It won’t be a registered dentist or anything. They’ll be cutting out the middle man (the orthodontist/dentist) and sending you the trays directly. I would imagine after your scans they make the trays and then you just do them one after the other. I’d be sceptical as my orthodontist was sooo helpful and informative about what was happening when, and I knew if anything broke or was really painful I could speak to him. Maybe if you’re having a minor amount though it could be fine.

Smile Direct does actually have registered dentists overseeing the plans, but you don't get to see an actual person so if something goes wrong with your bite etc they won't be able to fix it. So many things can go wrong with teeth when they're moving, I know it's a lot cheaper but there's a reason for that and I imagine they'll have some waiver in place if something does go wrong. I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.
Anyone got a sore jaw after taking their aligner out? The past week or so I’ve been taking mine out then realise I can’t open my mouth fully to eat 
it’s really annoying and sore. Just on the back left top jaw. I’ve tried opening my mouth really wide when taking it out incase it’s jarring due to being too closed but doesn’t make a difference. Stays like that way for ages too. I’m on the home straight with mine, only about 6 weeks to go I think but this has me worried I’ll be stuck with a weird sore jaw.

I had the same thing. Really painful jaw on one side and could barely open my mouth. My dentist just said to use the chewies less often and that I might be grinding or clenching my teeth at night. Had my attachments put onto my teeth yesterday after 2 months and they are awful!!! It feels like i’m pulling my teeth out when I take my aligner out and actually dread doing it my teeth and gums are so sore. I’ve ordered some of those aligner removers to see if that helps. I feel like i’m going to pull them off my teeth, too!
Had spacing done too and that wasn’t half as bad as them fitting the attachments!!

I felt exactly like you did, but I swear after a week or two it’s fine and I have 16 of them! I was the same and almost had a panic attack when trying to remove them for the first time. It took a couple of weeks to get the hang of removal and the pain did subside. I had to take paracetamol for the first few days. I’m on tray 18 of 26 now and no pain. Thank you all for your comments, you’ve made me feel a lot better about the next few weeks, glad to know it eases and becomes the norm… I genuinely debated calling it a day with Invisalign on Thursday I had that much pain/anxiety! When I removed my aligners for dinner this evening it was a little better so hoping the worst has passed.
I honestly dreaded the spacing being done so much and yet that was a breeze compared to this attachment drama

Had braces as a teenager but was never given a retainer and we didn't know enough to insist on getting one, so my teeth have moved back to where they were, sigh. Now in my late 20s I'm looking into it and invisalign is £3500+ which seems a lot when fixed braces are £900+... But not sure I could cope with the self consciousness again, especially as an adult. So not sure what to do! My teeth aren't too bad just a bit of overcrowding at the bottom but I'm self conscious about them... So maybe better to just bite the bullet and go for fixed braces?!
@bcfc999 I really doubt that fixed enables will be £900, they’re cheaper but not much. My partner had fixed braces 18 months ago and they were about £500 cheaper than the Invisalign option but still £3k for top and bottom
I did think it was a massive difference but that's what it says! Might be worth a consultation to look into it further in that case
if it's only a matter of £500 I'd def be going invisalign!I think so many are in the same boat. I had a tooth removed when I was 13 just because it was a bit thin. Had braces for three years and a bridge put in. Wasn’t told anything about the long term! Fast forward 20 years and I need to pay out for an implant and braces to fix my teeth again. I’m on my last tray so will start the implant bit soon. Really not looking forward to it!
