I think it depends on what tier of treatment you’re on? I can have two phases of refinement of up to 14 aligners at no extra cost. Decisions are made from scans and X-rays though, I’ve never been asked to send in photos. Has he not broached this or made adjustments as you’ve went along? Or were your bottom teeth not straight in your plan?
Also, surely you don’t stop wearing them until you’ve been given your Vivera retainers for night time? Or the teeth would shift back?
So I was meant to see my dentist last week but he had to cancel because he had covid. I rang to reschedule and I asked what would happen as I’m on my last aligner. The receptionist spoke to someone else and said to send my photos as usual on a Tuesday and the girl will tell what to do. I was like, ok 🤔
Do you not send yours photos weekly so they can see if everything is on track and move on the next aligner?
Surely I just keep wearing it until I’m back in the practice because they’ll move?!! Yes, bottom teeth were straight in my simulation of what they would look like. I’ve only seen the dentist once (not including when I had them fitted) and that was halfway through my treatment and he filed some more teeth and said everything was ok (it’s a 14 week treatment).

Nope. I see my dentist every 3/4 weeks for scans so that’s how we know my teeth are tracking. It seems that yours haven’t been if they’re different from the simulation? I’d hope the dentist would raise it to be honest rather than you needing to. If you have a written treatment plan you should see in that how many refinements are included in the initial cost.

Yeah I’ve never been asked to send photos in? Huge disclaimer I’m on a very very short run of treatment (3 months) for a minor issue but I get given 4 aligners at a time and move up weekly. When I go in the dentist just eyeballs me, tbh I’m 2/3rds tbrough treatment and I’d be happy with my teeth staying like this now anyway.

But yeah I definitely wouldn’t stop wearing an aligner - at Christmas even if I had it out for 3/4 hours it would feel tighter when it went back in, god knows how it’d feel for weeks!! 😳 I’d keep your last aligner in until you can go in again.

Definitely agree on Christmas tightness!! I wouldn’t be sure I’d get it back in at all after a week or more 😅 Can feel the pain just thinking about it!

How many attachments did everyone have on their teeth? I finally had my first appointment for invisalign today to get all of the images and impressions and my dentist told me I’m probably going to need quite a few

If they’re not on the front four teeth they’re barely noticeable, I have 7 but all but two are right at the back so you couldn’t tell.

The worst thing is one of them keeps coming off when I put them in/out, they have to put your very first aligner back on to fix it and omg the pain.

She said I would need one on just one of my front teeth so that’s not too bad I guess, oh god yeah I’ve heard they’re a real pain to deal with if they come off😪

Hey guys! I’m wondering if any of you could help me x

so I have a small gap between my two front teeth, it’s pretty small but it’s been bothering me and I’ve decided to do something about it. The rest of my teeth are fine! I’ve attached a couple pictures of what I mean (not of me, just similar). Do you think Invisalign is right for me? I know it’s just a gap, but I don’t want to go to the dentist, get ripped off and pay thousands and go through a lot of pain for this small gap, but I’ve heard composite bonding isn’t great and doesn’t last long. Im pretty unsure what to do! Any advice would be appreciated!

Thank you x
I have the same gap and I have bonding on it. Who told you it doesn’t last long? My first one lasted over ten years! I think it’s great and only cost me a couple of hundred quid!

Just adding - I had Invisalign on just my bottom teeth which cost £1750. When I had my bonding redone (a while after the Invisalign) they told me they’d want to do Invisalign on the top and bottom again to close the gap, because it might cause bite issues etc. That would’ve cost £3.5k. So I went for the bonding again which was a couple of hundred and only took a couple of hours!

The dentist told me! So I was worried they were trying to push me into Invisalign when the rest of my teeth are fine. I just don’t know what to do 😂

I contacted a dentist and sent pics over, and he said both Invisalign and composite bonding would work for me, so I’m thinking to have a few consultations in a couple places and see what they all say.

do you mind me asking if the bonding is obvious? I was worried it would make my teeth look ‘bigger’ (width wise) and look unnatural, or does it look natural? :) and when you said it lasted over 10 years, did it just fall off after? Or slowly erode? Thank you so much!

I’m having composite bonding after my Invisalign so interested to hear this too! Granted I’m just having edging done. I’d definitely ask at any consultation to see examples of previous work that would have similar results to yours though. It’s quite an individual thing and you want a dentists who’s work and approach you really love!

@Scorpihoe I found some dentists really do push Invisalign 😬 no the bonding isn’t obvious at all, in fact I’ve had two dentists in disbelief that it’s not real tooth. Whenever I tell someone it’s bonding they’re surprised - it doesn’t look like Love Island girls or anything. It’s definitely worth going somewhere good and paying a little more. Tbh the only reason it broke off was because I bit really hard into something I shouldn’t have been (opening a plastic carton) and then I picked it 😂 but I had it redone 2 years ago and it’s been fine since!

When I got the bond redone I had a little edging too on the surrounding teeth, I’m honestly obsessed, they look ‘perfect natural’ if that makes sense? I always get complimented on my teeth but everyone also thinks they’re completely real, it’s the dream 😂

@judgejohndeed yes! And I find it so awkward to say no so I usually just go along with whatever they say 😂 it’s good to hear it looks natural and lasts so long! I’ll definitely look into it more and book some consultations ☺

Thanks so much!!

Omg yes it makes perfect sense 👌🏽 I just want to look natural, but also like I hit the genetic bleeping lottery in the smile department 🤩 This is what my chosen dentist does, she’s cosmetic only and I’m paying more for her work because it’s wow. Worth it in my opinion, I trust her completely.

I had my appointment today to be shown the projected end results and talk through the plan. I will be very happy if all goes well and they end up like that!
I've got to have 24 trays and she estimates it will take 9 months to a year, then 3 to 6 months of the daytime retainers before moving onto the night time ones. I also need 0.5 mm of enamel removing between all of the bottom teeth which is a bit nerve wracking. I'm really looking forward to getting started!

That is an identical procedure to mine 🤣 except I have been told to wear a daytime retainer for 6 months before moving onto the night time.
I’m currently on tray 4 and haven’t had lots of pain, which actually worried me 🤣 but looking at my teeth it’s amazing to see how much they’ve actually moved already, and my whole bite feels different!
I get my teeth filed in a month and I’m trying not to think about it, although many people have told me it’s slightly uncomfortable but not at all painful!
Do you need many attachments?

Has anyone used smile direct club? I’ve been looking online and it seems so convenient but I feel like I’ve read somewhere that they are not registered dentists or something along those lines. My teeth aren’t bad just need a little bit of straightening so I don’t want to spend a fortune if I can help it.

I think there were six or seven. She said she was going to email all the details to me but she hasn't yet.
I'm a bit worried about the pain side of things but am really looking forward to my bite feeling more comfortable.

I’m interested too. I have a slight overbite so just want them straightened a bit. Nothing too drastic. Prices with smile direct club looks reasonable. I too don’t want to have to spend a fortune either.
