Co-op food

Bumping to say I think I've officially given up on the Co-Op. Every time I go in things seems to have doubled in price - it's literally from one week to the next which is annoying. Plus their stock is always low and they haven't put any new ranges out for ages. They just change the packaging now and then of the same stuff.

Their meal deals are pretty good, vegan food tends to be cheaper than most places as well. I find their stuff is nice but can be pricey if not on offer. I wouldn't be able to do a full shop but it's okay for a top up shop, usually a good range of yellow stickers too!

They have really good end of day discounts, if you have one near an office kind of area they put all the discounts up from about 6pm, often go in after work

I used to like going into the Coop but the prices, as you say, have doubled and it was always more expensive anyway. Anything discounted, is probably what I spent a few months back.
I still really like the food though, I've noticed quality has slipped in places like Asda but Coop still has some really nice stuff.

Do you use the Co-op much anymore? They seem to be dying out from what I've seen. There's nowhere near as many as there used to be even 10 years ago. I had a phase a bit ago of using them quite a lot. Thinking I might pop in early Christmas eve as well to top up on some bits.

I find some of their fresh pizzas decent, they also do a really nice tuna mayo sandwich in white bread. The rest of it is quite meh - ready meals aren't up to much and they don't seem to be too fond of coming up with new products. That said, I do find the quality quite good and always buy more than I expected.
I very often shop at CO-OP, I like their products. Many of the smaller shops have been bought by Asda, and will bcome Asda expresd stores. It is such a pity, I really like the CO-OP.

I quite like Co-op. Of all the supermarkets they seem the most ethical, values-driven and bothered about the environment. The food isn’t far off M&S quality imo, but the prices seem to be about the same which is a bit rubbish!

Anyone think the Co-op has gone completely crap since they stopped the building up money on your card? It's like just stamps for £5 off shopping and 50p of random items you don't want. All their shops seem a bit dead now and the general quality and choice seems to have gone down.

I get home delivery. Several times it just hasn’t arrived (including just before Christmas) no text/ email or apology. Complaint email ignored. Impossible to do a full shop online as there are items always out of stock and they are the same ones so order more in. Prices have increased, quality and size gone down. Their loyalty card is rubbish now.

Coop delivery has only just came to my area (like Whoosh or Chop Chop type, not like full on shop).

I did one yesterday and such a weird pricing/charging system- they added 10% of my basket cost onto it to cover subs but then if it’s not used they’ll refund that in 3-5 days. Why can they sort it like other shops and adjust it once they’ve packed it?
Items missing also but no actual email to confirm that.

I honestly don't think coop do any research. I have a fave coop I stop at on the way home from work because they always reduce the bloomers, it's in a bit of a shady area, today I notice they've started selling small bags of macadamias for £6.99 😱.

Tbh that coop delivery was a godsend back in 2021 when I got Covid and had to isolate and felt like tit as couldn’t get booked in anywhere else. It can be a bit hit and miss though in terms of substitutions.

I definitely think the quality of options went downhill for a while but lately I’ve been able to get really good quality fruit and veg. They could do with being a bit more inspired with their special range, hopefully they do some decent Christmas party food for once.

We have a co op at the end of the road, it's handy if I need something in between supermarket trips.

I’m sure this has probably been discussed but the fancy salt n vinegar are probably the best. It’s between them and Tyrell’s .

Deffo going the way of WHSmith in terms of will be focussed on 'niche' locations - such as 'old people' towns/villages where money might not be much of an issue - Birchington in Kent for example has 2 Co-ops within footsteps of each other on the high street, or as the shop side of petrol stations.

They've recently sold up their bigger store to Aldi or Lidl (I forget which) just up the road from us that had a 'bakery' etc and a car park and retained the small store in the village without a car park. Aldi or Lidl are levelling the store, rebuilding further back on the site with a much bigger car park.

16 days and still don’t have my refund- had to redownload twitter (which I hate) to try and get it sorted as their phone line wasn’t working and they take ages to reply to messages. Compared to other shops their whole system feels so dated and awkward.

it’s only about £5 but it’s really annoying me now!
