Anyone feeling a bit urgh on NYE? Keep seeing all these end of year round ups and feel like I’ve done nowt!! My son is with his dad and his wife so guess I’m just missing him.

Had planned to venture out for some cheesy fireworks but they’ve been cancelled due to the weather. My sister is staying with me until the 2nd and she said we could still go out but she’s six months preg and full of cold. We’re staying in with KFC and a movie.

sorry, misery guts is finished waffling!!
NYE and NYD are a non-event with me. We should all just feel glad and grateful to have got through the year! I don't expect anything from 2025 and whatever I manage to achieve will be a bonus.

Those end of year round-ups are a load of self-congratulatory tank. I know it’s easier said than done, but please don’t compare yourself to others! Outside of social media, I think most of us are just relieved to make it through another year 🙂

I’m continuing to live in my Christmas bubble with cheese, wine and telly tonight! ☺

Me too. I'll stay up until gone midnight but solely so my cat isn't scared when the inevitable fireworks go off, then I'll shuffle to my bed lol. Just another day to me.

This is how I feel to be honest! The big hoohar and pressure to make resolutions or write corny statuses makes me want to vomit haha. Hope your cat isn’t too disturbed.

Thank you 🙏🏻 I’m basically awful at doomscrolling when the kiddo is away at his dads! Enjoy the cheese and wine fest!

New Year is full of high expectations and, in my experience, never lives up to it. I remember we were once in London for New Year and it was honestly the worst night of my life 🤣

We've spent the evening with pizza, loads of poirot movies and snuggles with the fur babies.

One thing I have learnt this year is nothing is guaranteed so I'll be soaking in every single second. Even if all I'm soaking in is a cuddle with my cat 🤣

Honestly I think the last good NYE I had was probably 30 years ago, I was at my then best friends in the West Country, in her local village everyone would gather in the square at 12, join hands and sing Auld Lang Syne. It was like something out of a film ❤

More typical NYEs over the years involved going from pub to pub or party to party in search of friends and/ or a better atmosphere (usually unsuccessfully!). For the last 4 years I've done absolutely nothing, just stayed home, and that's been fine with me.

I've not enjoyed a New Years since 1999 and that was because I was in Paris and had my first taste of proper champagne. (Vintage Cristal, natch). After that, it's all been downhill and don't even get me started on fancy dress parties. Shudder.

I'm currently sipping on cheaper champagne with extra bits orange juice. Waiting to take a diazapan and avoid the entire midnight countdown.

Thanks to you all, especially @Miss Begotten (😘) for being fellow Christmas nuts. Less than 360 days until the next one 🤣

Apart from our tree, Christmas is now packed away.

Hope you all have a lovely new year!

I am staying home with Mr Duck while he prepares food for tomorrow - he always makes us a Korean soup for new years day which has sliced rice cakes in. Usually he buys the rice cakes pre-made, but this year for some reason he has decided to make the rice cakes himself and is currently furiously hitting a rice paste concoction with the pestle 🤷‍♀️😅

I am helping by making old fashioneds (the one cocktail I know how to make - luckily he is a whiskey man!)

I am currently wondering if it's supposed to look like how it does, I'm guessing not, because he keeps swearing at it. Best nye entertainment I've had for years! 🤣

I went out for Nye. First time I've had it off work in 7 years. It was a good night but definitely reminded me why I'd rather be in work. Just don't really enjoy nights out that much. At least I can usually use the I'm working card to get out of it. Going out for one year is enough for a while.
