crashes?
It almost like NZ and Australia are acting like it’s March 2020 and we don’t know how the virus behaves, how it is transmitted etc. Very strange.

For the same reason pretty much every news article in the past 18 months has been used.

To induce fear.

This is for the people who have made a choice not to get vaccinated to try and scare them into getting it, it’s blatantly obvious.

Lockdowns aren’t the answer, the vaccine ‘isn’t working’… genuinely would like to know what we actually should do at this point? I’d carry on as normal, but then I’m told I’m selfish and people are still getting ill, then I’m cautious and told I’m a sheep and we have to live with it. What is the actual answer?!
My family and I are going on holiday abroad this weekend and some friends have been really funny with us about it, snide comments etc. We're both fully vaccinated, we have purchased the tests required when we are there, we are at a resort, have our masks, will test the kids before they go back to school etc.

I work in weddings and for the last month have watched hundreds of drunken people all hugging, dancing, kissing and have never judged them or been snidey about safety!

I don't think there is a right answer at the moment. It's really hard.

There is a minor thing called patient confidentiality so the Dr has to remain annonymous to protect that. Not sure what you think they are trying to gain by lying about the current situation.
God I wish tattle had an eye roll reaction 🙄

Patient confidentiality can remain if the Dr was named. Plenty of other Dr's have been interviewed and named while speaking about covid.
Plenty of Dr's and nurses have been filmed inside covid wards without ever breaking patient confidentiality

Don’t really understand why the age of patients is relevant when we’re talking about overwhelmed health systems though? Doesn’t matter if it’s old or young people taking up hospital beds that would normally be available to people with other conditions.

What I don’t understand is why the disruption to a child’s education is an argument for vaccinating them?

Vaccines don’t effectively reduce/stop transmission - so there isn’t a huge benefit to school population by vaccinating children. It won’t stop the spread.

How would vaccines prevent absences? If children test positive don’t they need to isolate? And I thought school bubbles were gone now (don’t have a school aged child so correct me if wrong) so minimal other children would need to isolate/have education disrupted in the event of a positive classmate.

We don’t vaccinate 12-15 year olds for flu ‘to prevent disruption to education’ so why is covid different?

What are the benefits to vaccinating an age group that rarely get seriously unwell from the disease when there is a risk of heart issues and serious complications?

Warning, very selfish post coming up.
As some of you may be aware my grandson who has learning disabilities lost his job at the airport at the beginning of COVID but eventually managed to get a job at McDonald's. We'll, that didn't go to well as he was bullied to the point he went to the train tracks and was contemplating about whether his life was worth living. Anyway, I persuaded him that he was worth more than the bullies. 4 of the bullies were dismissed but he could face going back he though the manager promised he would be protected, nobody should have to be protected at work.
Now the good but selfish part. He has got his job back at the airport and the change in him is amazing, so no, I cannot contemplate another lockdown especially at the airports. Some peoples mental health will spiral out of control.
This actually brought tears to my eyes. So sorry your Grandson went through this, and you and the rest of the family. I am so pleased he is happy at the airport. Do t feel selfish. At the end of the day, we are all being governed by wanting to protect and do what’s best for our loved ones.

Not sure if Mr Dings exaggerating but it’s grim in Florida

He gets a boner spreading constant fear and ignoring positive stories. He is the person I hate the most out of the pandemic and he should have been banned from Twitter a long time ago.

I prefer accounts that show up vaccine passports. You better believe if they are brought in here I would be up for doing tje same.

You might laugh at this but I’m a bit concerned. Just got back from a Toby carvery meal. You can now serve yourself, go up and help yourself to veg etc without a mask and use the drinks machine etc. I had a lovely meal but I’m now home and absolutely paranoid that I have caught Covid after handling all those shared utensils and people leaning over the food with no mask (I did wear mine cos it felt so wrong being over food without one 😂). Has anyone else been to a carvery, expecting it to be dished up for you and found it’s reverted to help yourself?
I have booked the carvery for Friday. Only booked knowing I can finally serve myself again.

I think I have said on here before, I couldn't face telling someone I want 10 potatoes please!

After my trip out into normality last night, I'm itching to do something else already 😂
Woke up this morning and want to get something booked. Trying to plan a daytrip to London with my mum and brother for in a couple of weeks and I am beyond excited.
I LOVELondon. Myself and my brother used to go a couple of times a year before covid so we're itching to get back, and mums never been before.
All double jabbed too, so looks like I'm going to be having an even bigger outing! 😁

These are such big steps for me, as some of you will probably remember what a state I was in last year when covid started and I have been over cautious ever since (literally went nowhere last year, not even out for food)
So going to London is a biggie and I cannot WAIT! Feel like I did when I was planning a trip to New York am that excited 😂

A vaccine passport that is based on being fully vaccinated is farcical when you can still catch and transmit. There is as much chance as a vaccinated person having covid as there is a non vaccinated. A negative test should be the requirement for entry if needed.

What happened to informed consent surely it's up to the patient to decide ,if they're mentally capable ,I wonder how many patients are being pushed into taking it
I am so uncomfortable with the whole situation. I am in a specialist neurological wing. I have been here two months, you probably wouldn't believe me it I told you how many people have been here with "I had my vaccine two days ago and this morning I....." (clots, limb numbness, bleeds) and they carry on like it is normal and this new "coincidence" illness is one we should all accept. Meh.

But opposite me is a ferocious 92 year old who is also a vaccine refuser, she is stuck here as she cannot move into the nursing home without a vaccine. Every day they ask her, every day she tells them to bugger off and I smile inside. But she is here, well and recovered, blocking a bed because of a stupid vaccine policy.

Well tonight was the first time I have been out without a mask and actually gone somewhere (previously only been to a small, outdoors tennis tournament, with social distancing and wearing a mask, and eaten outside at our local pub once since the end of lockdown)
But tonight, my brother had a spare ticket for the football so asked me to go. We went for drinks first (inside) was SOOOO odd seeing people sat in close proximity without masks! Then off to a stadium with over 12,000 people in it! Again SO odd, especially walking out at the end in the crowds of people.
Thats the first time I've not wore my mask inside, and the first time I've been around that many people in over a year and a half!

It was so nice. All evening and not a mask in sight. My first proper glimpse of normality!!♥

Even the news outlets are trying to hammer it home now that this is just how life is going to be - another respiratory illness that we can become seriously ill or die from but not that stops everything. A BBC article I read yesterday just said we should all expect to get covid several times over our lifetime but that due to antibodies it should be milder each time.

The governments have absolutely made a rod for their own backs, they’ve made people so afraid that if they get covid they will die/kill their nan/have long covid for the rest of their life that now people will not accept the idea that they will have to catch it at some point.

At press briefings they have even conceded that compliance was higher than they ever planned for - they’ve gone quiet recently and I think that’s because coming out and saying that this is how it has to be now will not go down well with that group - I’ve already seen so many posts on Twitter etc about how the government are now just leaving us all to die 😬🙄

If you are vaccinated then that is really all you can do to protect yourself at this point 🤷🏻‍♀️ because every single person is getting some form of covid in their lifetime.
