The co op are nearly giving away Christmassy things today. I got these for 80p !! thought they might be fun for tonight.

Think I will un-decorate on Sunday, to draw a line under it for the children starting back. We only have cheese and pate left so have had a good run at it .

Hope 2026 brings everything people want most .

We take our tree down on New Year's Day but I can see the appeal of cleaning up a day or two before then.

I always feel a tad guilty when the tree goes back in the attic, the cat loves it.

Does it feel like Christmas has whizzed by and is over before it really started this year? It feels like it was weeks ago.

Xmas went really fast this year. I remember Halloween when people were talking about Xmas being next, then next thing it's here and gone. Crazy.

Wishing everyone a lovely 2026 and bring on the Christmas 2026 thread. I took my decs down yesterday they have been up since 15th November (early for a Christmas event) and I had wisdom tooth surgery today so I wanted to start new year on a fresh. I think I’ll wait until December to put them up next year as I adore Christmas and I’m pretty obsessed but this Christmas felt like it went on for months!

The tree normally comes down 1st Jan but I think it will be Saturday as there's a couple of things going and when it comes down I like to do a bit of a deep clean.

It's been a bit of an odd one for me this year for various reasons but hopefully it's the last one for me in this house. It's on the market so hoping 2026 sends a buyer our way!!

Another popping into say thanks to fellow Tattlers for being around, it makes the slower times a lot more bearable. I find the week between Christmas and NY and then the time after that waiting for all the schools to go back really drags. Tattle is a nice respite from the boredom.

Things that surprised me by being amazing:

Wonka (really enjoyable for adults as well as children)

Finding Father Christmas on Channel 4 (sorry to be late with this rec, see if you can remember it for the next 51 weeks )

The Slipper and The Rose (Cinderella told in an old Hollywood way, really glamorous and engaging for adults).

A very underrated film IMO. I used to love it but haven't seen it for a long time.

I don't think I've actually watched any Christmas movies this year

My beloved husband is out working tonight so for the first time in nearly two decades i am not being forced against my will to watch the hootenanny! I love him very much but im not sad to be without him this new year’s eve Happy new year everyone

I think it's a bit more for adults to tell the truth. The story shows that Santa is real, but it kind of implies that no one would believe, if it wasn't for this big conspiracy wheee he does exist. There's also a lot of "You're 16, how could you believe in Santa! It's me and your mum who eat the mince pie you leave out!"

Good call for not letting your son watch it. It'll still be on Channel Four's demand site in ten years, then he can see it

We’ve packed away the tree and decs today apart from a set of fairy lights to keep the living room a little more cosy throughout the January gloom.

Took the car for a run and drove past Morrisons and a shopping retail park with Next, Homesense etc on.
I was expecting the car parks to be empty, but they were chock full of cars!
Could have collected my Next order if I'd known, but I'm disgusted that they've opened. Poor staff!
I note Aldi and Lidl in my area are shut.

My local Tesco had been blitzed all of red meat, ready meals and soup. Absolute insanity. Probably the same people buying loads of food before Christmas and have thrown most of it out.

I had to work today. Started at 8am, and by 10am we'd served a grand total of 3 customers. One of those was at the wrong store for her click and collect order.

Everyone assumes shops are either closed, or working Sunday hours.

Anyway, the bonus of opening up on New Year's Day is that when it's dead, you're top of the list for an early dart. So I worked 4 hours and came home to make a nice roast dinner and eat more chocolates.
