Genuinely want to understand - what is the right approach for non First Nations people to approach the referendum?
I'm not First Nations and I am a yes voter. I'm not sharing much about it on social because I don't want to deal with the barrage of racist comments that follow. But I appreciate other people's content, I understand you don't like Clementine but what about other people and sharing?
I’m not First Nations but everyone is given the opportunity to vote so we ALL make the decision collectively. It’s mandatory and we don’t have a choice unless we want to get a fine. Personally I’m looking at all of the information from the government and watching videos and reading information from both sides. Clem has every right to share information and if you like her or not she will do so as it’s everyone’s right.

i get what you are saying but there are no winners here. If she shares her opinion she get slammed by people and if she doesn’t share she then also gets slammed
We can’t be ignorant to the fact that we are in this position that we have to vote. Personally I hate that it’s brought out so many racists and feel it’s taken out country back years. Hoping for a Yes outcome.

To answer peoples questions clementine has a history of profiting off Black issues but treating certain WOC and First Nations women woefully. It's my opinion that its fine for non-indigenous people to share information and partake in enquiry about the referendum and things but I have been bothered by the number of white people i have seen campaigning for it. its a nuanced issue that is causing a lot of harm for many Black communities and that is all i will say about it

Are there any left-leaning Australian influencers who are educating on what is happening to the Palestinians? I’m seeing only silence, a wishy-washy “prayers for both sides”, or full on Israeli propaganda about how bombing civilians is key to protecting Jews. It’s disturbing.

I’ve only really seen people with small followings educating/sharing/reporting on the Palestinian view and hypocrisy of current reporting. Clem did post a couple of shares on her stories but nowhere near what she did for BLM.
To be fair, she has broken her wrist in the past few days, I feel like her mind may be elsewhere right now. It also people me when everyone weighs in on everything. I really don't need more hot takes from influencers or D list celebrities about the state of the world or things they may not have a full understanding of.
Is this a jab at Clementine from Mia? Clem had a bit of a swipe at her during the Matty J video saga, about how a leading women’s publication was going out of their way to make sure everyone knew he was a “good guy” because there was an interview or article with him and Laura

That reads very much as a poke at Clementine. Mia is Jewish so it’s a topic she would be personally invested in, too.

Heavy agree. I think the point about Clem comes from her being not just an influencer
but her public persona is rooted in being a writer who is known to comment on current social issues. So I’d *expect* her to have some kind of take, thou don’t really care if she doesn’t. FWIW Bottom line is people are suffering and dying. Hamas has recently murdered innocent people, Israel is also actively doing the same and has also subjected terrible conditions upon Palestinian Territories for many years. The history is complex and there are no winners. Perhaps she has no hot take because there isn’t one.
It's all bleeping abhorrent. Has been for years. I've been watching the recent news closely and honestly find it exhausting opening my social media to find more of the same, from people less qualified to share. I've never really understood why anybody expects opinions on anything from people who aren't directly involved or in a position to drive change. It might make people feel like they've done something, but they haven't actually achieved anything. A bunch of privileged Westerners posting Instagram stories isn't going to stop wars.
